This little piece here makes me a bit nervous:

Does it look like you can get that out pretty easy? Pretty tight fit - before you pull the trigger on a new card, see what it feels/takes to get the old card out (and then you can put it right back in). If you can get the old card out, I would think a 3070 would fit in there just fine.
That whole part (with the power supply) swings out. I think I’m going to remove all the fans in the case, and replace them with magnets, since that’ll pull all the BAD air out of the case.
Back in 2014 I got an Alienware pc from a computer recycling place I was doing some work for. They had a huge warehouse full of off lease laptops, desktops etc. Mostly for business use but occasionally you’d find a hidden gem stored away and forgotten about.
It had no video card or hard drives but I found a few laying about and tested it out, mobo, cpu (i7 3930k), 32Gb of ram and liquid cooling system were all working fine. The owner is a pretty good guy, sold it to me for about $50. I wanted to put a decent video card in there but the alienware case was just too small. I ended up just buying a new case and transferring everything over and it all worked fine. I’m still using it today.
Anyway that was my long winded way of suggesting that you might be better off buying a bigger case and just putting it all in there, rather than trying to force it all into the smaller case that you currently use.
Be careful here as well - the last PC (an HP) that the owner wanted me to transfer all the guts out to a new case the board was molded to the case, there wasn’t anyway to move it over to a normal case with an I/O shield.

Does any one have insight/gut feelings on if/when card prices on lower end stuff will come back to sanity? I was really hoping for something in the range of $200 for a xmas gift (ie., GTX 1660 Super), but they are currently all up to over $300 if in stock at all. I had been hoping that the 3060 line might be a potential choice, but $400 is a bit out of range.
Note that the PC this would be going into would be replacing a GTX 960. So I realize a 1660s isn’t anything super fancy, but it is quite a jump over what is there now.
I was able to hear from someone on the BotRtx Discord who received their card from Best Buy after a pickup delay. He said it just magically appeared. So it can happen. Lots of other people on the Discord and Best Buy forums are stuck in the same boat as me – original pickup was Wednesday and then it was delayed. I’m still holding out hope.
The bad news is there’s no way to extend the order past their hard cutoff time. I have until this Wednesday.

Nope, nobody knows. Neither Nvidia nor AMD has announced their lower-end lines yet. I would expect it in Q1 though.

As I feared, but was hoping I missed some nugget of info. Thanks!

Yeah the GPU situation in all price points is pretty dire. Pretty sure nothing old gen is being fabricated anymore and everything’s running on the dregs of old stock.
The best hope in the $200 range is a used 4 year old 1070 off of ebay or craigslist.

Yeah local stock of 20xx is pretty much all gone. There are still some 20xx in bundled PC builds (HP, Alienware etc.). It is pretty dire out there.
If you fancy 5xxx series cards from AMD though (last gen small Navi, not the current Big Navi), there are still plenty floating around. Makes you wonder why though… 😂

Well, kind of. At inflated prices higher than a year ago or launch prices.
e.g.
nothing exists for the 5600XT below $300, most are running $350+ if they show up, and lol Newegg attempting to black friday sale one at $230; probably had a better shot at a GTX 3xxx or something than that
and 5700XT in stock pricing have also breached $500

Apparently a new plan is in order, since a graphic card apparently won’t be! Thanks all.
Driving to Best Buy now. I feel like I’m on some covert mission. Someone is going to steal my card before I get there or I’ll get in a car accident. Sheesh.

Good luck report back with the goods :)
These are desperate times. Always be sure to check the box to make sure the card is there.
Now to make it home before a roving bicycle gang or ski troopers ambush me and steal the package.
Looking good! I’m cautiously optimistic about that card making it into your PC.
AMD got a restock this morning or 6800. Long gone by the time I heard about it.
