From that Digital Foundry review, 3060Ti offers 90 percent performance compared to the 3070 for 85% of the price of the 3070. Shouldn’t that be 80% of the price? Or maybe they’re comparing price in British pounds?

I’m honestly tempted by this instead of the 3070 since I still play at 1080p and have no real urge to go higher anytime soon.

I honestly feel a little spoiled by this 3070. I’m maxing everything out non-RTX and getting 100+ fps at 1440p. There’s certainly headroom for a cheaper card, at least for now.

It’s a bit annoying that they launched this a week after I got a 3070 :) I would have preferred the 3060Ti, since the 3070 is so clearly overkill for the rest of my setup. But I guess it’s not actually going to be available this year, so I don’t need to feel too bad.

Which 3070 did you get?

A dual-fan OC Asus for me. Which happened to be the first one I saw in stock, but would have been my first choice anyway so that worked out well.

See, I phrased it as feeling a “little spoiled” so the unwashed masses don’t get mad that I’m complaining about owning a 3000-series card!

How’d you snag it?

Certainly my impression from this thread is, while it is certainly hard to get hold of the 30 series cards, simultaneously there are actually quite a few of them out there and it is very possible to get them, which is rather different from the impression you might get from certain youtube personalities.

Sure, I can buy one right now. Just have to pay 400+ over retail. To be fair, there are only a few specific Cards I’m willing to buy

I don’t think many people on here paid scalpers. It’s certainly not easy (unless you want to buy a whole system), but it’s very possible.

I’m happy to rub my 3080 into someone’s face. Anyone want to hear about how great it is?

LOL

Ah, smooth :)

Nothing as dramatic as your story!

This is Switzerland, we don’t have all that fancy stock monitoring and alerting infrastructure that people have built for the US retailers. But that actually makes this a bit easier, since you don’t have the whole pack of hyenas strike immediately and things stay in stock for a bit longer. So I just checked the main price comparison site once a day until something showed up with next day delivery :-P

It cost about $30 over the normal retail price, but that’s OK. That kind of premium feels more like normal supply and demand than paying a scalper.

Out of curiosity, which ones?

It should be interesting to see the supply of 3060TIs. Unless I’m misunderstanding what I’m reading, the 3060TI is essentially a binned 3070 chip, so if the 3060 TI has better availability than the 3070 then that points towards yield issues.

My first choice is a 3070 Tuf. Second is MSI Gaming trio. I don’t particularly want a 3070 Strix, but would buy one if I could.

Yeah; best price I’ve managed to find for an AVAILABLE 3070 over here in the US was $699, which is our price for the 3080 FE and I just can’t abide that.

In a Gamers Nexus video I was watching yesterday (don’t remember which one specifically), Steve said he was warned not to (or be careful) disassembling their 6800 cards, as the stocks are so low for them they can’t guarantee they can get GN some more.

I understand AMD is strained because of consoles, so it makes me wonder why they didn’t just wait until they could have a stable supply chain.

Nvidia got away with it, so they figured they could too. They were right.

Well at least we know there are Ti cards. Now come on 3080 Ti! Maybe next year…
