I was in the beta and it is awesome. I’m not even a big Minecraft fan, that’s my 12 year old who runs her own server. Yet, I played quite a bit because it just looks incredible.
How does this work? Do they not provide an official PBR texture pack so you can just play a solo survival game with RTX on?
I looked on the marketplace and couldn’t find anything with searches, nor see anything RTX-related in the filters.
I don’t know. I don’t have an RTX card, so I haven’t looked into it.

Got ya covered:
Sounds awesome! How do I experience it?
If you meet the minimum requirements and you are on the Windows 10 version of the game, you can experience ray tracing in Minecraft one of two ways. If you are already in the Minecraft beta, see below for how to rejoin the non-beta version of the game.
- Download Ray Tracing Enabled Packs in the Minecraft Marketplace
-
- There are many FREE worlds featuring PBR and ray tracing available in the Minecraft Marketplace, with more to come!
* You can find all the ray tracing supported content in the Marketplace with this blue icon:

With beta you had to downlaod and play in a few select worlds or download the resource packs from nvidia, enable them and run your own.
They made it hard to find them for whatever reason.
Nvida guide, links to resources buried in there somewhere.
" In addition to these worlds and their resource packs, NVIDIA is separately releasing four resource packs. Two, HD Decorative Resource Pack and HD Foundational Resource Pack , are created by NVIDIA, but they should not be activated at the same time. If you do activate them at the same time, you will see a resource pack fall back resulting in other textures down-rezzing. The other two packs, Muddle RTX and RazzleCore RTX , are created by Razzleberries.
With these four packs, you will be able to enjoy both high-resolution textures (1024x1024) and low-resolution textures (8x8 or 16x16) with PBR capabilities.
Further, to demonstrate the possibilities of the new Minecraft PBR textures, we’ve worked with Razzleberries to create the RTX Expo Museum world, a large Smithsonian-esque museum showcasing every enhancement, benefit, and improvement offered by Minecraft with RTX. As you stroll through the world, you’ll see how PBR textures work in concert with ray tracing to enable a level of detail and fidelity that was previously impossible to achieve with traditional rasterization and effects.
And if you make your own textures, you can quickly and easily test them in this world by overwriting the existing textures, accelerating your workflow and iteration speed."

The key here is this is not the Java Minecraft. This is Windows 10 Minecraft. There are separate versions. If you don’t have the latter that’s a $29 purchase.

Oh yes that. Exactly why my daughter is not interested. Shes Java all the way because of modding and hosting a server.

I would love to play around with this to see the RTX but I’m not willing to repurchase the game for $29.99 (as an old Alpha player I just have the Java version). If it were to drop to 10 bucks I’d grab it just for the RTX demo.

I like to think of the win 10 version as Minecraft 2: Monetinize You.

I am pretty sure Java players can convert their license to the Windows 10 version for free. At least, that’s what I did a year or so ago to get access to Minecraft VR.
I’m confused, with Minecraft RTX can you play the complete game as normal or are there limitations?
Thanks, so the PBR packs are not available on the marketplace, the in-game place where they can distribute texture packs and automatically install them, instead you have to download and manually stuff about with zip files… :P
I didn’t see it mentioned but will this work in VR? I kind of get the feeling the answer will be ‘no’…
I think with those texture packs above, you can play a complete normal game.

So you have to set every single model on every store individually on hotstock for alerts? I can’t just say any 3060 Ti?

Even though Cyberpunk 2077 runs great @1440P on my 1070, still can’t wait to pick up the 3060 Ti from Best Buy tomorrow.
What’s up with Best Buy status, it still stuck on “prepare for pick up 12/10 stage” for the past week, status bar really haven’t moved.
There’s a good chance it will be delayed till next week. Cross your fingers.

Correct, need those resource texture packs. Install them, pick one and activate, then start new world and play regular with RTX.
Side note: They no longer convert java accounts up to Win 10 for free. that offer expired iircc.
Sorry for derail all but it is a nice game to fiddle with new nvidia cards.

Finally got my pick up email, will head out once the store is open
Nice! Now your spy mission begins. Don’t let those associates buy it out from under you.

December 9 Game Ready driver for Cyberpunk 2077 gave me weird bugs (picture on both DP monitors went gray/solid colour) upon Windows login/restart so had to roll back to December 2 driver. This was a first for me. GTX 1080 Ti FE, Windows 10 x64 build 20H2 .

Can’t wait to try this with Cyberpunk 2077 tonight
