Yes, saw that. Remember RDNA2 was designed with this functionality in mind, while Turing wasn’t. So it isn’t super surprising.
What is surprising is Nvidia’s whitelisting doesn’t seem to be in effect. They need to fix that shiz.
The “cheaping out” by some manufacturers these days is real.
I remember I ran into a problem a few years ago on a build where the PSU manufacturer (and I believe it was the fabled Seasonic) included ONLY SATA power cables with the perpendicular elbow connectors, which didn’t help me at all because my case’s HDD cage had a slot right at the bottom of the case, and I needed to put an HDD in that slot.

With Unreal and Unity natively supported, DLSS has wide coverage in upcoming games.
Finally Unity gets DLSS! Well, by the end of the year, for games using HDRP.
Though I guess if you’re using one of the other pipelines you probably don’t need DLSS. But maybe VR games tend towards using the more performant pipelines (not sure), and would also love to be able to use DLSS.
And Switch games would be in a similar boat to VR, if the rumours are true about a new DLSS-based Switch Pro.

My friend is using his 3070 to play Valorant on MEDIUM quality settings at 1080p resolution.
To be fair, there aren’t very many “pretties” in that game that are worth it. Aside from textures up and lighting on at least medium the majority of the other things are just useless nuisances that do nothing for the gameplay and just suck away fps for no reason.
HDRP is not yet supported in the Switch.

What’s a fair non-scalper price to offer friend who isn’t interested in profiteering but doesn’t use any RTX features to swap a GTX 1080 Ti + cash for his RTX 2070?

The 1080ti is a faster card, ignoring DLSS, so maybe a sixer of Miller genuine draft.
that sounds like a bad idea. Isn’t rtx performance pretty bad on 2000 series cards? And as Stusser said, it’s a significantly slower card

yeah i want to toy with ray tracing, DLSS and 2D emulator integer scaling.

He should roughly pay you ~ 100 USD.
I can only compare it to the 1070ti I had before, but my 2070 super from a year or so ago does RTX well enough, at least in the games I’ve tried. And it better, because it’s unlikely I’ll be able to find a 3xxx card before the millennium.

So, what would be a reasonably priced GPU card these days. It doesn’t need to be state of the art and run everything at maximum resolution (1920*1080 is fine) with everything set to max. Just needs to run games reasonably.
1070? Still $500 on eBay…

You mean a used one? Is that a good idea? I’ve scoured online shops and I can’t find any. Looks like a shortage? Maybe it’s a UK Brexit thing?
Is an RTX 3070 the equivalent of GTX 1070?
While you’ve been sleeping, all the GPUs were bought by bad people. Everyone is now scrabbling around for what’s left. A 3070 is a big step up from a 1070… but I don’t think you’ll be able to find one. They’re ebaying for $1400 right now.
No it’s not a Brexit thing. You might get that on top :)

I’m not so bad once you get to know me, baby.
Hey if anyone finds a 3060 out in the wild for under $400 or a 3060Ti for under $500 please buy it for me and I’ll pay you to ship it to me. Except Zotac. No Zotac.
Edit: this is just in case someone has the hook up. I’m running the fairgame bot and watching some discord notifiers already.
