Anyone who is still arguing that BTC is a currency at this point is an idiot. It does not serve the purpose that a currency serves.

Not with that attitude, it doesn’t!

No disagreement there, as things stand today. It does raise an interesting question of what the threshold is for being a currency vs anything else. I wonder how much of daily USD transactions are in asset markets that many (not all) would consider speculative day trading. Or on drug purchases.

I’m not particularly hung up on if Bitcoin meets anyone’s definition of a currency. What I know with certainty is it saved my ass during the pandemic, as my savings in another country would have been (and remain) irrecoverable, which would have been pretty devasting to deal with on top of everything else. So to me there is a very clear utility, even if it only applies to people that work in a different country than they are from or will live in in the future.

Well there’s a silver lining!

New video card news today?

Oh… mining chat. :(

@arrendek you hear anything from ShopBLT about your orders?

They didn’t cancel them and I can still get to a status page for the cards by going through the order email so here’s hoping it actually results in something! :)

Sounds promising.

Yep my ShopBLT order for a 3080 is also still in place!

I love a good BLT. It’s all about the tomato, got to be a vine ripened farmer’s market jobbie, ugly and bulbous but with sweet flesh redolent with the flush of deep, hot, humid summer days.

The bacon helps too. Looking at the shopblt prices for even the 3070 makes me lean even further towards going with a build from an integrator this time.

I prefer an MLT, when the mutton is nice and lean

I’d probably prefer a gyro over a blt, but I’d be happy with either one. There used to be a guy that set up a stand outside the bars at the University of Iowa, that had the best gyros. The line would go around the block when the bars closed. Heh, still is there. I need to head back home someday.

Gotta make sure the tomato is ripe too. They’re so perky.

Visible as an entry in some spreadsheet somewhere as an active SKU?

It’s real for sure this time…!

If it does pan out, I don’t like my chances of getting one in Australia unfortunately.

shopblt is showing the LHR models again:

Gamers Nexus are moving to larger premises. On one hand cool to see, on the other I wonder how big the audience for component testing is. I hope Steve isn’t blowing his retirement.
