Yeah, I wish they had a greater selection, but I was willing to live with the rest to score the EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra they did have. Even on the Origin site I wish there had been a bit better selection for some things. Still says shipping on the 17th. I keep hoping they will surprise me with an earlier ship date.
NZXT is now forcing you to select a NZXT liquid cooler for a cooling solution, even though the info blurb there says you can choose fan or LQ. Thereās no way to remove it and if you choose fan instead it still doesnāt remove it. I really do NOT want or need liquid cooling.
That sucks. Donāt they do air coolers too?

Yeah, unfortunately all they offer in bld are the nzxt aio solutions and rgb case fans. I had a kraken before so Iām not worried about it for now, but I might consider switching to a noctua air cooler at some point.
The only air cooler OriginPC offered was a corsair one that didnāt seem to have good reviews.
FWIW, my Kraken x63 is great.
Iād watch the buildapcsales reddit. There are always decent priced pre-builts on there it seems.
My issue with them is liquid coolers just donāt last that long and I really donāt want to have to worry about it a few years from purchase.
Thanks.
They did until very, very recently.

My kraken x63 was great for a month and went to pump rattle hell. After some back and forth I just got an RMA approved for a new replacement. However Iāve already moved on to a Noctua solution, and Iām not looking back. Iāll have a new in box Kraken X63 to unload in a few weeks.
I liquid cooled my new build; first time I had done that, and the difference in how temps behave is interesting. That said, thereās really very few situations which seem to truly call for it so not anything I would recommend out of hand; there are plenty of excellent air coolers.
True. Really happy with mine so far, though. I was limited to a cooler height of 55mm, so it made sense for me. I keep my computers for a long time, so hopefully it will last.
Usually the pumps donāt die, unless you have the pump situated above the radiator, they use water to lubricate the pump mechanism and if an air bubble gets up there they tend to die quickly. Typical problem with AIO water coolers is evaporation over time, the tubes arenāt completely impermeable, so they lose some performance after 2-3 years.
Ah gotcha. Honestly, given my cpu is a 5600 and not a higher end part, that would probably be OK if it wasnāt a huge decrease. Thereās some overhead there, for sure. Now, if the pump became Loud, THAT would be a problem.
The pump will run louder when thereās less water to push, but it wonāt rattle unless itās in a near-failure state from whatever reason, typically because you have above the radiator.

I think weāre living in some retail assistantās nightmare where itās black friday every day but nothingās on sale.

My radiator was top mounted above the pump. No idea why it went south w the noise. Probably an anomaly, but it worked out. Iāll save the replacement for when I build one of the kids a PC.
Oofta. This may not be news to those following this thread closer than I, but a quick skim of the last 3 days of posting I didnāt see this review, so I thought it worth sharing. Does not seem worth $400 over the MSRP of the 3080 by any stretch, just a really disappointing cash grab by team green.

Linus Tech Tips had a differing view from Gamers Nexus and others. Their stance was basically the 3080ti is a basically a 3090 with half the memory, letting Nvidia spread the ram out to more cards at a lower cost than the 3090. They are taking a lot of flak for that view though.
MSRP is largely meaningless these days.
I was using it as a baseline for my greater point that the price difference from the 3080Ti sounds super not worth it.
