This time around they’re forcing you into a bundle which if anything makes them more enticing to resellers. Sigh.
They’ve been happening probably 4 days a week lately. And maybe 40% of the time they don’t have bundled items.
MSRP for 3070Ti and 3080Ti is supposed to be a bad deal, so I was happy to see a 3080 as an option, but alas it was listed at almost $1100. What the hell kind of 3080 is that?
Partner enhanced cards. More LEDs and stuff.
Most cards are “OC” options that are $200-300 over MSRP for the base model right now. Across almost all manufacturers.
Edit: I should actually say it’s scaled. It’s like 100-200 at the low end up to 400 at the high end (3080/3080Ti).
MSRP barely matters right now. :/
The local Microcenter here in VA has had 6700s, 6800s and 6900s in stock for over a week.
I was looking at benchmarks and was thinking about grabbing a 6700XT but they’re still like a grand.
GPU market is broken. :/
Wow, really? That’s fantastic! I haven’t seen a 6800 in many years.

Heh. Sorry, 6900 XT and 6700 XT.
Looks like as I was typing, their 6800 XT in stock sold out.
I gathered, just making an (un)funny.

Sadly, it is also probably being sold used for $240.
Those were the days when you could just walk into a Fry’s or whatever and grab a card off the shelf. We may never see the like of that again. And not just because Fry’s isn’t around anymore.
My real question is what this will do to normal GPU prices when there’s no longer a shortage. Will this set a new floor for GPU prices because $500 for an xx70 is a good deal?

I imagine I will be. The 5900x is going to be a nice jump from the i7-6700k for work tasks That will probably make it worth it for that alone. I wonder if it will feel as nice as the jump to the m.2 nvme drive did. Git doing things to a linux kernel repository got a lot faster with the m.2.
Hopefully the gaming will be nice as well :)
If GPU manufacture offers megaprofits, presumably more people will make GPUs.

Absolutely my fear too. And that goes for housing, lumber, used cars, etc., as well.
They’ll charge whatever the market will bear. That hasn’t changed. Once capacity renders it possible, selling high volumes at lower prices always generates the most revenue.
I won the Newegg lottery, not sure it is worth it though, what do you guys think:
