FSR sucks, but sure maybe they’ll improve it. Hopeful for XeSS.
Just got a notification for an EVGA 3060ti I signed up for on 12/1/20. Wooo!
Any recommendations for a PSU? The card specs say the minimum should be 600 watts.

Any well reviewed 80+ bronze or better will do. 650w is fine but usually it’s cheap to go for 750.
Thanks. I’m thinking I’ll go with a Seasonic Focus GX-750.

I picked 80+ gold 650W for my 3060Ti. Not planning any more upgrade so buying the bare minimum for the card. Also non-modular power supply can DIAF.
Yeah it is quite subjective. A lot of games on Ultra is already very pretty looking and realistic. Do I really want even more accurate lighting at a not insignificant performance cost? It will depend on the game on a case-by-case basis.

Your CPU probably made the difference. Mine is Skylake that is 5-6 years old.
Hopefully we can get PSUs using nuclear fusion for the next generation of power requirements, for products nobody will be able to buy. *smiley face
Cold fusion PSU, thus powering and cooling the GFX card. ;)

I’m interested to see how v3 of NVIDIA’s ray tracing performs. Is it technology that’s going to evolve fast or are we stuck with selective usage and significant performance penalties for generations to come.
Until AMD has comparable ray tracing, it’s probably going to stay selective usage.

Ahh that sweet 1080p. sometimes 1440p. ;)
I guess stock is showing up for these two cards?

3060 or 6600XT won’t cut it at 1080p60 if you want ray tracing as well. Without ray tracing you are better off with a 1660 TI or Super.
Hey I’m happy to be a “value for money” 1080p gamer, because goodness knows every company is trying to upsell me “gamer” hardware that aren’t worth the premium I’m paying.

The video above shows that raytracing is surprisingly okay on these cards at 1080p. Limited set of games tested though. However, I view the 3060/6600xt as a means to bridge the jump from 1080 to 1440, whereas the 1660 Super is if you have no intention of going 1440 until another GPU upgrade.
This might all be moot, as the people looking at the lower end stuff like this are probably looking for mystical lower-end pricing as well and probably won’t be upgrading until forced (hardware failure) or lottery winnings come in. And that means that by then 3060s will be hand-me-downs by those moving to 40 series cards or beyond.
I’ve had no issues hitting 1080p60 with my 3060Ti on any game so far. I can’t imagine the 3060 is all that much slower.

Just OK, and requiring DLSS which is kinda muddy in 1080p. So it is realistically barely ok. Inadequate in case of 6600XT without DLSS.
I kinda loathe the marketing where they marketed 2060 last gen as adequate for ray tracing gaming. If it JUST enough for a 3060 this gen, it was clearly inadequate last gen for 2060.
I find the 3060 Ti more than adequate for ultimate settings on 1440p
There’s an unusually significant gap between 3060 and 3060TI.

Indeed, like 30%± difference.
