Long time no post from me (the one who’s username the world hates…)
Figured for those who didn’t realize I left PR to become a corporate ahole business guy, I would say that is where I am.
Ah the allure of big paychecks and less hours - not to mention NOT having to call half of the people on this forum every day.
In actuality I work with the online distributor, Arcadetown (Come on, you haven’t heard of us? We’re on our way to breaking Alexa 1,000! That’s someodd 14 million visitors a month…)
I know we have a lot of oldschool fans out there on this forum, so since nobody actually WANTED to play the game, I will just say we’ll be releasing realspace 3 soon, a top down shooter.
Sure, I remember old Joe “Not the Senator” Lieberman.
He’s not a spammer. More of a shill.
See, I don’t really have a problem with shilling. Tom obviously allows a few people to do it. I just like it when the shills stick around and participate in our little forum, and aren’t just here to post when they’ve got something to announce.
Why not? There have been a few games I’ve played where I’ve spent significant amounts of time staring at the loading screen. I’d like to have known in advance is it was going to be pretty, or not. Note to reviewers: Talk about the loading screens more.
I dunno, maybe it’s good to let potential customers know what they can expect to see on the screen, especially if they’re going to be staring at it for long periods of time.
Based on the given screenshots, I can now safely assume that the loading screen compromises a full 25% of the game, and that there’s a full 25% of the game they don’t want you to see.
So this guy comes in, has a horrid username with 7 posts, acts like he’s an old timer that people have been wondering about, brags he’s making more money now, shills some shit game, and asks for previews for it.
Hmm, I would say I am an old-timer… maybe not on this board, but to plenty of important people out there.
I’m glad so many of you have passed judgment without playing it :)
As far as Shill goes, I suppose I am in some ways. As far as non-participating shill goes… I have to avoid giving out my opinions most of the time in public. This means when I post I have to focus on things I am working on as opposed to things I have opinions on.
Ergo, I find it best to avoid posting or even reading 95% of the stuff on this board, lest I inadvertently piss someone off who will inevitably hold some key position in a business deal.
So far I recall making two posts on this forum, both of which were now flamed for pretty much the same reason. Granted in this case I work with the game, but my goal of having real feedback was sincere. The last case was because I had just found a very innovative game that I thought the “elitist” snobs here would appreciate. Turns out they didn’t appreciate that either.
So I suppose I will just leave you all to rot in the AAA budget doldrums while I continue to find, play, create, and enjoy games that trade a little flash for character. In ignorance there is bliss.
I’ll remove the links and reference to the product.

Thinly veiled arrogance? Check.
Snide dismissal of negative reactions? Check.
So you don’t participate in the community, but you feel justified in shilling for publicity because… wait, why do you feel justified? If you want to place an ad, I’m sure Chet would be happy to help you out.
If you’re worried about repurcussions, just register under an anonymous handle. Then you can participate in discussions, and when you have a new product coming out, you can post “I worked on this, check it out” and nobody will jump up your ass. And if you’re not at all interested in participating and just want to shill, fuck off.
I just tried out Real Space 2, and I would love to know what exactly is so innovative about Real Space 3. I would assume they are fairly similar.
Real Space 2 is trite and the only thing old-school about it is if you equate shitty graphics with old-school games. Seriously, do you even know what you are competing against in the old-school shmup market? If you’ve played any of those games, you can’t tell me this real space is even a 1/10 of what those games are. You need a good swift kick in your marketing hole.
