Will my Ipod live, Doc?

Last night I started getting some disk errors on my 5-year-old Ipod Video (5G with a 30GB HDD, I think). A chkdsk I ran on it found bad sectors, it had trouble copying files to the hard drive, it now skips when I play it through the head unit in my truck, etc. etc.

Assuming I have a good backup of all the media that’s on there (I think I do), can this thing be saved, or have I wrung all the use out of it I’m likely to get? I wonder if I should reformat the hard drive and start over.

Given that I got this thing free through one of those “get referrals to try Netflix, win an Ipod” things, I guess I can’t complain too much. It’s been a tank.

Thanks!

sectors will still be bad after a format.
