Win 7/Vista users. Do you have Windows Defender running?

Just wondering. Is it much of a system hog?

I actually installed Microsoft Security Essentials, which does both antivirus and anti spyware/malware, and actually supersedes Defender and replaces it. However, before I installed that I did leave Defender running and never noticed it to cause any problems.

I disable it and run AVG free, spybot & malwarebytes, on both one Vista 32 and one Vista 64 machine

Like Peter Jones I run MSE. It is very lightweight and doesn’t nag the shit out of you trying to upsell you on a commercial version.

This is what did (and do), as well.

Defender never caused any problems while running and MSE is much the same.

I have these installed, but saw no point in disabling Defender, as it didn’t appear to be resource draw.

I’ve yet to find a reason to have AVG Free and malwarebytes, however. MB tends to do a better job, leaving AVG completely redundant.
