No.
Well, I guess it would be more accurate to say we haven’t found any policies that shut it all off to a greater degree than the consumer and business versions.
awesome, but we should trust MS to not snoop corporate info, i’m sure in the USA they would be sued to hell if they were not telling the truth on that. So maybe folks should all get Windows 10 Enterprise editions, if you still want to be a customer of MS off course?

Yes, enterprise and educational versions of windows 10 can completely disable telemetry by setting it to “security”. Home and pro can only set it to “basic”. That setting might not be available until the threshold 2 release, due next tuesday.
It’s up to you whether you’re bothered by this. We all care about our privacy to differing degrees. I care a lot.
I turn off all that tracking and telemetry crap on iOS and android too, incidentally. Both iOS and android track you by default, but both platforms allow the user to opt-out. Microsoft doesn’t. That is the key difference.

Tracking is needed for features like Siri, which I assume is the same reason Windows does it. Since I don’t use any of Windows apps (news, weather, Cortana, etc.) I would like to turn it off. One nice thing about OS X and iOS is they have an opt in setting to share data with app developers. I have heard developers mention that not many allow it, but it’s extremely helpful for making their apps stable. I would be all for this if Windows offered the option.

What? Now it’s exactly what Apple offers, which means that it’s correct and that MS should emulate it.
Right?

What the hell, Microsoft? Talk about bait and switch. I think I had about 20GB free with Onedrive (15 + 5 bonus). How about grandfathering it? Also, 5GB seems pretty low. That’s what Apple offered what, like 4 years ago? What a step backwards.
I’ve been saying much the same. Going from unlimited (well, listed as “10 TB”) to 1 TB just as I was getting used to tossing everything up into the cloud means OneDrive goes poof and I’m back to where I was. Sure, still a lot of space, and I’ll still use it, but my gradual move to using it to store everything is shut down.
Definitely a bait and switch, and a poor decision. I’ve never felt negative towards MS but this kicks my opinion down a notch.

WTF Microsoft? They were on such a good roll lately and now they dun goofed with nerfing our OneDrive storage.

Definitely a boneheaded move by Microsoft. I could see rolling it back to 5 TB on paid (and not touching the free), but the plan as currently outlined is nuts. And even if Microsoft walks it back, they’ve formed a bad first impression with this idiotic plan.

It’s like PlaysForSure / Windows Phone 7 / Windows Phone 7.5 / Windows Phone 8 / Windows Phone 8.1 / Zune / Kin all over again!
Well, everything on that list but Windows 8.1, since that is being updated to Windows 10.

Apple’s tracking stays on your device, and can be disabled. Microsoft and google’s tracking is sent to their servers, and MS does not allow you to disable the telemetry portion. You’re right that the features Cortana and Google Now offer over Siri do require tracking data, but not the telemetry stuff. That’s just Microsoft thinking “we want this data to make windows better and your concerns are silly”.
The people thinking this isn’t a privacy issue are the ones being fooled by the FBI/CIA/NSA when they talk about collecting metadata as opposed to content.
Clawing back the unlimited storage space; I could have called that the second it was announced. $100 a year doesn’t actually cover a 20 terabyte torrented movie and TV show collection, guys :). Going rate with Google Drive etc seems to be $120 a year for 1TB, so with One Drive you essentially get Office for free.

Yep, that’s still a pretty good deal, and the way they’re clawing it back isn’t too terrible for paid customers.
Pulling back the free storage from 15GB to 5GB is silly, though. OneDrive is already an inferior service, why would they limit it to 1/3 the space of google drive? My only explanation is that the new MS doesn’t see OneDrive as a service they care about growing, and they want it to lose less money.

For some reason I thought paid Office365 users were being clawed back as well. However, my Canadian Office365 never got the “unlimited” quota that was advertised last year and “only” showed 1TB all this time. I’m satisfied with it remaining at that level.
I’m a Canadian Office365 subscriber and had mine show “10 TB” soon after the “unlimited” was announced. It never got to unlimited, but 10 TB was more or less fine for a while. Still says 10 TB right now. Seems the “unlimited” never got rolled out completely.
The mid tier paid service is now half the GB of Google too.
Horrible job from a PR perspective for Microsoft.
