Wiping a hard drive - XP

I have a friend with an old, slow PC and she’s giving it away but needs the drive wiped. She’s done her taxes on it so we want to make sure any data it may have had is unrecoverable.

What is the best way to handle this? It’s running XP, home edition.

Need to wipe a Windows Vista PC and a Windows XP PC. Is DBAN still the way to go?
