Wisconsin governor goes bonkers

Dane County Circuit Judge Juan Colas.

Walker administration will appeal, certainly.

Does it go to the state Supreme Court now?

It goes first to the intermediate Court of Appeals in Madison. That court can request certification to the state Supreme Court if it decides that the case involves legal questions that can’t be decided under existing law. The Supreme Court would then have discretion to take the case (3 of the 7 justices must vote to take the case) or to instruct the Court of Appeals to decide the case. The losing party in the Court of Appeals could then appeal to the Supreme Court, but, again, the Supreme Court would have discretion to take the case or not.

This is exactly what happened. Republicans will again have a one or two seat majority in the state Senate and increased their majority in the House. So Wisconsin continues its schizoid electoral personality: 1) Going for Obama and electing a liberal Democratic senator who is, if anything, even more liberal than the one she succeeds. She is also Wisconsin’s first female senator and (I believe) the first openly gay U.S. senator period; while 2) turning the state government once again all red.

When a thread shows up at the top of the list but there are no recent posts, it’s usually because there was a spammer whose post got deleted.

Ahh thanks fish!
