Neither am I. After gay marriage passed in NY, I thought maybe in 60 years we will see that here.

This is interesting if only because Prosser, even under investigation, still manages to look like a hothead.

Union curbs rescue a Wisconsin school district

So … reducing and paying less for employee benefits means the employer saves money? I’m shocked. Shocked, I say.

Yeah I don’t think the Union leaders were saying it was going to be a disaster for the budgets of the various state agencies - just that it was a disaster for their members.

I’m a bit torn here - discussing with my father a few weeks ago (who just retired from being a high level administrator for a University in the Midwest) about the stuff they have to go through with Unions (impossible to fire people without egregious cause, unable to move promising people into positions due to seniority rules, etc), I’m not sure if what Wisconsin did is that bad of an idea :/

The Examiner is one of Philip F. Anschutz’ right wing pamphlets.

There’s no question that organized workers - like any other pressure group - can wind up contributing to problems. Sometimes having management/government win particular labour disputes with unions is the better outcome in the end. But that’s not the same as eliminating collective bargaining, striking at the very heart of what a union is for. There are always better solutions, that’s just evil/scary/class-warry.

So has it been a disaster for the members?

Your article doesn’t even try to answer that. If I was a teacher, I would say yes it was (lower salary and change in health insurance provider)

Not any more. Gravity Collection Inc. purchased Clarity Media Group which owned the Examiner.

The article wasn’t about the members, except any member who might live in that town would certainly benefit from the better local budget situation.

All I asked for was show me where it has been a disaster for the members like the Unions claimed it would be.

It’s still run by right-wing dingbats as far as I can even tell, since it’s too shady to even have a clear editorial board page. I was looking at it for about 2 seconds before I realized I was looking at a far-right blog and started googling it to find out who it was fronting for.

And yeah, Nitram, removing collective bargaining doesn’t make unions go away in the course of a few weeks since the law began to have legal force. How is this a thing we’re even arguing?

Yeah, I’m not going to do that because A. I never said they were right B. merely pointing out that the article was arguing against something the Union leaders never really claimed to begin with.

What website were you at, Gravity Collections Inc?

The article wasn’t arguing anything, it was pointing out that the law is helping with budgets which is the reason it was passed. It also pointed out that the town will now save on healthcare costs which in turn will save members money on their portion of the contribution.

What website were you at

The Washington Examiner’s. If you don’t immediately see that it’s in that lovely category of sub-Washington-Times-level yellowness then it’s unlikely anyone can explain it to you.

Well, that’s what Prime Minister Chretien did to a protester back in 1996

So would this link have been better or is this just another right winged paper?

“Kaukauna schools project $1.5M surplus after bargaining changes”

Nitram: Well, I’ve never heard of it, but that one looks like an actual newspaper.

As long as it makes you happy.

Pretty much.
