I assume the “Director’s Cut” will be out on Impulse as well…?

He’s using his PR on us!

You’ve been doing this a while now, Tom. You probably deserve some kind of golden weasel statue, awarded at a gala dinner.

hehe… well, really, there is a difference. We don’t want to shut the door to the possibility of one day doing a console Witcher.

Well, you’d better do it quick before you run out of suffixes to attach to it, because Witcher: Enhanced Edition: Director’s Cut: Ultimate Edition: Gold Pro XTreme is going to blow out a database somewhere.

Jesting aside, I would have bought The Witcher on 360, just to see what changed. I’m a little disappointed they haven’t accelerated the English translations of the books. The game is the first time it’s really broken out into English speaking territories, despite being popular all over Europe. 21st October 2010 for book 2 of the main cycle, according to Amazon UK. I might be dead before they finish it. “A Song of Ice and Fire” could be finished first!* You should be using your PR on the book publishers. Synergising or something.

  • ONLY JOKING.

I’m bummed, too. I came into this thread hoping that there was some news on the console version, only to find that the news is bad. :(

I’m kind of shocked the ESRB actually gave it an M. I mean, the uncensored content is really pretty tame, but I’ve been conditioned to expect wild overreaction to sexual content in games.

I know this has been covered before, but I can’t seem to find it now. I just installed the game fresh and have updated to patch 1.5. What is the easiest way to un-censor my US version?

The easiest way is to wait a week or two and get the Director’s Cut patch :)

thanks, zengonzo!

Version 1.5 is now available on Impulse.

Uncensoring the cards isn’t that special, however I do recommend getting whatever it is that uncensors the nude models on some of the NPCs (forget if it’s the same “hack” or not).

i believe the files in the post that zengonzo linked to will also uncensor the models. thats what the witcher forum thread says anyway.

I finished the tutorial level for the first time in this game, and so far I’m pretty disappointed with the combat. KOTOR with blood, when it should be more like an evolved Gothic. Then again, the more genuine action RPGing in Demon’s Souls probably ruined a lot of things for me.

Gothic 1/2 has a good combat, but I enjoyed the one in Witcher more (hard difficulty is a must).Mainly because it involved beautiful combos, signs, potions, oils…

I’m only on Normal for the moment, but unless “Hard” changes the click-wait for animation-click thing or explains parries and the like to me (are they just not in the tutorial? I hate having to read the manual for basics), I don’t think it’s going to address my key concern. I’d just as soon play the actual full Bioware pause and click over this. But there’s enough promise in the rest of it to keep me interested for now, and of course it may grow on me.

Well for starters, hard eliminates the flaming sword cursor, so you actually have to pay more atention to the timing and sounds, plus since it is more difficult overall it forces you to use all that the game offers (=more fun).

But even if that does not satisfy you, there is a mod called “Flash”, which reworks the combat system and even CDP recommends it.I have not tried it yet though, I was pretty happy with the vanilla combat.
As for the rest of the game - it was my GOTY of 07, so yeah, it is worth it : ).But I love the books also (read all 2000 pages of 2 short stories and 5 novel books in one week), so seeing that world with my own eyes was amazing.

Edit- and here is another mod created by Flash -

The trailer there is absolutely badass : ).But I recommend skipping first minute or so, there is location spoiler kind of.

Great, that might definitely help. Hopefully it works well with 1.5.

According to the creator it does not matter if you have 1.4 or 1.5, it works well with both.

But beware of the increased difficulty - medium is hard and hard is insane.
