Her posts did make more sense than Brandon’s.
Sorry if I’ve missed this in the thread somewhere.
I recently acquired an OEM version of the game, and I’m wondering if there is an easy step by step guide on patching this thing to EE, and the latest patch. Oh, and I’d also like bewbies too.
Thanks in advance.

Though I find myself no less baffled by the turn this thread has taken
I think Angie did 1000 words of a dinosaur story in lieu of a dinosaur picture. As for what dinosaur pictures have to do with anything … erm, I’ll let someone else explain that.
Just gave a first time listen to that “Witcher Inspired” cd and I can’t express how much I love the song “Bring to the boil” from polish group Beltaine…I had to listen to it 5 times straight and I still do not have enough : ).Some other songs were great too, but this one…gotta buy their cd or something…
Blergh. The thing that bothers me about activation DRM has always, always been that it ties the future functioning of the game to servers that may or may not still exist down the road. So a patch that requires a check against servers before it removes the DRM really pretty much defeats the purpose of removing it, as far as I’m concerned.
What are you talking about? There is no activation in The Witcher, and there never has been.At least in retail versions that is.

Didn’t we already mention this? When you install the EE patch, the game phones home to verify that your copy is legit. The game uses DRM to remove other DRM. This, as malkav and Brandon explained, kind of defeats the purpose.
Aha:
"Q: Do I need to be on-line during patch installation?
A: Yes, you must be on-line throughout the installation process so that your registration data can be verified. No private data is taken from your computer during this process."
You are right.Sorry. And how does it work? Where do you have to register and how does it verify your copy? I only have retail EE so I have no idea.
No mister, it’s how I explained. I explained it. That’s the whole point. Maybe now you’re getting it. Patch 1.5 is touted by all of you as the mighty patch that removes DRM from The Witcher. It does so, technically, with a final check. Ironic at best.

Dude, no need to get snarky with me. I’ve always agreed with you on this point. Here, take your credit.

I want to reinstall this game and actually play it but I can’t. I get to the registration part after signing in, put in the cdkey and it says “please sign in and enable cookies on internet explorer” or something along those lines. I can only assume its because I’m running windows 7 but I don’t know for sure.
I know its been said a million times before but I fucking hate DRM with a burning passion and hate pirates (software no real life) for forcing the industry to such drastic measures. They are out their playing a illegal copy of my game while I the paying customer am getting cockblocked by some cookie error.
Yes I do have cookies turned on
I foresee a Banana’s and Nuts update!
