So the boxed NA EE edition can be upgraded to the same point as the EE (I) edition now? I remember reading that also takes off the CP correct?
I recently bought the NA EE retail box (haven’t installed it yet), and my understanding is that you install that, then install the 1.5 patch, and then finally install the “Director’s Cut” patch. That gives you everything and removes the DRM.

One last stupid question, does the NA EE box version have the same pack in bonuses (sound track, artbook, etc) as the I EE version? Amazon didn’t mention that on the description page.

Yep, the Enhanced Edition is the same worldwide (except for the nudie bits)
I’m replaying this, and I keep wondering if anyone ever uses a different weapon than the witcher swords. I mean it’s great and all you can pick up a flail, but how worthless is it if you can’t use your combat styles with it?

God dammit people this is the most important part.

That part can be added using the “Director’s Cut” patch, which also gets rid of the DRM too.

Fairly. Stick with the swords.

Yeah, I never really got that either. Hopefully in the sequel they will fix this.

The flail is to beat women with.
But that’s only in the Ultimate Edition. You have that one, right Jab?
I switch out weapons from time to time…for looks. Only use the swords for battle.

One of the slight enhancement that The Witcher could use in the second part is to give more variety in weapons, and more reasons to use them. It should be focused still in the steel and silver swords with styles, but from time to time it should be useful to use an axe against enemies with shields, a firetorch against monsters vulnerable to fire, that kind of thing.
Yeah, while I liked Witcher a lot, I didn’t get to play Barbie dress up with my character really at all. One or two armor switching and…well, I could upgrade my sword here and there.

Stupid question, I just bought the enhanced edition off of Steam that is supposed to be uncensored and such. However I got far enough to see that the game is still censored also I keep on getting a message about entering in a CD key when I start up the Witcher. Is there something I need to do with the CD key to get the uncensored edition?
The enhanced version does not, in itself, uncensor the game - the version that does that is the “directors’ cut”, which I believe is a free patch to the enhanced version.
No idea about the steam/cd issue.
If you’re seeing censoring then something’s gone wrong – the Steam version should include the director’s cut content if it was purchased after July 31st. You didn’t have another version installed already, did you?

Minor spoiler relating to the censorship
IIRC, Triss’s first card is “censored” even in the European/director’s cut edition of the game. To check if you have the director’s cut content, see if you’re getting the extra bloody finishing moves like decapitations, or get to the second sex scene, which is the barmaid in the little village you go to after the introductory sequence.
I totally burned out on the Witcher in…chapter 5 maybe? The big open city chapter where you are in the nobility quarter…but this sale is making me interested again.
Question: can a non-steam save game work if repurchase this on Steam? I sold my old copy.
That was chapter 3, you still had chapter 4+5+epilogue to go, and you suck for selling The Witcher. :P
It looks Atari wisened up, the is finally available outside North America on Steam. Since it was on sale I couldn’t resist and grabbed it!
However… holy crap, 14 gigabytes?! I’m on capped bandwidth here and this will certainly help drain it fast next month.
