Then you make another 700 passes and hope one of them goes in so you win by one goal again.
Well that first half was a wash. Let’s pretend that didn’t happen. New 45 minute football match coming up in 15 minutes guys! Spain vs Russia.
Not sure why the commentator is criticising the Russian strategy of just sitting back. It worked! Spain finally ran out of patience and gave up ball possession.
I keep hearing commentators mention that being in that shell defense is exhausting. Not sure I see it. To my eyes, it looks like a great way to rest and prepare for a swift counterattack if you can intercept that one errant pass.
It’s mentally exhausting if not physically.
I think Spain are trying to bore Russia into losing
Russians to Pique: Remember comrade, when the corner comes you have to raise your arms above your head.
Or “we have Shakira, if you want to see her again you know what you have to do.”
Nacho is out. Now I can stop being hungry every time his name comes up.
BBC 5 announcer, when Spain pass the ball slightly forward: “We might actually see them in the offensive third here!” In tones usually reserved for serious chances.
Have Spain had any shots yet? Even missed ones? They had one in the 46th minute of the first half, I think.
Can you imagine if this is the first soccer match someone is watching? They’ll think it’s like the Simpson’s depiction of the sport.
These confused commentators make me think they haven’t seen Spain since about 2008.
I’m really impressed with Russia’s patience.
Breaking news on the BBC broadcast: Andy Murray won’t play in Wimbledon this year. That’s how boring this match is, they would rather talk about tennis while waiting on something to happen.
I’m beginning to wonder if Spain won their World Cup because the ref gave it to them because he wanted to go home.

The Spanish are delighted with this. Provided it doesn’t backfire on a counter-attack the Russians could enjoy trying to run side-to-side over and over without making any mental errors for the next 40 minutes.
Phew! That was close. Spain almost scored. I guess that means it’s time to start attacking.
5 minutes left in regular time.
Please Russia, do us all a favor.
