World Net Daily at it again

From everyone’s favorite “reliable” news source:

Heh.

This rumor has been going around for years. And they do have really good Pentagon sources, so I dunno.

What’s so unthinkable about that?

Hell, I’d have shot down anything in the sky that wasn’t responding to orders properly within seconds of the 2nd WTC crash.

I’d have no problem with them shooting a terrorist controlled plane out of the skies either. I doubt many people would. Do you think those combat air patrols over major metropolitan areas after 9-11 were armed with blanks?

If they shot Flight 93 down, great. Yay for the military doing its job. Why they wouldn’t admit it if they did is a more interesting question.

Or the other interesting question: Why didn’t they take down the 2nd plane before it crashed into the towers?

In Rumsfeld’s sentence, terrorists shot down that plane, not the US. He was condemning the act, and he used the wrong verb — the one that applies to more recent events in Afghanistan and Iraq that he’s had to comment on. I’m sure it was just a slip of the tongue.

That’s what I’m making light of.

The “reliable” World Net Daily turning the words “the people who attacked the United States in New York, shot down the plane over Pennsylvania and attacked the Pentagon” into “Rumsfeld admits that the US shot down jet liner”.

Again, why would he say that terrorists shot it down?

Because he’s an idiot? It’s not like Rumsfeld is unknown for mistakenly saying stupid things that don’t make sense in anything but a parallel dimension.

Maybe, but there’s enough circumstancial evidence that I can’t say either slip is more likely.

I’m far more willing to believe that saying the terrorists “shot down the plane over Pennsylvania” was just him misspeaking “brought down the plane” than I am WND’s view that it’s proof that the US shot the plane down.

That’s not to say that I wouldn’t believe that they in fact did so, just that I believe using those words, in that context, as proof of this is just silly.

Because at that point, no one was sure it was an attack. There was still the possibility of a very, very bad piece of luck.

The 9/11 Commission’s final report contains a detailed description of events aboard Flight 93, using the active cockpit voice recorder to document the final moments. It’s worth reading.

Passengers began using a drinks cart to batter at the locked cockpit door, causing the hijackers to try to shake off the assault by jinking the plane. But “the assault was sustained,” so…

Jarrah asked, “Is that it? Shall we finish it off?” A hijacker responded, “No. Not yet. When they all come, we finish it off.” The sounds of fighting continued outside the cockpit. Again, Jarrah pitched the nose of the aircraft up and down. At 10:00:26, a passenger in the background said, “In the cockpit. If we don’t we’ll die!” Sixteen seconds later, a passenger yelled, “Roll it!” Jarrah stopped the violent maneuvers at about 10:01:00 and said, “Allah is the greatest! Allah is the greatest!” He then asked another hijacker in the cockpit, “Is that it? I mean, shall we put it down?” to which the other replied, “Yes, put it in it, and pull it down.”

The passengers continued their assault and at 10:02:23, a hijacker said, “Pull it down! Pull it down!” The hijackers remained at the controls but must have judged that the passengers were only seconds from overcoming them. The airplane headed down; the control wheel was turned hard to the right. The airplane rolled onto its back, and one of the hijackers began shouting “Allah is the greatest. Allah is the greatest.” With the sounds of the passenger counterattack continuing, the aircraft plowed into an empty field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, at 580 miles per hour, about 20 minutes’ flying time from Washington, D.C.

Jason- Why wouldn’t the government admit shooting down the plane?

Andrew- Because we didn’t know it was a terrorist attack until the second plane?

Why do people always say that terrorists “blew up” the Twin Towers, when they actually collapsed? People slip up all the time.

Jason- Why wouldn’t the government admit shooting down the plane?

Why won’t the government admit anything? They still deny having a fighter in the area, right?

Based on the evidence, what probably happened is they had a fighter shadowing them and were discussing shooting it down, but the passengers did it first.

From tomorrow’s World Net Daily:

“Jason McCullough admits that the passengers shot down their own plane! Rumors that one of the passengers had a air to air missile in their pants pocket turn out to be true”

:D

A good war needs heroes.
