Yeah, actually come to think of it, that is very apparent as well. I could usually sneak past rocks/corners of houses etc with SU-26, but not with Wespe. I did get a bit more successful with Wespe when I chose one of the “assault” corridors to support and move up with, remembering when hills etc would be in way.
Someone in chat suggested a rather brutal premium tactic - get the German T2 premium PzKpfw 38H735 (f) load it up with a 100% crew, spall liner and improved ventilation. Then go forth and destroy. Dude had a 66% win ratio

Total cheese to the point of breaking methinks
(not sure why the last one, think 100% is max for crew)

Have you ever seen Paimonn’s record on the Qt3 channel? He’s got around 60% with most of his tanks!
Paimonn, can you give us some tips!?!
66% for the Pz38H is not very unusual, actually. For it’s tier, it is massively overpowered - even without expensive modules. Which is why the devs have stated that it’s going to get hit with the nerf-bat.
It isn’t. 100% is the cap on “normal” training, but you can go beyond that with modules (and possibly the commander bonus). In fact, the values you see on your tank’s stat sheet are based on a crew in excess of 100% skill, IIRC. Whatever level it is you can get to if you top off all the possible module addons. 120% or something like that.
Yeah, on the Russian forums, they call the Pz38H “MiniMaus”. It’s ridiculously overpowered for its level and is going to be nerfed in 6.4.
About the new trees, the reason they can’t offer a respec (well, one of the reasons) is because all these changes will be introduced over the course of many months, not by one big patch. The devs even said they will introduce temporary ways to open the new vehicles when they release a higher tier one before its pre-requisite.
I imagine the trees are going to be a mess in several months but I actually don’t mind - more tanks, more fun. IMO they should have done the new trees for the US release to keep it new and exciting for the beta players.
I leveled out of the KV-3 and was actually quite sad by it. I hated it in the begining (it’s so slow!) but over time I got used to it, adjusted my play style and really enjoyed it in the end. I even decided not to sell it (going to need it before the new trees are released anyway) and maybe fully upgrade it eventually. This is probably one of the slowest tanks in the game (if not the slowest) and you really need to adjust in order to enjoy it.
In comparison, as much as I love the IS, its stock 85 mm gun is so terrible, especially after playing like 100+ battles with 107 mm on both the KV and KV-3. The next 100 mm gun seems ok though, even if it’s still worse than the 107 mm…
Do you guys think the 122 mm gun is worth to upgrade to? It seems to be much slower and less accurate with a bit more damage.
Oh and I also remembered what was my least favorite TD - it’s JagdPz IV. Especially after the Stug. It feels so underpowered for the fights it gets into, the short 88 mm is a frustrating gun and the 62K+ exp is a lot of grinding for such a crappy TD.
In the beta, I stuck with the 100mm until I had unlocked the second of the two 122mm guns. Worked pretty well for me.
I don’t know, the second 122 mm is about 10% faster to reload but it’s still very slow and inaccurate. I actually forgot their penetration and damage values, gotta check and think about it.

I unlocked the 10.5 cm StuH 42 L/28 for my HEzter and put it on, but it is pretty dissapointing so far.
It certainly seems to give a bit more punch, but way less accuracy and ROF. Turns the hetzer from a sniper to a brawler really.
In beta with 100% crew, spall, vent and coated optics the 38H was a troll machine - it has 45mm of armour on the turret’s face at a tier where a lot of the people you face are going to be using auto-aim and hitting that very spot.
A lot of tier 1 and early tier 2 guns will just bounce off the turret and on the BT-2, for example, it’s not until you tech through the upgraded turret and new guns that you’ll find something that will routinely pen the 38H’s face.
Of course, the thing also handles like a barge, but if you’re driving one and you make sure the battle stays in front of you, then it’s hilarious.
I’m conflicted to hear they’re nerfing it, because it was a lovely palate-cleanser for the end of the evening before signing off, but it probably needs it.
Is everybody’s preference for the KV the 107mm cannon? I haven’t unlocked it yet but I’m not sure I’d want to trade in the 1-shot potential that the 152mm has, despite the ridiculously slow reload and relative inaccuracy.
Yeah, I prefer the 107 by about 10 fold. Three big reasons:
- MUCH higher rate of fire
- Very accurate
- Great penentration
It still does more than enough damage to one-shot most lower tier foes, and since it fires about 4x faster, you can kill 4x as many enemies with it. My all-time high for kills in one battle is with the 107 on a KV: in beta, I killed 10, and in release, I’ve killed 9.
I agree with Dave.
And with my 107 mm equipped, I’ve killed countless KV’s who had 152 - they’d miss me with one shot or hit me for like 70% of my health and I’d kill them in 2-3 shots with 107.
IIRC the 152 mm is the most inaccurate gun in the game, I hated it when I tried for awhile.
I tend to go for accuracy, followed by reload speed, followed by damage. I just can’t stand missing shots.
What’s the best gun for the T-26? I’ve been using the 45mm but it seems like most people are using the tier-3 37mm because of its higher penetration?
Yes, the inaccuracy of the 152mm is pretty devastating, especially combined with the long reload. If you miss a shot, it’s pretty much lights out. I’ll see how the 107mm feels once i grind out that 14k exp. :)
The 152mm on the KV made a good deal of sense in the beta, when your KV got dumped into games (at the bottom of the list) with tier 8-9 tanks on a regular basis. Being able to deal huge amounts of damage to them regardless of armor was very convenient.
Now in the release version the matchmaker is much more fair, so the 107mm is going to be useful in the vast majority of situations.
If going for KV-3, then 107mm without a doubt.
If going for the KV-1S, stick with the stock turret and unlock the 122mm U-11 instead (thus saving some 18,000 XP). You’ll be using that one on the KV-1S till you get the final (122mm D-2-5T) gun.
If you plan to keep the KV as a money maker, then unlocking the KV-2 turret and getting the 107mm gun is again the best course of action.
Playing maybe 5 games a day. I am actually enjoying T46 - a tank I never played in beta. The long 45mm is a good gun for its tier (0.32 accuracy, good penetration, 30/min. Damage pretty low though) and the tank is fast enough. Thinking of keeping it - would like to see what a decent crew can do with this tank (think I am at 55% or so…)
Huh, while I could see it being underpowered in the beta, with the horrid matchmaker there, now it’s a very different case. The short 88mm is pretty good for the tier 5-7 opposition one gets matched with. Tier 8 heavies are more of a problem but still are quite vulnerable from the sides and back.
And this also gives me the opportunity to brag a little. :)
This is what the JagdPanzer IV can do! This would never have been possible in the beta, as the matchmaker would have paired me with a bunch of tier 8 and 9 vehicles, and not a bunch of tier 5 through 7s.
I actually really like this thing. It’s got a great thin profile that makes it harder to hit even when spotted – and it doesn’t get spotted easily thanks to its stealth capabilities. Its armor actually bounces things once in a while in the tiers it participates in and the gun deals very nice damage for the tier. It’s also quite accurate and has a fast reload.
Pretty much the only weaknesses of the vehicle are low penetration (at least relative to Russian tier 5/6 vehicles) and low maximum speed. Who’s bright idea was it to cap this thing at 38kph?
Bravo, Ender! That looks like some of my KV’s victory screens, and it’s a great feeling to get one like that.

Just started playing this yesterday and I’m getting into it. One noob question, is it better to go for guns that have high penetration or ones that have a higher average damage.

I’ve quite enjoyed this one as well in tier 3. The short 75mm gun is also fun - load it with HE and cross your fingers you get put in the top of a tier2/3 match :-) Getting in close and brawling is great fun.
