I don’t like that idea because then you nerf the experience gained by stock tanks who just entered that tier, who don’t have upgraded guns. You leverage yet another somewhat unfair advantage onto people who buy Gold. This is why I mentioned giving flat XP for simply hitting a tank and doing damage, or perhaps set a low damage threshold (repeatedly shooting a heavy tank you can’t penetrate should not give experience, for example).

The built-in incentive is that finishing off the tiger means you don’t die when he shoots next. This is already how it works (you gain most xp for causing dmg). I do think the leaderboard being tied to dmg caused would be a good change though.

Wow. The Su-5 is unbelievably awful. Guess I’m not pursuing the Russian artillery path any further.

I decided to take advantage of the 1/2 price equipment deal and buy two cammo nets for the price of one. This will delay my move into the M3 Lee, but I hear that that tank is a terrible slog, so I’m not exactly super excited to jump into it.

Meanwhile, I’ve been having a great time screwing around with the M2 Light and M2 Medium, although my game outcomes are very clearly linked up with whether or not I’m placed on the “high” or “low” end of any given match’s power curve. This is most notable in the M2 Medium, where I’m either one-shotting a bunch of tier 2 light tanks from behind cover or else bouncing shells off the hulls of tier 5 heavies and getting one-shotted. A similar effect occurs in my M2 Light matches when I’m paired up against a bunch of Traktors and Cunninghams.

As I move up the tiers, will the power levels equalize?

personally I think it gets even wider in differences in higher tiers, but part of that is because I play a lot of lights :)

In my experience, if you are playing anything other than a light tank you can generally hurt anything in the match, although you may or may not be able to take that many hits from them. The main exception I’ve run into is the KV-3, which I have serious trouble damaging. Apparently the developers have noticed this too and it’s moving up to Tier VII on the revised tech trees (of course, who knows when these will be implemented!)

Light tanks are mostly their for scouting and will have trouble damaging heavy tanks and some of the heavier mediums. They should be able to hit artillery and the lighter-armoured tank destroyers (such as Marders or SU-76 or SU-85B).

You may also run into trouble if you have one of the lower-end guns for your vehicle and you are attacking one of the highest tier vehicles in the match. But generally upgraded guns on even the lowest-tier (non-light tank) vehicles should be able to damage anything on the field.

God dammit.

Korbaan warned me of this, and I didn’t listen because I was already 2/3 of the way to unlocking the SU-5 from the Su-26 tree.

It’s unlocked but I still need some more credits to buy it.

Dammit.

you have 14 rounds of ammo…

Yeah, go the KV path to get farther on the Arty path, its a fun tank.

Your upgraded gun has 14 rounds and a substantially lower range than the Su-26’s upgraded gun. Whee.

The money grind is really killing me at this point.

I think all my tanks are Elite and I can’t afford shit.

Really not happy about getting screwed out of my freebie tank and I’m not playing enough to really justify getting a Premium account right now.

Its just painful to need 180k for a tank and make maybe 3k on a good match after repairs and ammo. Sure sometimes I get 5k or even 7k, but I also often get 1-2k, so it really balances out towards the lower end of 3k. Thats 60 matches. And thats assuming I could play them back to back, which I can’t cause once my P3A gets tossed into a T5 match its stuck there forever.

My AT-1 and T57 do alright for money most of the time, but its nothing special by any means. 2k is probably the norm for the T57. The AT-1 is a complete crapshoot depending on what its up against.

scout moar. you get cred and xp for spotting stuff. so run. run forward in a mad banzai rush for cred. frak survival and winning. you need money and you need it fast

For the Tiger I, you have to unlock and equip the suspension before you can use the better turret, right?

Almost certainly. I sometimes check by comparing the weight of the item I’m replacing with the weight of the new item. I’ve seen engines and occasionally guns that weigh less than the original equipment. I’m very doubtful that a turret would weight less.

It’s possible that there may be a little bit of excess weight capacity available, but I’m doubtful it would be enough for the upgraded turret. I think if you check the “Weight/Load Limit” numbers on the far right of the garage screen it should tell you how much more weight you can put on.

Thing is, you don’t get anything really for doing that.

Fortunately I remembered the secret: Arty.

So I bought the M37 or whatever the T3 Arty is.

Amazing mission on Pz3A: 5-7.5k
Good mission on Pz3A: 3k
Bad mission on Pz3A: 1.5k

Amazing mission on M37: 12k
Good mission on M37: 7.8k
Bad mission on M37: 5k

Yeah.

Got my Panzer 3 after spending 90k extra for another vehicle and got it faster than I would’ve had I just stayed with the 3A.

They really need to rework how money is awarded.

I can do well in a match at my Tier. In a above my tier match, ALWAYS terrible. I can scout the entire enemy team and get 3k. Since usually you just explode doing that, you usually get 1.2k. Since you can’y hurt anything you get no money.

Meanwhile on my Arty I can miss everything and still break 3k. If I hit something its 5k+ easy. Cause it can actually hurt things.

The SU-5 is probably the worst vehicle in the game, but the SU-8 is great.

Don’t take the top gun, take the second gun, but get the higher damage ammo. You have like 26 rounds or so with only very slightly less damage and penetration.

Where I’m getting frustrated though is playing normal tanks. It’s rough with a KV to get matched against tiger’s and IS’s. I kept getting matched with IS-4’s. HE doesn’t even get through for any damage.

It’s going to get tougher. In my tier 7 T43 i had my first match resembling beta. A Maus and 3 IS4 topped my team, with tier 8s and top end arty (GW Tigers) filling the rest of the spaces. I was the lowest tank on the team, just tier 7 arty below me. We won though, the IS7, Pershing and T54 matched against our top tiers didn’t stand a chance, especially as the IS7 came alone via a different route.

A tier 7 matched against a tier 10 and 3 tier 9’s does suck… but to be tier 5 and be matched against 3 tier 9’s is just unforgivable.

im about ready to just give up this game, I have a t-46 currently and I keep getting put in battles with many hvy tanks that I cant even damage and that can one shot me pretty much every time. Id like to be able to do something, but it seems impossible right now.

brett sorry to hear that. the game is such fun when it works properly. try not to take a loss too serious. you can not win them all. you have no control over team composition or match making. if you manage a little over 50% win, you are doing very very well.
The tier 3 and 4s are rough. its how the game is built, sometimes you are the bear, sometimes the bear gets you.
remember that you get half the xp and cred for damage done to tanks that are shot because you are uncovering them for the shooter. This means long gunned tank destroyers, heavies and especially artillery are your friends.
take for example malinovka (campinovka). if you are on the side that lacks the sheds, try making a run to the other side and parking right up to the left most shed. with luck you will make it across, because the enemy will still be setting up while you are making your run. when you get there, just sit. because you are probably right close to the enemy, you will uncover them even through the building. this enables your team to frack them the frack up. good times :) you will die by the way.
