World’s smallest violin here playing just for the KVs ;)

You’ll start loving it once you can mount the guns that require the KV2 turret–that is, if you can tolerate playing a very slow brick that is best used as a turreted TD. If you can, it’s great.

It’s painfully slow, but that made me a better player. You’ll end up sticking with the pack, doing more damage, and surviving longer.

It’s stock gun is really pathetic.

Basically the gun upgrade order is: 122 mm U-11, then the 107 ZiS-6 (or maybe the 152mm M-10)

The 122 doesn’t require the turret upgrade, but only has HE ammo, it’s a decent gun, not great, but it will let you actually do something besides bounce shells off of medium tanks of the same tier.

The two guns that require the turret upgrade, both are fun, I like the accuracy of the ZiS-6, along with its faster reload times. But the other one, the ‘derp’ gun, will let you one shot a lot of tanks, just don’t miss, since it takes forever to load.

I really enjoy my KV, in games were I’m top tier, I’ve gotten 8 kills in one battle, and can routinely get lots of kills, while lots and lots of shells just bounce off of you. And even in games where my KV is mid or low tier, I can still contribute since I have good range and damage. And once you get the engine and track upgrades, its not that slow. I also highly recommend buying the trained crew, I started at 75% and I’m now at 93% crew rating, which really helps.

One last tip I’d give, is find all the arty blind spots on the maps, that’s where the KV needs to hang out. I find it’s pretty good at city brawling, just alright in the forest, but only with a spotter, and try not to go by yourself, the turret traversal is pathetic, so a single medium tank can ruin your day if caught in the open.

My T-34 eats KV’s for breakfast if it manages to get into brawl/dance of death range. In a shoot-out it loses pathetically, and a derp will one-shot it, but if i manage to get ahead of that slow-ass turret traverse, the kill is mine :D

I had 9 kill streak in my StugIII last night. Most satisfying round I have had in the game to date.

So right now, kinda stuck in the T3s and its getting frustrating. It takes thousands of research to move on to t4, and i’m regularly getting grouped with T6s, so i’m not making a lot of kills, or getting a lot of research.

T1 - hmmm, looks promising!
T2 - this is awesome!
T3 - WTF?!

Is it worth continuing?

What’s your T3?

Anyway–my T4 Russian medium and TD are both a lot of fun, the T4 arty is hilarious (though the T5 arty is god-awful and made me abandon the line). The T4 light is…meh.

pzkpfw III aus a, then switched to a bt7, and an su26…

I didn’t enjoy many of the tier 3 or 4 tanks, and I especially did not like the BT-2 or BT-7. I take it you are working toward a T-34? I am as well, about halfway through the experience I need on the A-20. The A-20 has a bad rep, but I’ve liked it more than the BTs. It’s top gun can at least hurt people, a little, and I can take more than 1 hit (about 2, to be precise). I have heard good things about the T-34. The KV is also tier 5, and I’m sure how you have heard how awesome (overpowered?) that tank is.

As far as matchups, you will always get into some matches where you are on the bottom of the ladder, and can’t do all that much. All I can recommend is do your best to stay alive, follow a group, and chip in with whatever damage you can. The fastest way to get XP is by winning the match.

I don’t mind being at the bottom of the ladder - but 3 tier difference is pretty silly. I remember a round as arty, wailing away at a guy - hit him about 10 times as he went across the map. I did about 40% damage(roughly 4% a hit), and he one shot me. Adding insult to injury, i was just about out of ammo

aww poor thing. that sucks. the game can be fun at tier 4, but at tier 5 it can really shine again. still, until you are in a tier 10 tank, you will always at times get thrown in at the bottom rank as cannon fodder. its ok, you have other tanks to try again with.

T-34 is awesome. its not very tough and it isnt able to one shot anything but a tier 2 light tank. But it fires very fast, penetrates almost anything it hits and is fast and agile. it really rewards skillful play. i <3 it.

another really awesome tier 5 tank is the stugIII that comes after the horrible hetzer. this one has a really sweet gun and a good camo bonus, as well as being fast and agile. its a recipe for disaster (to the other team muahahaha)

remember when driving a low end light tank that all xp and cred that is earned because you put something on the map thru spotting, half of it goes to your account. so wait until the big guns have settled in, then run to the fire! its short, it hurts a little, but it will get you that pzIV in the end.

Strongly agree on both of these. Both lots of fun.

w00t, patchday tomorrow! my leo, t34 and m7 are very much looking forward to this patch.

I am going to have to organize some kind of charity fund to protect reputation of the Hetzer. :) It is actually a quite nice TD once you fully upgrade it. Don’t neglect upgarding tracks and engine, probably the first thing you have to upgrade is tracks and engine (as opposed to some other vehicles like IS or SU-85 that are pretty agile as stock and need their gun upgraded first).

The Stug III though is completely awesome. It’s the only tank that I kept as elite to earn some “free” exp to help me get over some bumps on other tanks (like the boring grind to switch from JagdPzIV to Jagdpanther).

I also totally love my Jagdpanther now, it’s a great TD and I hear it gets even better after the 6.4 patch with fixed camo and improved 105 mm gun.

AWESOME!

How the hell am I supposed to find time to play The Witcher 2 and WoT v.6.4 on Tuesday?

looking forward to it

I have fully upgraded my hetzers track and engines, as well as the 10.5cm gun. no radios as they arent used on any other vehicles and i therefore consider them wasted xp. besides its extremely cool looks, it has very little going for it imo. at least when facing tier5+ stuff. on low tier battles it rocks because its right 'ard :D

So this is the patch that alters the spotting mechanics, right? Does anyone have a general idea of how the changes will play out?

I started the thread, but I’m actually quite a n00b. In case I’m missing something, is it possible to actually get ANY tank in the game eventually by skill? or do you need gold, and thus have to buy anything but the lowest tanks?
In the store, everything costs gold, which at £6 for one tank, I think maybe not…
