I know, I remember when Juan still played EVE, heh.

Still puttering about in my little SU-18, grinding credits for expand into the other parts of the Russian tech tree. Not sure whether I should be pushing up the medium line and then crossing over to the heavy line through the KV-13 to the IS or spend XP on the heavy line through the KV to accomplish the same. I’d like to end up with a bit of everything in the end.

su 26 is where you want to be, dump the porta-potty and move up to SU 26.

Agreed. I just upgraded from SU-18 to SU-26 last night. I was surprised at how much better it was. I think the biggest difference is that the SU-18 took forever between my pulling the trigger and the time it fired and the shell came down. SU-26 seems much quicker, which makes a huge difference in actually shooting what you are aiming for.

The more powerful engine is nice too. Boy the SU-18 moves slowly!

I went down the Russian arty line a bit just so I could see what I was up against. I’ve had as much fun in the SU-26 as I’ve had in any tank.

SU 26 is much quicker because it’s the only arty with a 360 degree Turret, that mean you don’t have to move your tank to aim.

moving your tank reset your aiming reticule.

it’s very easy to hit moving target with su 26.

Also do not get SU 5 which is the arty after su 26, if possible skip it for SU 8 or get Su-51 from KV line. because SU 5 is weaker than SU 26…

it packs 14 rounds and barely does any more damage than su 26.

SU 51 is probably the best arty right now for russian, as a T6 Arty it packs the biggest gun with impressive amount of ammo. you don’t need to upgrade to object # unless they came out with a T8 arty, because the next tier arty have the same gun as T6 artillery in Russian line.

Yeah, the SU-5 and SU-26 should really be swapped in tier position. Though it didn’t stop a guy in a lowe from cussing me up and down last night for shooting him repeatedly for 2-5% of his health.

I really hate premium tanks and most of the people who drive them nowadays. Especially when it’s a tier 8 heavy that is supposed to play a major role for its team but is being driven by someone who has no idea how to play a high tier heavy.

I cringe every time I see the Lowe as our top tank when the opposing team has the IS-3.

This. KV-5 too.

Yes I have confirmed this three days in a row now. I’ve been off sick a couple of days and have been playing WoT during US primetime evenings. Over 9K it is very laggy. During Australian evening times there are only about 5K to 6K players on and the game plays fine even with my 230ms ping.

I logged in just now and there are about 12.6K players on and tried a few games. Very laggy with tanks jerking about as they move. Makes it very hard to aim. It still shows 230ms but I notice the little green indicator is red most of the time which I assume indicates packet loss.

Also I notice Team Killers are a bit sneakier now with the automated ban system. Instead of outright killing team members they fire off one or two shots to damage a fellow team member. Last three matches I had each had one or two individuals doing this. Very annoying to go into a battle with less than 100% health because some moron is getting his joy out of damaging others.

I personally don’t agree with this. I’ve seen idiots use premium and free tanks. Many people who bought the premium tanks do so as an income generator to fund their other non-premium tank upgrades.

I have a garage of 12 tanks out of that I have one KV-5 which I bought because it is a good income generator to fund my Jagdpanther which operates at a loss during some of my matches. On a typical match my KV-5 can generate 1,000 experience and 60-80,000 credits. Using this I have almost saved up enough to buy my Ferdinand.

I am not an expert with heavy tanks as I mostly play TD’s but each battle I send my KV-5 in with other medium’s and heavies to break through enemy lines. It has a crappy gun and is slow as hell but is an excellent damage soak and if they are focusing on me it means they aren’t focusing on other members of my platoon. I’ve also found it makes for a great capping machine because of the damage it can take.

Whatever they’ve done to the Tiger, it worked. Not a single fire in 43 games. Gun knocked out only twice. Crew loss is consistent with other vehicles. Turret jammed twice. And I only have the 2nd engine upgrade, things supposedly get even better with the last one.

I also noticed something peculiar. Back in beta I was easily able to tolerate the slow aim time of Russian guns (especially the heavies), but now I just can’t take it. I haven’t really been playing my IS-2 and T-43 aside from the daily double XP matches. While doing about 60/40 Russian/German in beta, I now find myself playing almost entirely German vehicles. It’s got to have at least something to do with the stealth buffs for the 88mm L56 and 105mm L52 guns (accuracy improvement for both, 0.36 -> 0.33 and 0.34 -> 0.30 respectively). That and whatever the hit box fixes mean. Whatever the details, 0.6.4 has tremendously improved German machines.

But simultaneously 0.6.4 nerfed a bunch of previously effective game mechanics. If you now fire your gun, you lose any camouflage benefits from any bushes or trees within 15 meters of you – aside from the one providing the “most cover” – not exactly sure how that works. All I know is that in practice it means if you fire from what used to be certain concealment, you light up like a christmas tree and receive return fire almost immediately.
This has left German tier 2-7 and Russian tier 2-8 TDs hurting quite badly, as they only really had stealth to rely on. Now when they fire, they immediately get a ton of fire in return – often resulting in complete destruction.

I’ve had to completely readjust the way I play the Jagdpanther, for example, because the camouflage values on it are still fairly small, and the bushes don’t do anything anymore after even a single shot. Detecting targets by yourself is now extremely dangerous, so one has to rely on scouts and other teammates more than ever as a squishy TD.

Right now it seems to be World of Peekaboo medium and heavy tanks. Oh and the high tier TDs (all three of them) with actual armor.

Fun game is fun to me. Fairly well balanced too. I still hate facing T29s, the american T7 heavy. They are hard as hell and get a really hard hit at the end of their tree.

I’m not very happy about the new gold tanks. They are almost without fail played by rich fools. I look forward to getting myself an IS-3 and tearing each and every one of them motherfuckers a new one.

Its good to hear such good things about the german line. Perhaps I shall have to get me some kitties too then. Firing accurate guns always is fun.

I do think they are now encouraging you to take one shot and move immediately with any TD. Gonna be rough for them for awhile.

Didn’t notice any lag spike problems this evening even though there were way over 9000 players on, so hopefully they fixed whatever was causing it.

I can’t wait for the KV-3 and other Russian tanks to get up-tiered. That’s the one tank I consistently have trouble with. Alternatively I should probably rush to the KV-3 and get my own.

The huge numbers of Lowes and KV-5s are a bit annoying, but I guess it’s better than right after release when we had massive numbers of M6A2E1s. If nothing else the Lowes and KV-5s look better to me. Aesthetically the M6A2E1 just looks downright ugly IMO.

What?

A couple weeks ago Wargaming.net announced their long term plans for the tank tech trees. Amongst other changes these include:

[ul]
[li]Adding an extra tank between the KV-1 and the KV-3 thus pushing the KV-3 from it’s current Tier VI up to Tier VII.[/li][li]Creating two separate Russian heavy lines, which amongst other things moves IS-4 from Tier IX to Tier X.[/li][li]Moving the Panther down a tier from Tier VIII to Tier VII, moving the Panther II down to tier VIII, and introducing a new German Tier IX medium tank.[/li][li]Eliminating the USA T23 medium which moves the Pershing M26 down to Tier VIII and introducing a new USA Tier IX medium.[/li][li]Changing the high-end Tier IX and X USA heavies.[/li][/ul]
Hopefully the changes should pretty effectively deal with the commonly held belief that the Russian tanks are better than everything else by lowering the tier on the USA and German mediums and heavies.

Unfortunately no timeline is given on these changes (AFAIK) so it could be a while for us to continue on with a system they are now agreeing is unbalanced.

No mention of making the Su-5 not completely fucking terrible, eh? Great.

It’s a grind alright. :( Just use the second gun with the more expensive ammo. Not much less damage than the top gun, but twice the ammo capacity

I had a battle last night with opposing team having THREE Lowes. US$105 worth of enemy!

AND I WAS IN A PZ38NA (yes, tier 4)

It did not end well. Also, in related news otherwise the Pz38NA is interesting so far, not as ZOOM GOING REALLY REALLY FAST as the Leopard, but potentially more robust, more scout/radio range and the same decent for the tier high velocity (= penetration) 5cm gun.

So potentially an at least equivalent scout to the Leopard, with the added bonus of not currently being a dead end tech tree wise.

Only played a few matches on it though, need to play some more.
