Technically its not a deadend since the ISU-152 uses both guns and you need them to unlock the BL-10.

And its just a monster with its high ROF.

Yeah, you’re right, it’s useful for the next TD. It’s just not on the fastest path to the ISU. But I couldn’t see not getting it, it’s great.

EDIT: Of course, right after typing that, I found myself face to face with a lowly PzIV…and my 122 bounced off of him TWICE at point-blank range. Doh.

You think that’s bad? Last night my T23 with the 90mm did a mix of ricochet and bounces five times in a row on a stationary SU-14 (the big bus arty). It was really frustrating since I was out of HE as well by that point in the battle.

That thing has nearly no armor, so how does that happen?

Sounds like a wierd fluke unless you were hitting a very steep angle. It’s only got like 60mm armor if I recall. I had one in beta and while I remember bouncing shots from leopards, I certainly didn’t bounce from anything that big.

If you’re modeling this sort of ballistics even remotely realistically, a lot of weirdness can happen. At least, that’s my experience from a lot of wargaming tactical tank battles :).

I wonder if your shots were getting eaten by middle track sections?

While there is always ambiguity about just how accurate the commander voice reports are, he reported three “ricochet”, then “it bounced!” then one more “ricochet”. I was firing from the middle island on Komarin into the usual arty hiding spot.

Zero damage track shots usually just have that “cha ching!” sound and nothing happens, no feedback. Here there was feedback.

Admittedly this is very unusual, and I was absolutely incredulous at the time that one shot after another failed to damage such a soft target.

I’m wondering if your shots were only glancing the side of the target since it’s a fairly long range shot. The armor on the SU-14 certainly isn’t sloped enough to really bounce anything of that size. I can’t really think of anything besides terrible luck.

So, is Lum playing World of Tanks, or was that some poseur messing me up with his Grille?

If the shot angle is obtuse enough, it will bounce even if the gun has enough penetrating power. Ideally you want to shoot straight onto a tank turned 90 degrees to you. I’ve found sometimes it’s a tough call if the tank is slightly angled to you whether to shoot the thicker frontal armor or the side armor, which is thinner, but at a worse angle. At some point your angle onto the side armor is poor enough that the shot will always bounce, and you are better off taking your chances on the front (or loading HE).

its stuff like this that makes me <3 the game so much :)

also, my russian client is sucking up 6.5 update.

right, I alluded to knowledge of that mechanic 6 posts up thread…

The stock 3001H isn’t better. It has even less armor than its predecessor, the panzer IV.

0.6.5 out tomorrow, featuring USA tds and two new maps

Can anyone tell me if the suspension upgrade on the Tiger has any benefits asides from +2degrees traverse rate?

increased weight capacity. You may not be able to mount heavier turrets or guns without it.

You can mount all other upgrades on Tiger I with base tracks.

Suspension also limits your top speed afaik

It tends to help with acceleration and turning (even more than it says it does), not sure on top speed, though you’ll never hit the top speed without going downhill without the suspension.

Generally speaking suspension is nearly required for everything. The Tiger is an oddity in that it doesn’t require it immediately, but I wouldn’t want to go without it for very long. The thing is slow enough as it is.

OMFG the new voice actor!
