After getting a KV it’s nice to be at or near the top every once in a while for a change, for sure.

Definitely agree. It’s a great game. An excellent mix of action with strategy and tactics making a big difference.

When you’ve played as many matches as I have random chance just dictates that sometimes you’ll have big losing streaks. I get big winning streaks too – I won 8 in a row once. And just now, I logged in and won four in a row.

In other news, just got my first Scout award. That sucker seems almost impossible to get. I’ve gotten 8 tanks spotted a bunch of times, but this was my first time spotting the 9 needed.

I got it rushing across the field in Malinovka. If you are on the North East team and can get a tough medium across the field and sheltered in front of one of those buildings on the far side of the field, you can cause the enemy all sorts of problems. I’ve seen it successfully used against my own team a bunch, and have now adapted it as part of my repertoire. The key is you need to be fast enough and tough enough to actually make it across the field with enough health to stick around for a while.

You light up targets for your team, and it can be very difficult for the enemy to do anything about you once you’re behind those buildings. If they try to attack you, they are exposed to fire from your own base. If they leave you, they are lighted up constrained to stay behind the buildings with no fire opportunities and exposed to artillery if they aren’t careful.

I disagree. When you get into, for example, JagdPanther, which is about 3 times taller than its rpedecessor, the JgdPz IV, you can pretty much forget about hiding. Each vehicle in the game has its own “hiding” value, which lagerly depends on its size.

Of course, spotting/hiding being somewhat flaky and unreliable, one could argue that all that is irrelevant, since any vehicle has a chance to dissappear right in front of me. :) Doesn’t happen that often lately but still does, just had a huge ass KV-2 disappear like 100 meters away yesterday.

Seriously dude, just quit playing this game. You have so much rage built up, it’s not healthy.

How is it a game’s fault if your team sucks? Even if it sucks 10 times in a row? For each of your loses there are 15 guys who won. :)

It’s a team based game and with a lot of random in it too. Whether you win or not depends on 29 other dudes, some of them drunk, some of them stupid. If you get upset every time a bunch of idiots get killed without killing any enemies, you are going to have a heart attack.

I saw a T-28 for the first time in game the other day. If batman had a tank, the t28 would be it. Wow, what a badass looking tank.

Note that I didn’t say there was no consideration of size, only that I’m not sure it is adequately reflected on either extreme. Look, when the game puts a glowing red highlight around a vehicle already pointed out by a red symbol floating above it, you’re not going to get a realistic spotting equation. Yes, bigger vehicles usually get seen before smaller ones, roughly (assuming they’re all not invisible as is often the case), but I’m still not sure the difference is extreme enough. Of course, the problem is that size is abstracted into the camo and spotting values, there’s no direct link between actual size and visibility because the game doesn’t model actual physics-based optical spotting–it’s an abstracted mathematical model, more or less, as I understand it.

None of this is necessarily bad, but it contributes to the frustration of light tank drivers I think and contributes as well to the over reliance on huge beasts like Mauses.

You ground out an SU-14 and are one of the jackholes that says ‘fail team’ if you lose?

That’s an awful lot of time to be in a rage against something you really can’t control.

How are your stats in that bus? Are you sure it’s always the rest of the team’s fault? 90% of the time when someone says ‘fail team’ in my chat window they did something stupid, or did nothing at all.

I say “Fail Nobra!”

Wow, name calling so early in the morning. Did you get whacked by arty a few times before you came into this thread? Or are you one of the lemmings going to lemming hill on El Halluf, thinking to yourself, you saw it succeed one time 4 weeks ago, so you’re going to keep trying??

I said I have a saying, it doesn’t mean that I actually type it out, Mr Jump To Conclusions.

It’s frustrating to lose in whatever tank so many times in a row and as others have stated, it goes in waves and it pisses me off that I am only a statistic and rarely is the outcome of a game in my hands or even my platoon mates hands alone. Yes, it gets frustrating to look on the board and see our platoon the only ones alive with the 90% of the kills and the remaining 7 tanks bearing down on us or capping us out. If that isn’t fail team I don’t know what is.

Yes I ground out the SU-14 because quite frankly I loved the SU-5 and the SU-8. I just got the SU-14, transferring over my 100% crew, and the crew is already at 95%, doing more avg damage per round than the SU-8, even though our team lost so many rounds. I have 10 tanks in my garage - feel free to look up my stats, my WoT is TmanPDX, what is yours MrRageAgainstArtyPlayers??

So I broke down and bought a Lowe this past weekend – something I had vowed I wouldn’t do. But I have an Object 704 and IS-4 – on the verge of getting and IS-7 – and succumbed to the prospect of having a credit-making machine to support them.

I’ve played about 60 or so matches with the thing, and I have been frustrated as hell. Not with the credits – with the performance. I find the Lowe’s gun to be very bouncy. It’s accurate as hell – I hit 82% of the time – but, compared to my other tanks, it just seems like my shots bounce way too much, which is surprising to me considering its listed penetration values and the stories I’ve heard from others about how well they do with this machine. Again, I am not a noob. I have about 3,500 matches under my belt from back in the beta, and I know where to aim.

So, I ask, for those who have had success with the Lowe, what could I be doing wrong? Should I be using HE instead of AP shells, especially when shooting from long range? Could it just be that I’ve been spoiled by the Russian heavy and TD tank lines and I’m just experiencing the norm?

Name calling? Oh I did. And yeah I jump to conclusions, because the vast majority of the people in the game love to type ‘fail team’, why would I assume you don’t?

Yes, I play arty. I don’t rage against arty at all, I don’t know where you got that from whatsoever. I simply think the SU-14 grind is kind of long for the anger you display. You have to have a thick skin to play WoT for very long at all, and I’m wondering if you do?

And I don’t really care to compare stats with you, as this isn’t an e-penis contest in any way, shape or form. Yeah I lose a lot of games, yeah sometimes I do stupid things, yeah sometimes my team does it. About half the time, funny enough. The other half we have our cake and eat it too.

Knightsaber2002 if you really must see what I drive and my 50-some percent.

Rule one of WoT…if you’re thin skinned, this is not the game for you. If you can’t ignore raging morons, this is not the game for you.

By the way, it’s hilarious that because I said ‘SU-14’ you immediately jump on me for arty-hate, but in the same breath call me ‘Mr. Jump To Conclusions’. Oy vey.

Fight! fight! fight!

I love what direction the recent map edits have taken. lots of bits of cover and concealment. makes for fun gameplay and keeps mediums really in the game (if they dont play too stupid)

Im considering buying a löwe. I despise the frackers, but its getting 5000gold (20euros) more expensive. Does that mean they are now on discount? still 30 euros for a virtual tank is steep.

I agree you have to have a thick skin for this game. I also get annoyed with the people who scream fail team when anything bad happens (not that I’m accusing anyone here of that, as I’ve never seen anyone here do that in game). Like the other day, when this guy promptly dies and spends the rest of the match yelling at the rest of us about how crappy we are. Um, we’re alive, you’re not? I checked his stats and he had all of like 1000 matches with a Tier V as his highest tank I think.

There are so many, many things that can go right or wrong in a match. I’ve had matches where everything, everything worked. And matches where nothing, nothing worked. In neither case did I assume it was all my skill or my ineptitude–or that of anyone else singularly–that was responsible. There may well be players so good they can single-handedly (treadedly?) win a match. There may well be players who are so bad their mere presence brings down everyone else. I’ve never seen the latter, and precious few of the former.

It’s funny they are adjusting the price of the Löwe because it makes more money than the KV-5. I was pretty sure it would work out that way, because damage done = money earned, and the Löwe is made for damage.

On the new snowy map, it seems like every game I start on the right, everyone rushes the path to the north, I go south to defend (by myself or with one or two others), and then I get overwhelmed by the other team’s rush while my team gets slaughtered horribly on their push. I hold them off for a while, but it never ends up mattering. Have I just been unlucky with that?

I still say there’s some sort of underlying ‘keep everyone near 50% win/loss ratio’ system going on. And dice rolling.

Dang it, this is why I can’t play cool games. :(

Internet Rage People suck.

It’s not that bad, really. In fact, the vast majority of games I play at least are pretty civil. Certainly there’s less douche-baggery per game than I experienced back in the old CS (pre-CS Source) or Quake II days.

It happened to me once last weekend, and was the ony time I remember getting absolutely rolled on that map. I wouldn’t be surprised if the “follow the horde” mentality is especially strong on a new map, meaning you’re likely to see some unusually poor play for a while as people (slowly) figure the maps out.

In general, the weekend promotion made me feel better about World of Tanks. I was able to get some playing in between barbecues and other stuff, and I did better (or was luckier) than usual, meaning that it wasn’t too hard to score a win on each of the tanks in my garage. I felt my weekend record was far better than 50%, possibly due to more casual players filling the games, which gives me more room to shine. (Even if it does also increase the odds of being placed on a terribly inexperienced team.)

I find that to be an interesting tradeoff: The best way to make a major contribution in a public match is to be better (or luckier) than the other players. This can come from being really good, but can also come from the rest of your team being really bad…

I had a terrible weekend in terms of winning percent. I think I was mostly unlucky since I didn’t think I played that poorly. Sunday was epically bad, but Monday also took a while to get my wins. The 5x multiplier makes it really frustrating when you have a good game but don’t get the bonus. And then of course when you get two-shot in the first minute without accomplishing anything, your team wins without you. It was nice to max out a PzII in two games, though.

You’re the name caller, not me.

The anger I have is at the developers, for taking what could be such a great game and really not addressing the core issues that from what I can tell have been there since beta, and they aren’t doing anything to address them. My #1 complaint is that I’m colorblind and the developers aren’t doing anything about it (thank god for the colorblind mod, but it doesn’t address everything - making it a challenge more so than others).

A lot of people have done diatribes better than I could. This post sums it up quite nicely:
