lag, packet loss, server hickups. can be so many things.

Finally got the IS-4 (and ShivaX got his T-54 almost exactly at the same time).

Totally weirded out by all the shells that ping off of me now. It’s odd and unusual for me. I just need to remember to not go all heavy-nuts and drive around without a care…keep playing like I have an IS-3 still.

It is really nice to actually have a bit of armor though…haven’t felt tough at all in the Russian heavies since the KV-3.

IS-4 is nice, but I didn’t feel like I could hold my own against the other tier 9s until I got the top gun. Once you get that you are set, it does a ton of damage, up to 1/3 of the HP on a tier 8 heavy. And the good turret makes you that much tougher.

That’s how all the tier 9’s play. The Vk4502 feels just as useless against t9+ until you get the top gun.

Haha, just got 8 kills in a T82. Twas a low tier battle, I think the scariest thing there was a Lee, which actually took two shots.

I actually disagree on this, there are several defensive points on the maps that can be held versus larger number of attackers, and thats usually where I see charges/rushes/whatever fail.

Wish I could say that about the T-54. Picked one up earlier today. Tanks always look tougher when you’re fighting against them then when you’re driving them, and that’s definitely the case here. It doesn’t seem to bounce much at all, and I’ve had a variety of tanks take me down about 80% in one shot! Maybe it’s because I’m up an extra tier and am facing a bit tougher opponents, but it doesn’t really feel any tougher than the T-44.

Right now it feels like a sluggish T-44. I’m hopeful that will all be corrected once I upgrade the engine and tracks.

I remember someone complained about the fact that the T-43 gun was exactly the same as the best T-34-85 gun. Well the bad news is that’s the same as the best T-44 gun and the standard T-54 gun. There’s a slightly better gun that I can get soon. The top gun in the tree looks great – another 45mm of penetration, 50% more damage, and almost the same rate of fire as my current gun!

I’m hopeful when fully upgraded it will be a great tank.

Only another 100k credits before I can buy my M7! Looking forward to it. The Ram is a tough tank, but from Beta I enjoyed the extra speed of an upgraded M7 over the toughness of Ram

T46 still favourite, though the T82 continues to be fun.

I’m slowly grinding up through Tier 6-7. My T-34-85 is half way or more to the T-43, or somewhat less to the KV-13. I haven’t decided which path to go through first. Probably the KV-13, as I also have a DB that is about half way to a Panther. But eventually I’ll try for both I guess. Luckily I like playing the T-34-85.

My VK3601H is slowly meandering towards Tiger land. Yeah, the Tiger isn’t the greatest tank in the world but I love its look and the look of the Tiger II. Sadly, even fully upgraded the VK3601H isn’t that hot. Serviceable, but kind of meh. The Easy 8, on the other hand, where I’m inching towards the T20, is a very fun tank.

My SU-152 is more than half way to ISU land, and with the top gun for its loadout it’s a good TD and fun to play. Slow, though, and not that tough. Good ROF and penetration on the long 122 makes it nice. My T29 is about half way to the next US heavy. It’s really slow, but the 105 is nice and I frequently do quite well with this tank, so I’m happy.

I have a Slugger, but sadly only with the 76. I am half way to the 90, after which point I guess the beast will be useful. I am wondering about the second turret though. It’s not necessary for the 90, it has identical stats according to what’s listed, so I’m guessing because it’s covered it provides (undocumented) protection against arty? Unlike the Wolverine, which when upgraded is pretty sweet, the Slugger is more of a sluggish fly swatter.

And then there’s my M41, half way to my M12. I like arty, and I want to see how far up the US tree I can go, but it’s slooooow going. Some maps are horrible for arty, and many times you’re at the mercy of your team mates, who often don’t protect you at all. Speaking of that, I was in my T-34-85 in a match yesterday (Komarin) and pretty low on the ladder. I stayed back, out on the right flank to protect our two Hummels from an early rush, and then to do some sniping at tanks in the middle with the D10. As everyone else was either sitting still covering our base or running out and dying to the enemy covering their base, it seemed a good plan. I got yelled at by one arty who bitched at me for camping as a medium. I just told him the next time I’d just shoot him myself and save the enemy scouts the trouble.

You don’t like the VK3601h?

I find it immensely capable against t6/t7, but starts to fade against t8.

Upgraded the T-54 engine and performance feels quite nice. It’s still marginally worse than T-44 (although I don’t have the track upgrade). It felt just a tad worse, and then I ran a game alongside a T-44, and he was definitely faster, kept on having to slow down because he wanted me in front and he kept getting to close to my tail.

Match times have gone way up, since I hit tier IX. One round it took 2:30 minutes to get into a match.

Another match took about 15 seconds and I ended up in a truly bizarre match consisting of 5 tanks one one side and 4 on the other.

My team had two IS-4s, a Panther II, me in my T-54, and a GW Type E artillery. The other team had two IS-4s, a GW Type E artillery, and an Object 261 artillery. One of the opposing players told me he ends up in these type of matches all the time. Ugh, just ugh.

Agree. I love the iconic look of the Tigers. Playing such a historically famous tank definitely increases my enjoyment of the game.

Thanks, that is good advice. I do enjoy the Leopard style of play - fast, but not zooming out to just get shot. More like hang back behind the leading edge, then peel off as opportunities present to get a flanking shot. The gun on the Leopard is accurate too, I do enjoy the long range snipe.

TD’s are fun, but the mobility in the lower tiers is abysmal. I suspect the US TD’s will be fine, if slightly glass cannon like.

I think I need to actually play a heavy tank as well and see what that is like, US T1 or KV are the closest to unlock. I gather the German HEavies are the most amenable to long range sniping though.

Upgraded KV is one of the funnest heavy experiences around; go for that

Does spotting change from T7 on? I find it impossible to stay undetected, no matter how much cover, how far from the enemies, how long I’ve been still etc :/

Not counting for lag, I reckon it probably has to do with an increase in view ranges, either through better tanks, higher skills (both player and crew), or heavier module usage. (Coated optics, binocs, etc)

Guess so! Even behind cover(stones/houses), I can’t seem to lose being spotted.

In other events: Laffo!

The 88 doesn’t have enough penetration to duke it out with the T8s, as you observe, and that’s about all I ever see in mine. The 850 health is so so, and the armor seems less able to bounce things than I’d like. It’s by no means a bad tank when upgraded, but in duels with say an Easy 8 it succumbs to the viciously high rate of fire of the Sherman. Does better against the T-34-85s though.

That, a higher rate of fire for your cannon and a smidge of health. Just like the Wolverine.

Ah, cool. Got the 90, so I guess I’ll pick up the turret too.
