You might want to commit to one of these vehicles tomorrow for the double-credits day. Or grind out the KV in one day. :)

They all allso will be 50% off the price tomorrow for one day.

What I especially like about tomorrow is the fact that the Ferdinand is my best credit farming machine and it qualifies for double credits tomorrow! I am sure glad the Germans managed to deploy it in Prokhorovka in 1943! :) Too bad they used it so poorly. Wait a second, actually it’s a good thing.

I wonder if anyone is going to play any tank that is not on the qualifying list tomorrow. Oh and IIRC none of the arty is on the list. We will see a lot of Ferdinands :)

OTOH, balance-wise, I wish they didn’t include the Ferdi - all other qualifying vehicles are tier 5-6, it would have been fun. But then again, I don’t have any of the other vehicles - just sold my Stug and KV-1S to buy the T-44 the other day.

I’m definitely planning on credit farming with my KV and KV-1S tomorrow. Today I’m hoping to grind up on my SU-100 so I can buy an SU-152 at half price tomorrow. I also have a PZ3A and may take that up to PZ3-PZ4 while they are half price too.

I’m pretty sure the Panther and Tiger should qualify also. I stupidly got rid of my elited Tiger a few weeks ago (accidentally deleting the 100% crew also, doh!), but my Panther is ready to roll, and perhaps I will buy a T34 and KV for the event also.

Random tank history question here: I know the derp gun KV-2 was a real tank/mobile assault gun but is the uber KV-2 with the long 107mm something that was actually fielded or an invention by the devs?

Invention

The ZiS-6 was actually developed for the KV-3 through KV-5, and 600 of the guns were finished. The tanks never materialized, though, so the guns were sent to the blast furnace.

Hehe, yep I plan on buying the StuG III straight away, it’s the most expensive of the Tier 5’s I have unlocked. If I get enough credits I’ll buy the T34 as well. Pretty unlikely I will have enough XP to unlock the KV, which is a shame.

Sadly, I don’t think I have any of the tanks on the list for double whatchamacalits.

KV-2, T-34 and Ferdinand will be rejoining my garage tomorrow. :)

T-34 and KV are dirt cheap even regularly – at half price they are a steal.

Well, I don’t have any free garage slots either…

I wonder if the compatible modules (guns, turrets, etc.) are going to be half price as well. Probably not.

BTW, it makes sense to buy the KV tomorrow and keep it until the devs split it into KV-1 and KV-2 tanks a couple of months from now. Those who have the KV in their garage will receive an extra tank (and an extra garage slot) for free. The same applies to KV-3 and IS-4, although unfortunately, they are not a part of this promotion.

You’d love the T82 then, its the same concept, but with a bigger gun and at Tier III.

I did like the T82, though I didn’t spend much time with it. It just flew through to the Slugger, where I’m tooling around now. Oddly, I didn’t go for the mini-derp there, though.

Bought the StuG III and just killed five tanks in one match, within the first 4 matches I played in it. AWESOME

Loving it already :-)

Just going to grind some cash out for T-34 as well. (and maybe Pz IV :-)

edit - So yep, now got the StuG III, T-34 and PzKpfw IV. All fun so far, but the StuG III is lethal - its a real mean little bastard and it can scoot around quick as well. The hezter was pretty tough but moved like a dairy float which really limited your tactical options.

It’s a good idea by the devs to run this little 24 hour discount / bonus credit thing on certain vehicle.

Shame I hadn’t unlocked KV though, would have liked that as well.

I think the secret here on not burning out is to have some “mature” tanks in the garage that are in the final loooong stretch to unlocking next tier after getting most of the upgrades and some that are new and still only have short stints to get all the goodies. I’m enjoying it a lot more now, switching between Stug III, T-34, PzKpfw IV and T-28 (with the occasionally Ram -II match)

Yes, Stug is awesome. I really really liked it but sold it a week ago due to some funds shortages (I wanted to buy some modules at half price and didn’t have the cash :)).

I like what they are doing with their 5x exp, half price and 2x credits days, I only wish they’d announce them much earlier, maybe even had some kind of an event schedule for the next month or so. I am a planning freak, I like to have a plan and to know what I am going to do and what I am going to grind for.

Had I known about this event earlier, I would have ground out the SU-152 and/or had some “free” (converted) exp available to unlock it and buy it. IMO it would help developers too by providing the players with incentive to accumulate and convert “free” exp or in other words spend more gold. :)

OTOH, maybe it would provide too much opportunities to game the system and kind of ride from one “sale” to another.

In any case, I love these events, they bring some much needed variety.

BTW, what do you guys think about the 122 mm gun on the T-44?

I bought it yesterday but I am not sure I like it. It definitely requires to adjust your tactcis - in addition to all the obvious stuff (reload, etc.), it’s quite heavy and slows down the tank a lot.

Most of my tanks right now are Tier VII going on VIII, with one VIII, one V arty, and a couple of VIs I think. I don’t keep any tanks around after I level out of them generally, as I always want to have something I’m working towards. If I ever max out all my tanks goodness knows what I’ll do then!

Of course, if I was efficient, I’d simply run one into the ground until it hit the top, then repeat with the next, but I’m too ADHD to do that.

I never unlocked the 122mm and went with the 100mm DT10. Looks like there’s a bit off a drop off in DPS when switching to the 122mm, so its benefits are probably somewhat situational. Also the 2.5 second aim time already feels pretty long to me, I’m not sure I would want to switch to 3.0 seconds – I’m used to the 2.0 seconds found on most of the German guns.

You don’t need to have it unlocked to buy it, do you?

I like events like these but I have trouble ignoring them. Last night I really wanted to play Guild Wars but I almost got sucked into World of Tanks to try to get enough for a T-34 today. But after a couple matches I realized if I was going to be having more fun with Guild Wars at that moment I should play that.

DPS itself is a situation dependent stat because “rounds per second” number is situational. If you are circling around a heavy tank or are engaged in an close combat fight with a medium, then yes, a pure DPS (damage*rps) is important.

But if you are engaged in a long range fight or use “hit and run” tactic or need to kill an arty asap, the less you are exposed to the enemy, the better. In this case, front loaded damage is more important and pure DPS number doesn’t matter (since your rps will depend on a situation or your desire and will have nothing to do with what the tank is capable of on paper).

Usually, I am supporting the “front loaded damage” side vs. the “pure DPS”. For example, in long 88 vs 105 argument. The long 88 will outdps the 105 in ideal conditions, when you sit in one spot and continuously shoot at people. However, in real life conditions, when you are spotted the moment you shoot, shooting once and changing positions will allow you to live longer and thus do more damage in the long term. Plus the situations, when an enemy could have been killed with one shot by the 105.

In this case (the 122 mm gun on the T-44), however, there are additional factors. As I mentioned, the tank becomes a lot heavier, which hurts its speed and maneurability. Also 3.57 rps is VERY slow (depends on who you ask though, people who are used to the KV’s derp gun or the BL-10 gun on ISU-152 might feel it’s ok). These 2 factors affect the gameplay and the tactics you can use in such a way that the way you play your medium tank has to change completely. The tank essentially becomes a very fast TD with crappy armor and damage.

I am not sure I want to change it so drastically and wanted to hear what peolpe might think about it.

I think you do. Besides, in order to receive full benefit of the event, you want to buy the tank at half price and then fight in it to get double credits.
