The problem I have with the Slugger is the sluggish traverse speed, mostly. That, and you get tossed into tiers where the 90mm AT (a good gun) is pretty overmatched, and you don’t have the armor to really shrug off hits. So, you want to rely on having a turret, but it’s so sloooooooow that you end up being sort of a hybrid TD/tank thing. It’s a solid vehicle though, overall, just not as fun as a fully upgraded M10.

I enjoy the stock SU-152, but it’s such a different style of play compared to other soviet TD’s up to that point. I kinda hated it at first, but now I enjoy the zen approach of having a faster firing, more accurate derpgun than the KV-152.

I’m working my way through the Sherman E8. Anyone tried the T-20?

T-20 is sexy.

And I just scored a Wittman’s medal in a Tier6 match… with my Pz38 nA.

I really liked the T-20 too. Fast and maneuverable with a good gun. Decent but not spectacular ability to take hits for a medium tank.

T-20 is a fun tank, i drove one in beta. the gun is quite good, and american mediums get the stabilizer early.

The T20 is good once you unlock the treads, engine, turret, and 90mm gun. Stock, as usual, it isn’t so hot, but fully upgraded it’s very good. Even with the second 76mm gun it is ok.

As already mentioned, the stock T-20 is pretty painful, and it cannot be overemphasized that this tank in no way resembles the fully upgraded version.

Once fully upgraded, however, it’s one of the best moneymakers you can have. The game play is essentially the same as on your Sherman E8, primarily as a flanker. But you also gain the ability to peekaboo quite effectively (something the E8 isn’t well-suited for).

Bonus: it leads to the excellent Pershing and Patton.

Wow, I know most tanks are bad in their stock form, but I don’t know if any are as bad stock as the KV-13. Nothing like a tier 7 medium with worse guns than any tier 5, with a best bet of throwing tiny HE bombs to take 3% off other similar tier mediums per shot.

Unfortunately even the top KV-13 gun is not very good compared to other mediums on its tier. That’s the main weakness for that particular tank.

Yeah I just almost got beat by a PZ3/4. A hetzer had to save me. :( He did more in one shot than I did in six. Actually he did more in one shot than I did in six shots and two rams.

I’ll certainly take it over the stock VKp. At least the stock KV-13 is reasonably mobile and durable. The stock VKp is a big fragile slug on top of being undergunned, but even the VKp isn’t the worst stock tank I’ve tried. The stock Luchs as a tier 3 light literally accelerates like a KV while wielding an utterly useless tier 1 pew-pew gun. I was laughing out loud at how bad it was. At least it keeps the game from being swarmed with absurdly overpowered Leopards.

I’ve grown to like the KV-13, now that it’s fully upgraded with a good crew. I’m still grinding out the T-43 unlock, having unlocked the IS (but waiting for the credits still). I switch between the upgraded 85, which is a solid if unspectacular gun, and the 122 mini-derp, which is also a leftover from the T-34-85 tier. What saves the KV-13 is its good health, decent armor, and (once I actually, um, mounted the engine I had unlocked) decent speed and mobility. You can last long enough to really wreck a spearhead of the enemy, and sometimes you can even survive.

Hate to say it, but you won’t like the T-43 much. It’s sluggish and unmaneuverable (for a medium) even when upgraded. I can’t wait to ditch mine for the T-44.

Oh, I know. I had one in beta. I just want a T-54 eventually.

I found the T-43 to be solid. Nothing amazing, but a solid tank.
T-44 and T-54 are quite a bit better of course, but you also face tougher matches.

I thought the T-43 was pretty solid. Main problem with the T-43 and T-44 is a tendency to blow up when their ammo rack is hit. If you can afford it, Wet Ammo Rack accessory is highly recommended for both.

The T-44 is one of the few tanks that I thought worked rather well vanilla. (Although I suppose mine wasn’t strictly vanilla as I had unlocked a better gun on the T-43 that transferred to the T-44).

Is there any reason to keep the lower tier vehicles as you move up?

They’re a welcome change of pace after playing endless high tier battles. Besides, you’ll just tear through the newbies which is all sorts of fun.

At some point your highest tier tanks stop earning credits, or at least don’t earn credits as quickly. At that point, if you’ve sold off all your middle tier tanks, you’ll have trouble making credits.

I think the sweet spot on earning credits is somewhere between tier’s 5-7 depending on the individual vehicles.

For mediums my Tier IX T-54 still seems to earn credits, but nowhere near as many credits per match as my tier 5-7 vehicles. AIUI though a lot of the heavies actually lose money at tier IX. (Also I’m running premium, so it’s quite likely I’d be losing money on my T-54 running without premium.)
