I made pretty much the same comment a couple pages back with regards to my Object 212 (and before it, my S-51). Short of shelling out the bucks for a Lowe, mid to high tier arty is the game’s best and most consistent credit and experience earner.

I have been playing for a bit. Not that much I know. I have 901 games. I also understand that getting your w/l ratio up after a bunch of games gets harder the more games you play.
But playing only the PZ II has gotten me back up to 46% wins from 45. Not a big deal I guess, to anyone but me.

Arty players are gonna have one helluva rude awakening when patch 6.7 hits and people like me (agressive bastards with frustrations to work out) are going to be all up in their shit with the new light tanks.
Oh yes :D
I dearly hope you’re right. As everyone following this thread knows, I hate arty, but I play it because I love having gobs of credits to blow on whatever I want. The 7 arty per side battles really illustrate just how overpowered it is on anything but a city map. In the one I screenshotted, the enemy Maus died literally instants after being spotted, as did every other tank on the map. When the battle was over, the only tanks on either side with kills were the artillery pieces. The other vehicles served as free XP and credits for the arty (or as their very short lived spotters). The guns and armor of 16 tanks and TD’s were completely irrelevant to the outcome.

I was just reading on the WoT forum that there is a hack where you can see the entire map, or at least most of it. Supposedly it’s like arty view but wider. I consider this the same as the hitbox skins. A cheat. But up till now no comment from the devs.
People complain about 6-7 a side arty battles but they are unwilling or incapable of changing their tactics to take this into account. Games are full of seemingly endless numbers of impatient players that simple can not help themselves and drive out of perfectly good cover and become easy points for arty players.
I’ve played as a normal tank in an SPG heavy battle and it isn’t that hard to survive and succeed. How are these players going to cope in a Clan War battle when bring 5-6 T8 arty’s is the norm.
Maybe by not playing Clan Wars?
To be honest, I kind of even enjoy arty-heavy games. Same as no-arty games. It’s fun having to change your tactics and adjust. The good thing is that these two kinds of games don’t come up all that often - yesterday, in about 20 matches, I had zero 3+ arty games and 1 no-arty game.
It probably helps that after so many games I got kind of philosofical about winning/losing and dying/survivng when you can’t control it. Arty can miss me when I am stationary sniping in my Ferdi and they can kill me when I am driving full speed in my T-44. Similarly, my team can lose when our platoon kills 9 top list enemies or can win when the 3 of us just stand there covering some direction the enemy never attacked. (Both are true stories, happened yesterday).
Sometimes shit just happens, all you can do is just shift it one way or another a little bit.
Speaking of which, I remember reading some funny article on how to play a TD. It had the following advice: “Pick your position behind your team’s tanks and stay there! Be patient and don’t move - if your team is bad, they will die and the enemy will come to you. If your team is good they will win without you anyway.” :)
In a match yesterday on my ISU-152, El Halluf map or whatever that desert canyon one is. Ended up with Top Gun and seven kills, most of them admittedly one-shots of light/medium tanks with the BL10 but a few heavies that had been damage. My reward? Teammates yelling at me for kill stealing. Only three of us survived, and we won, and dead people are yelling at me? Sheesh.
Totally standard for this game, I’m sorry to say. WoT has a pretty high percentage of immature players who 1) have no play mode except full speed charge and 2) have no understanding of how the XP and credits system works (they think the game is a kill-based FPS) and 3) don’t hesitate to yell at anyone who doesn’t fully subscribe to 1) and 2).
I got 9 kills on one map but no one yelled at me that I recall. They were probably just grateful I took out that Object 704 from behind. :D
My final kill on that map was an IS-3 or 4 that was in the town. I crashed through a building and rammed my BL10 in his side and pulled the trigger. Was fun.

you make me want to grind up my soviet TD line again. I’ve been letting it lie since grinding out the su152 and its guns. the other tier 7 TDs are just that much more fun.
Don’t stop at the SU-152–I didn’t enjoy it at all, but the ISU-152 and the Object 704 are both a blast.
The BL10 makes all the difference. It sucks when it misses or bounces, but it’s soooo satisfying and a threat to pretty much everything. And it really is looooong, for folks with epeen issues.
Yeah, the BL-10 is a great gun, and it turns the ISU-152 into the proverbial glass cannon. The Object, which mounts the same deadly weapon, has much better armor and survivability (I’ve even gotten Steel Wall with it), so continuing the climb to Tier 9 is worthwhile despite the fact that your offense doesn’t increase.
I love the SU-152 but I prefer to play it with the stock gun. I plan on running the derp on the ISU-152 as well until I get the BL-10

Lol speaking of epeen issues, you guys think the loooooong 75 on the panthers look silly? To me it looks like it should bend if the tank bumps over a bump.
It really annoys me when people go on about Kill steals. A tank which is at 1% still does 100% damage(notwithstanding module Damage or Gunner killed), and can still cap at 100%. So if they are not quick enough then you are doing the team a favour by destroying an enemy before he can damage anyone else. And hey! you gotta earn your Kills mister! You snooze you lose! Which is why I also don’t like people pleading for people to leave opponents so they can get Top Gun.
Another pet peeve is people who instantly complained when they come in at the bottom of a battle and instantly rush to their deaths. They can do so much as spotters, and even if they hid in a bush the whole game they can cap as effectively as a Maus and get to the cap far quicker so could potentially win a number of close games.
So good for you Wombat :)
Good points. I’ve been killed by many a tank on its last dregs of health. I don’t like to take chances with them. And when I’m bottom of the barrel in a match, I go off and guard the arty, scout, hold in reserve to cap or counter-cap–there’s a lot I can do even if I can’t slug it out in the line of battle.
