Has there ever been a tank battle in North America, Japan, or Australia? I’m assuming South America had although I couldn’t name one.

Hypothetical tanks deserve hypothetical maps–having an E-100 battle an Object 704 in Washington DC makes as much sense as much of the rest of the game.

I used to be annoyed by how few historical tanks were in the game, but I have sort of awkwardly made my peace with it. And since each new patch tends to lower the ratio of historic tanks in any given game, it’s hard to complain about fantasy maps. I’d much rather battle through Manhattan or San Francisco* than take another damn trip to the Reichtag.

New modes of play sound great. I’m actually not excited for new tanks; I think the sheer number of tanks makes both balance and competent play difficult. But in general, this looks like movement in the right direction. And I understand the mentality that feels that “more tanks = more better.” If I was more of a tread-head, I might share it.

*: Actually, a SF-themed map would probably be a disaster, although it would be hilarious to watch heavies constantly ascending hills at 2 km / hr.

Thanks for the info–stuff to look forward to.

I put my M3 Lee crew into a RAM-II and vice versa and in both cases they show up as red. You think they still get experience despite this?

There used to be a bug where the crew would still be displayed in red even when there are no penalties, it was supposed to be fixed a couple of patches ago but who knows.

Just mouse over a crew member and see what the tooltip says about their skill rating. If it says something like “88% (80+8)”, everything should be fine but if it says something like “70% (80-10)” then something is wrong.

I don’t know, I see clan tags all the time and the Clan War seems to be as lively as ever. Some evenings too much so.

I see lots of tags, but not that many different clans. Then again, I don’t pay that much attention I guess, not having anything higher than a tier eight at this stage.

Yes, it was fixed. I wasn’t aware of it for a long time and just after I discovered the bug and was preparing to exploit it, it was no longer possible to gain crew experience without being trained for the vehicle the crew was currently in.

You should read previous posts. It is possible to train other tanks’ crews in (the same class) premium tanks.

The bug was that the UI displayed crew numbers in red even when they didn’t have any penalties.

Yep. The numbers appeared in red on my crews, too. But they still got experience until after the patch. (Edit: I am referring to non-Premium tanks.)

Oh, and I read and quoted from the posts.

Well, my M3 Lee crew doesn’t get a penalty in my Ram-II (although the reverse is not true). Probably won’t get around to testing if they get xp today, though.

Just got the 88 L100 on my E50. It looks downright obscene. Sadly it’s penetration is not spectacular. I probably should have just pushed on to get the 10.5.

Going to get a wet ammo rack on my T44 after. Panther II showed me the error of my was by one-shooting me from full health. I should have known was going to happen…

Yeah T-44 without a wet rack is just asking for it.

Yep, that’s how it’s supposed to work - regular tank’s crew can drive a premium tank of the same class with no penalty but not the other way around. If you don’t want to accumulate the “elite” exprience on your premium tank, select that “accelerate crew training” checkbox and watch your M3 Lee crew skills skyrocket.

I REALLY didn’t want to get a wet ammo rack on my T44 thinking that maybe getting one-shotted once in 8-10 fights is not that big of a deal. After the third or forth one, however, I got it and haven’t been one-shotted in the next 150 fights or so. Ever. The ammo rack got damaged a number of times but never blew up. I would never drive the T-44 without it now.

I don’t get why they nerf German TD’s. JgdPz IV is probably the worst TD in the game and it’s still got nerfed, if I read the patch numbers correctly.

And I hate the freaking 100 mm gun on Soviet mediums. T-34-85, T43, T44, T54 - they all have it and it’s the top gun on three of them, enough already, it’s not even funny anymore. Fighting E-50’s in my T-54 with this stupid gun is not fun. Another interesting thing is that Patton can get their top gun for about 46K exp, while T-54 has to grind out ~125K IIRC.

How come whenever I grind out a top tier tank, it turns out to be the worst in its class? :) Jagdtiger and T-54 so far. In regards to T-54, there was a dev’s post some days ago stating that they are aware that T-54 is underperforming compared to the new mediums and they are going to watch it to see if it requires buffs. It’s still the most popular medium and the best scout for Clan Wars, I don’t think they are going to buff it any time soon.

In other news, VK3601 is so awesome. :)

I just can’t believe how incredible a PzII, maxed out, rocks. I will pass up tanks that need their daily double to play the PzII over and over again. Sure it’s not accurate with the autocannon, nor is it well armored. But the MM puts it where it belongs and if you play it right it kicks ass.

I just got a T82 and it must be the most fun tank I’ve had this far. Fast-moving, fast-aiming and packs a good punch for its tier. And it’s not even upgraded yet! Right now I’m playing with it more than my Sherman.

Jeansberg. Put the 6pdr on it (the 57mm quick firing gun) I’ve kept my T82, even after unlocking M10, because, yes, is fun

I will get to work on that as soon as the EU servers are back up. :)

US servers down in Australian prime time! Understandable but frustrating due to really hanging out for a good WOT session with most of my Tanks on double XP.

Ah well I will give the new Minecraft patch a go.

Oh and really dreading the incoming Tier 5 light tanks on my Arty. I don’t think there will be so many tears about arty from the people who can’t take cover or move in random directions crowd * :)

*also known as the “learn to play” crowd.
