Yeah I ended up buying an M6 (replacing T1 HT) and put a KV-1S in an empty garage slot, taking advantage of half price crew for both after credits from weekend.
The M6 is OK, just more of the T1 HT. Might get good with 90mm, I’m really just on a journey to the T29 where I will probably stop that line.
The Kv-1S had just about everything unlocked (thanks to KV-3) and getting tracks / turret was really quick with one 5x win plus a smidge of free xp.
KV-1S is really fun to play, feels like you are cruising in an absolutely bitching muscle car and looking for trouble :-) Its got decent speed (as fast as a Pz Iv / or VK2601 or even getting near T-34-85) nice armour and a big hit with the 122mm gun. I like it more than the barely mobile pillbox that is the KV-3.
And I think I will definitely go to VK3002DB, Tiger I is not getting very much love.
M6 can really pack a punch with the top gun (never played it, but have been on the receiving end)
Ditched my Tiger for the Tiger II, and it’s MUCH better. All around a far superior tank, at least with the H turret. Bit of a grind left for the long 10.5cm though.
In the American line, I’m closing in on the T-34, but I won’t buy it after I unlock it. The T-32 is very good, but the T-34 seems…not so much. And I think they’re redoing the US line anyhow, so I’ll just sit on it there for a bit.

King Tiger is one helluva tank. Its where the german line finally comes into its own. Hard nosed and with the best gun of its tier. I had one in beta and am really looking forward to it.
I just made my first ride in the Chaffee (m24). It looks very cool, like a mean little toy. Despite me having about half the mods unlocked, and buying tracks with free XP, it was a rather underwhelming experience. Nowhere near as zippy as the T-50 or even the Leo. Not bouncy at all either. Perhaps the final engine upgrade, from 380 to a whopping 500 horses, will make it shine.

Matchmaking improvements coming next server restart:
http://worldoftanks.com/news/793-matchmaking-improvements/
“address comfort levels players have with their tanks while they are still learning them” - sounds like taking your level of unlocked modules in your current tank into account.
“allow matchmaking to make tier range within a match much tighter than previously in many cases” - this sounds promising.

The Chaffee’s beauty lies in it’s overall maneuverability and that wonderful gun. It’s fast, accurate and can penetrate most things, particularly if you can maneuver to their sides/back. The upgrade just makes it that much better.
The downside to the Chaffee, for me, is two-fold. One, I play it too aggressively and die a lot, which hurts because you can easily lose money on it if you die without doing a moderate amount of damage. Two, people seem to go crazy trying to kill you even if you’re not trying to break past enemy lines.

I dont mind dyin at all. What i do mind is dying in vain. Luckily, in a top tier light, one rarely dies in vain. The chaos and confusion these little bastards can spread are hilarious, and often game winning.
Sometimes before i make my own run towards the enemies rear area, i go counterscout. Chase the enemy lights around a little and hopefully track or even destroy them before they can do real damage. I reckon my chaffee will rock pretty frakking hard at that once i get it all pimped out.
I <3 tier 8 tanks. You often get to make a real tangible difference driving those. IS-3, King tiger, the big tank destroyers and even the medium tanks such as the T-44 can really make a difference even when they are overshadowed by bigger tanks.
My IS-3 takes long enough to die in most situations for help to arrive (either in the form of friendly tanks or incoming arty grenades) It can also really dish it out, even against the big frakkers. Smaller things die quick painless deaths when given the 122mikemikes of soviet love. Now i know why I had such a horrible time in the JagdPanzer IV. It meets the IS-3 a lot and really cant do much beyond a 10% dent before succumbing to it.
My T-44 is stock. This is agony. I have the shittiest gun on the field, even the light tanks are better armed than i am. At least that big chunk of steel in the front makes me useful as a bullet sponge for a bit. Also, upgraded T-44s are horribly terribly dangerous to most things and people rarely notice I am not. This makes me a useful distraction, or so I delude myself into accepting being such a pitiful waste of a slot in each matchup.
Game still is fun for me, and fresh. Something few other games have done in my long history of being a gamer. It has the right stuff i guess. Hows that for you guys?

Agreed. Just got my KT so I’m loving that. And I still love my PzII and Marder. I don’t play every day, but when I do, I’m at it for a while. Always fun.
Are you expected to have points in repair by Tier 6? If I get out out of position in my KV-3 and get tracked (which happens all the damn time), I’m pretty much never getting those tracks repaired no matter how long it actually takes to die. That’s the worst feeling in this game, just sitting there helpless watching your life slowly tick down.
Is there a mod that helps you keep from getting tracked?

Carry a set of consumables (small first aid kit, small repair kit, fire extinguisher). The first time you get tracked, you can fix up as fast as you can hit 5, 5. After that, you’re effed. They do cost 3000 credits so it is a good idea to carefully consider whether you’re dead meat anyway and save the money if so. The only other modules I repair are the gun and turret ring. Similarly, I save the first aid kit for the gunner or loader. Radioman goes down, or the commander, tough shit. As long as I can shoot accurately and quickly, I’m good.

Do try to bring your crew along with you as you level up, if you can, and for the Heavy line, Repair is definitely the best skill to take first. Other than that, it’s like the post above, the consumables is the way to go.
I never even thought of using consumables, thanks. Also my KV-3 crew was new since my KV crew still lives in that tank, trying to grind up for the artillery.

Oh my god, the smell! They need to get themselves a woman up in there!
Just a heads-up. The El Alamein Special is scheduled for this weekend, October 21 – 23. No details are available yet, but the vehicles featured will be:
USA:
[ul]
[li]T25 - AT[/li][li]M36 Slugger[/li][li]M3 Lee[/li][li]M7 Priest[/li][/ul]
German:
[ul]
[li]Hetzer[/li][li]PzKpfw III[/li][li]VK 3002 (DB)[/li][li]Grille[/li][/ul]
Nothing I play in that list!
I have half of them in my garage, but the only one that isn’t elite is my Slugger. It should be elite by the end of this weekend, I’d guess.

[/li]I know the ship set sail long ago, but it’s a little sad to see fictional tanks now being featured in the historic battle weekends.
That said, I do like how the promotion weekends have been making it so easy to grind up secondary trees. I started down US TDs on a whim during a 5x win multiplier weekend, and picked up a half-priced Wolverine and later a half-priced Slugger in subsequent promotions. Assuming they still offer half-priced tanks, I’ll be able to pick up the T25 this weekend.

The only one I have right now is the Pz3. Hardly worth bringing it out, to me.

I don’t have any in the garage either, but I have unlocked an M36 Slugger and the Grille, plus I am about 6k xp away from unlocking the VK 3002 (DB).
So if it follows past practice, hopefully I can pick up an M36 Slugger (replacing Wolverine) and a VK 3002 (DB) both for half price. Probably keep the VK 3601 (H) though, as it is my favourite and most successful Tier 6 tank so far.
I’ve kept the Pz IV and KV in Tier 5, for credit earning purposes. maybe should have kept the StuG III as well, gun on the JagdPz IV is super accurate but not very damaging.
I only have 500k credits though, so might only end up affording one.
You’re lucky to be able to get three vehicles during this special as they ought to be available for half price. But be sure not to get rid of your KV until after the new USSR tank tree goes into effect:
3. USSR Tech Tree
• KV will be separated into KV-1 and KV-2.
Players who have a KV in their garage at the time of the revision will have it replaced with a KV-1. The KV’s crew will be trained for the KV-1.
Additionally players who have researched KV-2’s turret for KV will get a KV-2 with an extra garage slot and the KV-2 will be assigned a 100% crew.
Undistributed experience from KV can be transferred to either KV-2 or to KV-1 on demand.
