But but but its like thirty bucks! I’m not shure i can afford that kinde dough on a virtual tank. Perhaps after holiday season :/ hmmm… i could of course…

It’s just you. The IS-4 has a better profile, side/rear armor, turret armor, and penetration on its gun. Its frontal armor is also better due to the fact its weak spot is so tiny in comparison to the lower glacis on the E75.

Now the T34 on the other hand is downright terrible (being fixed with the introduction of the M103 though).

IMO the only T9 that can stand up to E75 now is the fully upgraded IS-4 and even then E-75 has a bit of an upper hand.

Bad news is that IS-7 nowadays is the worst T10, at least until they re-work it (supposedly in the next patch - 7.0).

With your IS-4, always wiggle your hull left and right - everybody will try and hit the driver and wiggling will make some of them miss. Also when in a diamond position (and you should ALWAYS be in a diamond position, even when driving a straight line, you should be zigzaging if there is a risk of enemy fire), don’t be afraid to expose your side a bit more than usual - IS-4 has incredibly tough sides, when it’s visible at about 45 degrees it will often lure the enemy to shoot at it and bounce.

Thanks for the tip. The IS-3’s weak side armor and V-slanted armor from the front of the tank got me accustomed to always pointing directly at enemies when I could. It’s nice to have a decent depression angle on the turret, though! That’s the IS-3’s worst feature.

I resisted as long as I could, though really I should have bought the Lowe when it was cheaper, because that thing positively prints credits. But the Type 59 is actually a fun medium to play, and that’s important when you’re using a tank to grind credits.

Yeah, Russian heavy line is a bit confusing in this sense - on IS-3 you point directly at enemies, on IS-4 you go diamond and on IS-7 you point directly again. Messes up with your head a bit.

About the Type. I would suggest getting Quality Oil consumable for it iinstead of the flame extinguisher. Fire is EXTREMELY rare and the Oil adds A LOT to maneurability. 3K for it every fight is no big deal on a farming premium tank. Oh and get wet ammo rack - similarily to T-44, the Type is prone to get one shotted. And when forced to fight close combat, if you can’t circle around the target, always go into clinch - Type’s turret is hard to penetrate, you will win most of clinches against most tanks. Only don’t just sit there next to the enemy - move a bit back and forth, turn your turret left and right, etc. because rare people who know their shit will try to penetrate you through the commander’s hatch. And don’t shoot their turret while there - move away, shoot the hull, move back in. And shoot in the sniping view, not from over the shoulder view.

In my experience on the type 59, I have only been ammo racked once in like 150 games. I use stabilizer, gun laying drive and rammer, and equip repair, med kit, and remove speed governors. My crew has 100% firefighting new so the occasional fire is out fast. The speed governor can be toggled so you use it when accelerating and then turn it off when you’re topped out or going down hill so you save engine wear.

It prints money and it’s fun to play.

Just getting back into this game - haven’t played since beta.

Been damn tempted by the 59, but man, $50nz, ow. Working up the US trees because I like being different. What to work on, what to avoid?

Enjoying the T28 (?) TD but I understand I should skip the T40 and go right to the M10?

Pity I always die in it. Got the derp gun 105mm, but if the target is moving I am pretty much toast. Considering changing to the 57mm.

Other than that - US lights and heavies? Any worth stopping for and which to skip?

Oh, TinyPirate in game.

I was never ammo racked in my Type 59 until a few days ago, when in the space of a dozen games maybe I was racked four or five times. I still haven’t sprung for a wet rack though.

The T29 is the best heavy in its tier, by far.

i like all american TD’s up to and including the tier 7 one. after that they become ginormous arty targets that move like shit on a cold day. i think the T40 (the american tier 4 TD) holds my record for most kills in a round. so no. dont go skippin that bro.

I wish I was capable with the T28 or whatever it is. Maybe the 57mm will be better for me, and cammo netting. I die so quick usually :/

Going from the T25 AT to the T28 is like going from a sports car to a dump truck. The only thing the T28 has going for it, at least until you unlock the 120, is it is hard to kill–it can take five tanks beating on it to bring it down, sort of a mini-T95. But it moves at like 8kph on level ground, turns like a tackling sled without the track upgrade at least, and until you grind that exp it has the same friggin’ gun you just spent an eternity using on the T25 AT.

I don’t see myself spending a lot of time working on this one, given I already have an Object 704 and am also working on the German TD line.

Sorry, replace what I said with T82.

Calistas, it may very well not be the tank but your tactics. in low tier TD’s (marder, t40, su76) you have no armor at all. you need to shoot distracted targets and gtfo after shooting once or twice.
dont be ahead of the pack. camp a bush a little bit behind someone else. preferably someone who seems to be more dangerous than you, say a KV. then when the kv is being fired upon, retaliate.

If you want to play a right honorable tank dont be drivin no TD. Get yourself a heavy. KV-3. T-29. now those are men’s tanks. or perhaps a medium if you are feeling brave. to do well in a T-34 or a T-20 takes guts and luck.

German tanks are for pussies. Its no great coincidence they are all named after kitties; tiger, panther, lion. with their bad armor and long guns they need to sit back and plink away from a distance mostly.

im not going into artilleries. to shoot all across the map dropping unseen fire from the sky is just beneath fucking contempt.

I switched to the 57mm and promptly got 5 kills and was still alive at the end of the game. Actually being able to hit targets turns out to be a real bonus - who woulda thunk it?

Developing my M3 with older crew and can’t decide if I should upgrade them al to 75% or ignore their red %s and just keep going on in to the M5 Stewart. What guidelines do folks have for crew management?

I like the M3 as for its band it is quite capable. I’m not quite sure which tank I should ‘sit’ on and which I should push through - I just know being bottom of the tier can be really stink. That’s the reason I’ve heard for skipping the T40 and heading to the M10 TD, but I’m not really sure…

Train em to 50% (its silly not to) and push to the M5 before worrying about any training.

And you can be bottom tier in anything other than a Tier10 so learn to accept that. If anything it makes you a better player to fight superior enemies.
Taking out an IS4 with a Chaffee or T20 is more fun than vaporizing a Leo with a Object 704.

Cool. So M5 is a good pause point? That’s cool.

Well… its not great since its a Tier4 light so it’ll end up in nearly every match that exists. If you want to really pause the best places are probably tier 5 or 6 since you’ll get a solid mix of matches.
