If you want american mediums/heavies, go from M3 lee to M4 sherman. This branches to all good tanks. really nice that.
Problem is I am nowhere on the medium tree except what I have worked up on the TD tree. I can go M7, Easy 8, and assorted heavies etc. Can’t go backwards as far as I can tell and the XP cost from the bottom might be annoying.

Got an M7, the 6lber, upgraded turret, engine and tracks and this thing is quite fun! Packs a reasonable punch, can get in and scrap, and get out again. Nice!

I actually preferred the top 75mm gun. But 6pdr shoots fast and has high penetration.
Does it result in a different style of play? With the 6lb’er I figure you are meant to be firing on the move, flanking and bum-rushing. The 75 is more of a sniper weapon, right?

at tier 5, the 6 pounder is not a reasonable punch. its weaksauce. a reasonable punch at tier 5 is the t-34’s 57mm zis4. or the sherman’s 105 HE chucker.
It packs enough to hurt from the side or rear, it seems, which the M7 does a great job of finding. Unless it is better to sit back a bit with the M7 and snipe? I don’t know.

The 6pdr is pretty much the same gun as on the Ram if I remember.
I found it is VERY fast, accurate, good penetration but does hardly any damage. Especially from the front.
The top 75mm is not that much different accuracy wise (if I remember correctly), slightly slower loading, but packs far more punch - and can load HE.
Regardless, I found the M7 should always be flanking and shooting things in the side / rear whichever gun you have. I dont recall ever having much luck playing it Pz IV style and hanging back to snipe (and probably never really tried that style - so maybe it could work. You could shove a damn lot of 6pdr shells in someone pretty fast.)
At tier 5, a reasonable punch is the 107mm ZiS-6. Anything that can’t one-shot a light tank is insufficient kaboom.

naw, the 107, the long german 75 and the 152mm derp are beyond reasonable, they are wtfpwnaliciously awesome!
such are the guns any warm blooded kiwi boy should be striving for.
I am playing the US lines!
Before I outlay for the higher end M7 gun, does it really make such a nice difference? I am reluctant to kill my top speed or my ability to shoot on the move.

If you are enjoying 6pdr and not finding it frustrating, just stick with it.
Mounting the top 75mm was more like “ehh, I suppose its a bit better, i’ll stick with it (Maybe I’ll just try the 6pdr again to make sure)” than"OMFG DELICIOUS BBQ" like when you get the top KV gun.

For some reason, just as i’m about to graduate to the pershing i’m really finding my groove with the T20 (tier 7 amuhricun medium). The gun depression is a sweet thing, as is being light on your feet and having a good punch. Oh and hitting shit while zipping around with your hair on fire is the cherry on top.
From tier 6 on up the american medium line gets to mount a vertical stabilizer. this expensive bit of kit lowers the amount of dispersion gained by movement (of tank or turret) by 20%. The effect of this is that you get a better chance to hit crap while moving, or if you do stop for shooting you have to wait 20% less.
I still need about a million credits to actually buy the pershing though. Looking forward to it. They have been kicking my arse, so i bet that i can do same to others with it.
M4 with 105mm’s of derp is super, super fun!
The Pershing is a good tank. Like all T8 mediums, it’s hard to use effectively because you’re always going up against T8-10 heavies, though.

I’m loving it! For once it wasnt terribad out of the box, on account of having a good selection of stuff carrying over from the T20 and T25AT. Its quick, has a reasonable bit of armor on the front end, spots well and depresses well (but not as good as the T20).
Looking forward to pimping it out completely. I also made T-44 the other day and that was fucking excruciating until i ground out the tracks and turret. With those things its coming quite into its own. I cant wait until patch 7.0 hits, giving it the LB-1 gun from the T-54. Gonna kick some T-59 ass then!

Well, tier 7 & 8 arty really shouldn’t be in the game. maybe tier 6 either. They’re way too over the top.

one or two of them are ok. they are too inaccurate and fire too infrequently to kill a game dead on their own. when there are 5 of them, shit is getting bugfuck annoying though.
