I aint gunning for IS-7, the -4 is plenty for me. But im having a hard time getting there. There’s a whole lot of trees im also climbing all clamoring for time and more importantly cash. There’s both the pershing and T-44 that someday need to grow into a patton and T-54 respectively. There’s the T-29 that needs some pimping out as well as the big gun in time. The VK-DB isnt pimped out yet, and the french trees are proving hella fun, especially the light one. I bet by the time i’ve built a fair reserve of cash and free xp, the brit tree gets released lol.

this fuckin game lol. I have a TON of great games that need playing. but no, just another round of tanks. and another.

What do people reckon about the second special skill for the crew on a Tiger?

Some of them have just maxed out 100% repair. I am very tempted to make the next special skill camouflage over firefighting. Any time I catch on fire, I just use a fire extinguisher, or I am so stuffed anyway I am going to die in the 20 seconds.

But I’ve run across a few high tier heavies that seem to have better than usual camo values.

While a lot of people have talked about Tigers lighting on fire, I’ve never found it to be a problem. I’ve got 99 matches on the Tiger plus quite a few matches with it during Beta and I’m very doubtful it’s caught on fire more than 3-4 times. It could partly be playstyle, but I just haven’t found it to be an issue at all.

Light/Med French get autoloaders at tier 5, Heavies - at tier 8. They are all very dangerous, you will be sorry if you ignore a tiny French light even if you are in a tier 10 tank.

In order to fight them successfuly, you need to deny them their main advantage - shooting speed. Get out, shoot, hide back. Any French tank, except tier 10 heavy, can potentially kill its same tier opponent with one cartridge, don’t ever get caught in the open by them. If you have teammates also shootnig at him, always try to get their tracks. Generally aim at their turret - their ammo, radioman and commander get killed very easily (and killing either means longer reload for the autoloader, the long one, not the one between the shots) and the turret is much easier to penetrate on AMX120 and AMX50b (other French tanks are easily penetrated anywhere).

Counting their shots and watching their behaviour also helps - the long reload is quite significant but only on high tier tanks. On AMX12t and AMX13-75 it’s only about 12-15 seconds, you can’t do much while it reloads. Top gun on AMX13-90 takes about 35 seconds, Lorraine - 50 sec, BatChat - 30 sec, AMX50-100 - 45 sec, AMX50-120 - 35 sec, AMX50b - 25 sec. Careful with AMX13-90, while its top gun has a long 35 seconds reload, the stock one takes only 12 seconds. All French tanks have 6 shots in a cartridge, except for the top gun on AMX50-120 and, of course, AMX50b.

T29’s ears have been fixed, penetrating them does not deal any damage now. R2D2 on KV-5 though is still a weak spot.

As for the skill, I always recommend getting stealth, it always helps to be a bit less visible and potentially get a first shot at an enemy. Also think ahead, while Tiger may catch on fire a little bit too often (not THAT bad though and nothing a fire extinguisher can’t help with), none of the higher tanks in that tree have this issue (well, except for E-100 but it’s a different story and one needs to know where to shoot).

On the other hand though, supposedly, next patch will bring new crew skills and skill respec, so it doesn’t matter much what you get now.

Also, don’t get new crew skills when you are almost done with the tank. Drive a little with the pluses, the crew will still accumulate the exp and will use it automatically when you train them for a new tank. I switched from AMX50-100 to AMX50-120, paid silver for training to get 90% but all that accumulated exp resulted in them becoming 100% right from the start. Sweet.

good thing to know about them pluses. will keep it in mind :D

Anecdotal only, but I find that the Tiger and Tiger II tend to burn more often than most when I shoot them, though in them I agree I haven’t had a huge issue with fire. The Type 59 has been catching on fire more lately though, again, subjectively. But everyone should have a med kit, a repair kit, and a fire extinguisher anyhow.

Yeah, I chuck all three on, except for some of the russian heavies where I put the good fuel in for an engine boost (KV-1s and IS). fire is a non issue - comes up way less randomly than say getting one shotted by a derp gun or blasted to bits by arty because you forgot to move after being spotted.

So my dudes got Camo :-) Good trick on the plusses, but my dudes are ages away from the Tiger II

I’m tempted to make a push for the M10 or possibly even the M36 – I think I’ve got the T40, but don’t have much experience on it.

oh man, t40 is such a fun tank. pimp it out and pwn. its like the americans saw the marder2 and thought “heck we can do that, we can do that even better!”

wolverine is fun as well, like a machine gun on wheels (it gets the easy eights’ gun at tier 5) and then on the M36 you get the mighty 90mm. that gun is long and pierces something fierce.

all of these TD’s are squishy as heck though. They might be turreted, but those turrets are slow and soft. do not count on them like you would in a brawler tank, which these are not.

Sounds great schurem! I love the Marder, so good chance I’ll enjoy these too.

Well, I’ll be getting a Slugger finally then! Already unlocked, so all good.

i was saving for a su-100 but that can wait.

Pissed me off that I didn’t read the web site before buying my ARL yesterday…300k wasted. Oh well. Still had enough to get my IS-7 at least. Now back to grinding credits for my E-75 and Ferdi, which have been unlocked but which I haven’t been able to afford, either.

Just a note on the ferdi, it really sucks until you get the upgraded gun on it. You will be very frustrated with how little damage you deal out to T7 & T8 with it (not to mention scratching T9).

And the sticker price for that gun is a whopping 63K more XP. I finally broke down and spent $10 real money converting XP so I could enjoy it - and never looked back.

Possibly so, though in the Jagdpanther with the 105, I routinely do well against T7-9, and that’s the gun I’d be starting with (I guess as soon as the tracks get put on at least). The 128 is naturally the goal, but given that the Jagdpanther gets lumped into high tier matches all the time anyhow, I’m thinking a more durable but slower version shouldn’t be terrible.

I also have an Object 704, which I rarely play outside of CW, and a T28, which I play when I need a Tier VIII for a platoon. I like TDs in general.

Finally unlocked the top gun on the T-54. It’s nice to finally be able to damage Lowe’s reliably. It’s a bit less accurate than the previous gun, which is bad for me, since I really like to snipe, but the penetration is so much better, there’s just no going back – an extra 44mm of penetration and an extra 50% damage at almost the same rate-of-fire. The other big downside is the shells are very expensive at over 1,200 credits each IIRC, and my T-54 is no longer making money on Premium.

It was interesting to take my T29 for a spin and discover that its gun has almost exactly the same penetration and damage as my top T-54 gun (slightly less accurate though IIRC).

Huh, I have an SU-8 unlocked but never bought one. I wonder if I should get one just because it’s on sale. Was planning to continue the arty line off of whatever comes after the KV.

The SU-8 took me some getting used to; it’s an improvement over the SU-5 but it doesn’t really do as much damage as I’d like. It zooms and reloads pretty fast, though, and is reasonably accurate. Slow as a dog, however.

Oh, actually, I meant the SU-5. I did German Arties up to the Grille in the beta, but didn’t make it very far in the full release. The SU-26 is fun, but the pathetic income it generates now is depressing.

Ah, the SU-5. Once you get the top gun it’s…interesting. You have to use it for what it’s good at, which is lobbing shells at high trajectories. It’s actually a big ass mortar, and if you think that way you can do well with it. But it’s short ranged and doesn’t hit that hard.

Got my Wolverine tonight. The thing that surprised me about it is how fricken slow the thing is. I thought one of the consequences of getting rid of all that armor would have been to make the thing fast. I thought that was supposed to be one of the design considerations, although maybe that’s just the Hellcat which apparently had a top speed of 60mph! I’ve got the first engine upgrade (must have unlocked it from another tank) and it is much, much slower than any of the Shermans. In fact I think it’s speed is down in the heavy tank category.
