These statistics are actually very addictive. I practically just play for my Wins / Battles value, which took a dire hit yesterday since I scratched the 53%. :(

This is happening the second time in a row now, I see 53% one day and the next, I get myself into teams where

  • at least one top tank is linkdead/off
  • the players PK each other
  • I get one shotted (in a T-44)
  • the whole team rushes to one side and ignores my warnings, then sits and does nothing
  • the opposite team has at least three more french rapid-fire tanks

I accumulated 10 losses in a row in my T-44, which had a 63 % win ratio before that. Looks very much like the 53% value is cursed for me. I can’t get across at all. <g>

w00t. finally got the Big Gun on my IS-4. proper pwnage. Punches holes in almost anything. fairly accurate as well, enough for the medium to low range brawling the IS-4 is best suited for. Finally made it to the top of the food chain :)

This is something I endured for the AMX38 and 40 to get to the AMX-13. ;-) This progression put a neat dent into my percentage, too.

The funny thing is, the statistics are objective, and if I look at the win/loss ration of the AMX40 now, the stats show that I was much better than I thought I was. The experience of going through these two was dreadful, though.

(Recently unlocked IS-7, Pershing and nearly a Jagdtiger in three day span…have 400,000 silver. IS-7 alone is 6.1 million with no equipment.)

I recently learned a that when the T30 becomes a Tank Destroyer, it will unlock the 105mm, 120mm and 150mm AT guns. This is huge for me, since I have only just started playing the T25, and had not yet earned the 40k(!) XP to unlock the 105mm AT gun.

This ended up being the “push” I needed to burn free XP unlocking the T30. I’m still not sure I will actually be able to participate in Clan Wars or anything, but it will be nice to have the option, and the unlocks will make my progression through US TDs much less painful.

Of course, now I’m in the same position as everyone else in this thread: Down below 100k silver, with a Pershing that I really want to buy.

In addition to the AMX38 and AMX40, I haven’t had much luck with the AMX12t either. It’s gun really isn’t that fast. As others have pointed out, it’s really not much faster than one of the Sherman 75 or 76mm and it doesn’t hit as hard, as accurately, and it doesn’t seem to settle as quickly, although that could be my crew rating.

I did have an AMX13-90 tear apart my poor Pershing in about 15 seconds though, and that was from the front too (close range though). I was rather surprised at how badly it mauled me.

I found the 12t to be a dog. The AMX 13 75 is better, but though the top gun is ok, the turret makes it somewhat hard to use effectively, and the tank, while speedy enough in a straight line, is not that maneuverable. It’s a flanker, supposedly, but you have to be pretty canny to use it effectively, and it dies really easily. I don’t have the 90 yet but people in my clan who used them on their way to Lorraine 40ts/Bat.Chats. find them to be solid offensively but very vulnerable–they can rip stuff up but they almost always die shortly thereafter.

All three of the french lights reward a special kind of play. You have to be super aware of surroundings, who’s where, where are they facing, and what’s around them. Played well you can ambush folks and hit them hard before they know what’s happened. Loved all 3 (just got the 90 recently) and have higher than my avg win rate with all 3

How do they differ from a PZII? One of my highest win rates, 63% or thereabouts, is in the PZ.

At tier 2, pretty much all the tanks are the same or very very similar. At tiers 5-7 you have a wide variety of different roles (proper heavies, massive arti, etc). That said I’m sure the skills to do well with an amx translate very well to low tier domination (where even less people will have a clue)

I have a prem hotchkiss which is fun for tier 2 nastiness, but I find it’s much more rewarding to do well with the amx lights, as you can dominate what should be much, much stronger tanks when you catch them out

Just had the strangest game. I was in my Lowe. And I was trying to tell a few guys to avoid bunching up on the tracks in a map, saying move up take ground.

Suddenly I have no reticule, nothing. I guess I hit V by accident. I know that now, but then I was totally confused.

So here I am in a tank and having to shoot things with the Mark One Eyeball. I killed 5 tanks and we won.

And I’ll never do that again. But it was interesting.

I had something similar happen a couple of weeks ago. And no, I definitely did not kill 5 tanks (very impressive Rich!), in fact, IIRC I died shortly after still disoriented.

Myself, I like the Dossier Tool. It’s got pretty much everything you’d ever need to find out how you’re doing in each tank.

For instance, sorting by avg XP earned my top three are the BDR G1B(!) with 1009, VK 3601 with 971 and the E-75 with 932. Or I could sort by Kill/Death ratio. Hmm… lots of low level arty at the top. Let me filter the Tier range to 6 and up and get rid of arty… ah! Jagdtiger, IS4, and Ferdi are all tied with 3.5.

Thanks for that link, lot’s of interesting stuff to see. My average time per match for most tanks is 3:40, proving that my aggression is not tempered by any common sense.

I can’t believe that it took me this long to figure out how to play my Lowe. But so far tonite, three wins. For me it’s:

  1. Wait to see what everyone else is doing.
  2. Get a sniper spot with serious view area.
  3. See what the idiots on your team are doing wrong and try to fix it.

Example: In my last game i thought it would be a good idea to follow a Ferdi and cover his ass. So he went up a hill slow as shit. Well, I had already committed. I forget the map, but anyway… The Ferdi decided to hide behind a rock. Then a guy was trying to flank us on the right. We’re close to the border on the right so I decide to flank that guy. It was an AMX something. I go up and shoot him in the ass and SURPRISE the Ferdi finishes him. At this point I figure “What the hell.” There are no reds on the map, I’ll go up the edge and see what I will see.

I end up going all East side on the map. I get hits on several tanks and (irony baby) kill a Lowe. Finally I end up lighting up like 8 guys near their base.

As well I also said, “The first time I ever scouted in a Lowe. A low point for me.”

I die, but we win.

I told the team before that, “If we win this, you all get kisses.” Once it was down to 1 T-20 I said, “Only on the lips, no tongue.”

We won.
