I realize all that about credits, but the fact remains I do have a Lowe, and I would like to purchase a GW Tiger, Jagdtiger and IS-7, oh and a Panther now, and nearly an Object 212.
I average about 45k credits after ammo and repairs per match, let’s see, to buy all the things I’ve unlocked and not counting the equipment (i.e. rammers, etc.) it will cost me:
16,700,000 credits. At 45k average with the Lowe, that’s only 372 more battles.
Not really much fun.

Is there something inherently not fun about playing the Lowe? I know I’m largely just playing my Pershing over and over again, because it’s my favorite tank (and I know from playing my T-54 that Tier VIII mediums are more fun than Tier IX mediums). So mostly I’m not playing for credits anymore I’m playing for fun. 717 matches in the Pershing so far.
I think you’re probably better off finding a tank you like and playing that because you like it, and earning credits as a side effect, instead of really focusing on it as a grind. Focusing on playing as a credit grinding exercise just seems like a fun-sapping way of viewing the whole game.

For a while I was playing my Lowe like “even if I die I make good credits”. That was doing a grave disservice to a fun tank. Thus my 40% wins in it. Lately I’m playing towards its strengths and enjoying it a hell of a lot more.
I apologize Mien Lion, you deserve better.

Another Mastery I in my Marder. Even after some schmuck kept parking behind me. I actually got fined for team damage when I backed into him after a kill. Dude, I’m a TD with no armor, give me backup room!

I’m rather surprised a Marder could back up into something fast enough to cause it damage and not have the Marder itself suffer catastrophic damage!

The guy was literally on my ass the whole game. I think he was using me to be hull down. :D
Edit: Every time I pulled back there was grinding. From my experience that means damage.

I think they made a change with regards to collision damage, perhaps recently. You have to be going over a certain speed to damage a teammate in a collision. They were trying to reduce the number of team fights at the start due to poor driving.
The Lowe is actually a very good tank under the right circumstances. It has a highly accurate sniper cannon and played as a range tank can really cause havoc against the opposing team.
What ydeljin said. Besides, the joy is not in buying and owning those tanks but in driving and mastering them and leveling them up to their top config. If you buy the Panther and/or Jagdtiger first, by the time you upgrade them, you will earn a fair chunk of money towards your other tanks without driving Lowe.
In other news, I was surprised how much skill you lose when you stop playing WoT regularly. My friends and I haven’t played WoT much in the last month and now that we are kind of back, we see each other make such dumb mistakes and miss all the time. That was the source for a lot of frustration and jokes yesterday. :)
So I spent 2.5M creds on equipment (at half price too), and now finally have all my favorite tanks tooled out to the max. \o/

What are people’s thoughts on the Churchill? I really like the QF 6 Pounder on the Ram II, and have a nominal “need” for a Premium Soviet Heavy to help with crew training…
Imagine coming back to the game after 8 months of not touching it, at all …
The Hellcat and French lights (didn’t get to the mediums yet) are damn fun, though.

I can’t speak about the Churchill specifically, but I recently bought a T-14 and both tanks had their MM adjusted in the 7.2 patch. So far the T-14 has mainly been in tier 5 battles which makes it fun to play, I would expect the same to be true for the Churchill. I would have bought (during the sale) a Churchill as well but I already have a KV-5 to train my Russian heavy crews.
Also I got the Ace Tanker award for my T-14 on my fourth match after I bought it last night; that’s got to be a record for me in any tank, and cleared 46K (premium account)…not bad.
How far did you get on the French lights? Through Tier 4 (3 maybe?) I thought they were awful, but supposedly eventually they get decent.

I agree with Hanacker, I find it pretty mind boggling that you like the French Lights unless you’ve at least gotten to the AMX 13 75. I found the lower tier French lights just awful.
I should have specified. I had 40k free XP saved up from before I took a break, so I skipped the lower tiers up to the AMX12t light (which was terrible, but doable) and the B1 Heavy (which was absolutely terrible).
Now I’m at the ARL44 (tier 6) in the heavy line and AMX13-90 in the light line, soon to be at Lorraine.
AMX13-75 already gets pretty fun and the AMX13-90 is a lot of fun. The French heavy line, through B1, BDR-whatever and ALR44 remains mostly a source of constant frustration (and I really hope the AMX50-100 and up are worth it).

I’d second that. I went up the French light line (WITHOUT FREE XP) and they are utter terribad until AMX12t which is merely “OK sometimes to bad” when all of a sudden the AMX13-75 comes along and things are actually decent. That is as far as I have got so far.
Good news, every tank from now until the Bat Chatillion is amazing! I just bought my Batchat last night, it’s a lot of fun.
Tell me, do the horrifically long aim-times (which make Russian aim times look decent!) ever improve on the Lorraine/Bat Chatillon compared with the AMX13-75/90? Either on the 90mm or 100mm gun.
Oh and if anyone has experience with both the French lights/mediums and heavies, do the heavies see any improvement in aim times?
I ask because, right now, a great deal of the power of these machines is negated by that insanely slow aim. It’s especially painful when one’s coming off the Patton, Hellcat or E-50 with their amazingly quick aim time.

Those little AMX’es really benefit from the Enhanced Gun Laying Drive. Its a lot of silver, but worth every penny because it lowers aimtime enough to be in line with reload time again. its day and night. one of the most dramatic improvements in any tank in the game.
