Not sure what was the original plan but it looks like the KV2 is going to be a tier 6 tank.

Hmm, I’ve heard that before, but they still haven’t done it yet. Makes me almost wonder if they do it just so that I’ll keep all these tanks in my garage. That’s not actually why I have them all, but if all those proposed changes went through, my garage size would almost double, since I have a KV, a KV3 and a Panther, and might even be able to get a PantherII before that patch comes out.

sorry to rain on your parade bro, but that ship has already sailed. The introduction of the E series tanks has happened like 4 months ago. Panther tanks aint gonna make little panther babies like kv’s are about to do :)

Hmm, I’ve had my Panther in my garage forever, has the E-50 made it to the american servers?

E-50s have been in the game a long time now.

The IS-8 is going to come before the IS-7 now? It was hard enough to remember tank names and their tier before; now they’re definitely fucking with me.

Am I correct in understanding that in order to get the free tank and garage slot I need to have the KV in my garage, not just researched?

I sure hope so, as I’ve been driving mine for a while now :).

KV + KV-2 turret in garage = get KV-1 and KV-2

KV-3 in the garage = get KV-3 and T-150

IS-4 in the garage = get IS-4 and IS-8

Thanks for advice above re: premium tanks. I didn’t mention i already have tanks more fun to play than Lowe (IS-3) and Type59 (T-54), ten months of a years premium and also a PZ V/VI for farming, which whilst doesn’t bring in silver like the Lowe and Type59, has a half decent income. I think my limited time played might work out a more important factor in the end. Might well buy one if they are ever on sale for long term silver income.

One of the huge benefits of a tank like a T34 is that even if you die in the first few seconds of a match, you probably will not lose money. Given how much you can lose on any top tier vehicle that isn’t a premium, the premium tank’s ability to both make money and not lose money is a powerful incentive. But as you note, if you don’t like playing them, it may not be worth your time.

Another benefit of premium tanks is that most of the time they get preferencial treatment from the matchmaker. While the devs recently expanded prem tanks’ “level brackets”, they are still much more likely to be at the top than regular tanks.

Hehe, playingwithknives, sorry for piling up all these benefits on you but the devs really did their homework to make prem tanks very attractive. :)

My friends and I finally all got our Lorraines and tried running with 3 of them in a platoon. Holy cow that was crazy, that’s A LOT of very mobile and concentrated firepower. The only match we lost was near the end of the evening when we got really cocky, were overpowered 2 to 1 by tier 9 and 8 meds and had no support from the rest of the team on our flank. Should have played that one differently but we were like “who cares, let’s just go and kill them all!”. Lol.

I’m still baffled by the French tanks, really. My AMX 50 100 takes 50+ seconds to reload after its six shot magazine is empty. A minute is a looooong time on the battlefield, so figuring out how to manage that interval is proving challenging. Still, it’s better than the tank that preceded it…

Well, it depends on what you are doing while reloading, really. Sometimes (either due to my mistake or the situation developed like that) I get cornered and can’t relocate while reloading and reloading seems to take forever in these situations. More often though, I use the reloading time to move to a more advantageous position and it actually takes a fair amount of time. I never thought it can take almost a minute to go around a bigger block in Ruinberg or from the bridge area to the enemy base in Mountain Pass (IIRC the map’s name) but I notice it now when I have a reference point (long reload time on French tanks).

In short, I think over time one develops a habit of using this long reloading time to his advantage and it doesn’t feel that long anymore. Even on Lorraine that has the longest reloading time with its 100 mm gun IIRC.

Sometimes I think it would be advantageous for a normal tank to recognise when it is time to back away and live to fight another day where you have better odds, instead of staring into the headlights of that oncoming heavy tank you have at best a 50/50 chance of maybe killing before he stomps the daylights out of you and BEST case scenario you end up limping around with 10% health left.

I am slowly feeling the more you can think you need to be ruthless and only engage in utterly one sided confrontations of 2 v 1 (or 3v1 or 4 v1) or flanking and rear shooting an already engaged opponent the better.

So an enforced 1 minute cool down to go and seek those ruthless odds seems OK.

Actually, those are good points–most of my deaths are because I don’t play for survival, and try to beat the RNG.

While this is true of many premium tanks, it’s probably worth noting that the two most expensive premiums (the Lowe and T34) apparently get normal placement for a Tier VIII heavy. Which is fair, because both tanks are great earners and (if played well) are competitive with “real” Tier VIII tanks.

However, your general point is spot on, as many premium tanks have ridiculously favorable matchmaker placements. I picked up a Churchill in the recent sale and it’s matchmaker apparently ensures that it will never have to face Tier VII heavies. It turns what used to be seen as a poor heavy into a really competitive tank. Only the Churchill’s incredible vulnerability to KVs (especially Derp KVs) keeps it balanced; when the KV-2 becomes a Tier VI tank I wouldn’t be surprised if people start to complain that the Churchill is OP.

Heads up, announcement made that 7.3 is going live tommorrow (5/3) on RU servers, people are guessing the US won’t be too far behind.

Now is the time to get your KV, KV-3 or IS-4 in your garage for free upgrades/slots. Details here

While I know some people have been waiting a long time, I’m selfishly hoping we don’t get it until Monday. I’m trying to decide if it’s worthwhile to blow some gold to hurry into an IS-4. The less gold I have to blow, the more attractive an option it becomes…

Woot! fancy IS4 has been in my garage forever… now I need to make 400k credits to get a KV-3. Easy money with my super incredible derp kv.

Finally! I’ve been waiting for this for months. Of course, with Diablo 3 about to release, I doubt I’ll play much WoT anytime soon, but it’s still good news.

The World of Tanks update 7.3 is to be released for the North American server tomorrow, May 8, 2012.

Also, don’t miss out on the Victory Day Bonus Code. Activate this one time use code: ENDWARNA (Use caps only). It will remain active from May 8, 2012 through May 15th at 16:59 PDT (23:59 UTC).
