Hard to tell, Lowe has a more damaging gun, so its potential for damage (and thus credits) is higher but it’s slow, so getting to the fight on time might be a challenge (the Type will shoot a few times by the time Lowe gets to the fighting position). On average, IMO Lowe earns a bit more (like 5% more maybe), since most maps are not that large and often don’t require a lot of driving.
Also depends on your style, if you are aggressive (but good at it) in the Type (and the Type should be aggressive) and overly conservative in the Lowe (happens often due to its speed), your Type might earn more.
As for the IS-4’s stock gun, it’s clearly a money grabbing scheme, the devs hope to trick some people into unlocking the top gun with the gold exp. I am not sure why would anybody do that though - the tank doesn’t seem to be that desired in Clan Wars (like the E-100, AMX or 110 were when they released and still are, except for the E-100) and for Random, IMO only those who don’t realize you can unlock the gun in the IS-8 would unlock it with gold.

59 earns pretty close to the Lowe and its a hell of a lot cheaper. Provided you play it right anyway.
I always tell people that the best credit earner of the Tier 8 premium tanks is the one your best at playing. I really think they all have the same earning potential, it comes down to what style of play you enjoy and excel at. The hard part is you can’t try before you buy (except in the test servers during a open beta), which is hard to judge since everyone is shooting gold rounds.
Personally I have a KV-5 (with over 400 battles) and I love the tank. It has great MM (tier 8-9), great armor (taken 40+ hits before and survived) and a decent gun with high alpha, low pen with good accuracy and high ROF. Also if you know your opponents weak spots you can reliably pen most tanks from the front and when you can’t the KV-5 makes a good flanking tank and of course its always fun ramming enemy tanks with this beast.

Overlord has some interesting news.
The next step will most probably be long-awaited Historical battles. This kind of entertainment, being a variation of company battles, is going to be available for organized teams (we do plan some simplifications for individual players of how to find the suitable company). Visually the mode will resemble Clan Wars “in miniature”. Expected time of completion a single scenario (battle) is going to be up to 2 hours. Consequently, in terms of time “consumption” and player commitment, Historical battles are expected to take place somewhere in between Company battles (with 1h per day) and Clan Wars (with 3-6h per day). Currently we are polishing the concept of this game mode to prepare it for the production. The main feature of Historical battles is obviously historical setups of the vehicles, broken into periods. Playing a 1941 battle, there will be no Tigers and IS’s available, in 1943 you won’t see any T-54s and E-50s… Actually, there will be no T-54s and E-50s at all in this mode :). At first Historical battles are going to be limited by World War 2 time line, later on the period can be extended (eg include Korean War and the respective vehicles fought there).
i really love my type 59. its a fun tank. Still it pisses me off to no end that my T-44 gets its ass handed to it everytime it meets a type 59. This is not how it should be for an elited regular tier8 tank vs a premium tier8.
I mean a regular KV-1 wipes the floor with a churchill or a T-14, and my IS-3 and king tiger fuck up lowes something fierce.
I tend to have decent luck with my T-44 vs. Types, but the Types bounce a lot of shots. On the flip side, the blow up real good unless they have the wet ammo rack. So does the 44 though.
At a guess, if they can afford a 59, they also have some gold ammo. That could be the difference maker in your one on one battles with them.
Maybe, maybe not. I have had a Type forever but never use gold ammo in public matches, and rarely in CW, as I can’t afford it. Mostly it’s the bounciness of the tank and the decent gun I think. Also, while some players are lousy, a lot of long-time Type drivers are very good.
Too true. Darn you long time players! shakes fist
On a different note, can I just say how much I love ramming things? It took a while to get used to doing but now… E-50 destruction ahoy! With Controlled Impact, just… wow. Destroyed a half strength E-75 the other day. One shot, one ram, a thousand damage and he’s out of there. So, so sweet.
Remember, just like shooting, try for the back if possible.
Yeah, the E-50 gets up a real head of steam, and Controlled Impact makes sense if you’re an aggressive player.
Oh, another thing on the Types–because there are no other Chinese tanks, the crews never get moved out of the tank, so they tend to become monsters over time.

I rammed a 4502B from behind with my E-50 for 550+ dmg and then shot him for 400+. It was awesome.
And I never use gold ammo in the Type59, most people don’t. Its really expensive given how fast that thing eats through ammo. I often end matches with 0-6 shells left, I can’t imagine how much money that would cost over time.
Some clans, like [RUS] for instance, seem to use gold ammo a lot in public matches; their top players get a healthy allotment of gold from their territories I guess.
Thanks for the tip about ramming. I managed to kill three people last game with my KV5 just by building a decent head of steam.
I got killed by a Hummel ramming me in either my Leopard or my T-50. That was a first.
Driving my type for money has given me back that je ne sais quoi for driving high tier mediums. agressive. fast. intelligently reacting to the flow of the battle. I fell back in love with my T-44 and Pershing.
I got me a Lorraine, but that really is one paper thin bitch tank. She can put a lot of hurt downrange, but is a huge target with fucking cardboard armor. I hope it gets better with practice. The things that worked well in the AMX-13 90 get me wtfpwned in the lorry.
How do you guys like the new and improved KV-1? I’m loving it. Just the right amount of armor, firepower and manouverability for its tier. It’s bigger brother, the T-150 is really fun as well, and quite a decent moneymaker.

I’m really enjoying the KV-1 as well. Playing it a lot lately. And winning. Not so with the new KV-2, damn.
Sold my KV-1, KV-2, KV-3. See no reason to play them, as I don’t like them much, and I have the IS-4, IS-8, and IS-7. Then again, I generally don’t keep too many lower tier tanks around, though I probably should. Now that I have a decent stable of top-tier vehicles, I’ll probably start to back fill lower tiered, elited tanks as sales roll around, or new lines open up. I still need to grind up to the Maus, for instance, from the 3001P, though the way the Germans have been savaged by the nerf bat I’m wondering why bother.
I think they could be fun in historic battles.
I think the mid tiers provide a fun diversion from the high tiers. Low tiers are fun as well of course, but matches play very quick. I rarely ever see the end of any match when i play a light tank ;-)
On mid-tier you can get some real tactics going and make some bank as well.
Actually any tier except 4 and 7 are fun. Heck at 7, heavies are fun, and tier 4 tank destroyers rock as well.
At the top tiers one often has to hit an enemy like ten times to get a kill. Or just watch arty do the work. At mid-tier, you can kill most things with three or four solid hits. Even a fellow KV. You are less dependent on the rest of your team to actually make a difference, increasing the tolerance for idiot teams.
One of the things that frustrate me most about high tier games are other people. That idiot in a lowe hiding with the artillry. Those fools in IS-8s drip feeding themselves one by one into the jaws of a solid entrenched defence. The thundercunt driving an IS-4 with the default gun. l’enfer c’est les autres

I’ve seen KV’s in matches in which they are the top tier tank. They are fearsome beasts when faced with only their historic opponents.
