10-year ban for lipping off a moderator.

No shit.

Well maybe the game gets released by then.

I just wonder what their policy will be to paying customers.

“SPGs suck.”

“You have a 6-day RO ban for not complying with forum policy about repeating topics. You have been warned before.”

“Dude, that’s a stupid rule and bad moderation. Your community manager sucks. You can’t herd all complaints into a single thread. It looks like no one cares.”

“8 days for insulting developers.”

“Hey genius, you’re not a developer. You know how QA tester is the worst job in the world? How they have to play a single section of Barbie Dressup Princess for 12 hours a day, 6 days a week, 3 weeks in a row, until they can replicate a bug? You’re actually lower than them. You’re a moderator. You’re not even a developer.”

“10 year ban.”

Who got that?

This was the actual exchange?

Like a ban even means anything in a free to play beta for a free to play game when you can just make a new account.

Paraphrased. I can’t go in and check, what with being banned and all.

I “might” have said something about the community manager sucking big, fat, hairy, sweaty donkey balls, but that was after the mod told me he’d be taking my case to admins to get me banned from the game.

It’s not that.

I mean, yeah, it sucks rebuilding from the start, but when this game goes live, do I really want to give my money to these people?

The smoke thing is doubly annoying in that some tanks have the smoke launchers on their turrets already, but of course they are non-functional. Though I don’t know off hand if WWII tanks actually used modern-style smoke grenade launchers. I’d have to look that up. Still, it’d be way cool.

Regardless of the occasional hyperbole from PapaSmurf about the forum mods and all, he’s got a point–they do seem shall we say a bit edgy and on a hair-trigger to ban people for what seems to be utterly ludicrous reasons. In the beta, yeah, who cares, but if they want actual dollars from me it does give me pause.

I have over 400 games in a Hummel (don’t take my word for it, there are now statistics pages: mine is here). It is elite, with 100% crew, 100% camo, and ~50% repair on them. I also played an SU-8 and S-51. It takes WAY longer to zero in on the Hummel.

Now, I’m not talking about just moving your hull a little, I’m talking about full traverse, as in changing from one side of the map to another. So from maximum size to minimum reticule size.

In fact, it’s not simply my perception at play here, but people have posted videos comparing the two on the official forums.
In fact, here’s the thread (there was another but I can’t find it).
A 6 second zero in time for the S-51 (consistent with my experience) and 12 seconds on the Hummel (I was a little off going by memory, but that’s still twice as long).

So I didn’t “pull” anything out of anywhere, the difference is pretty clearly documented. Despite the fact that it says “6 seconds” on the Hummel’s stats sheet. Which we know is misleading anyway (for all vehicles), as that statistic represents the zero in time from 3x minimum circle size to minimum. As explained by the developers themselves.

Now, the discrepancy in zero in time is actually just fine, because you get barely any traverse range on the SU-8/S-51 gun, and a huge range on the Hummel. That’s how they are balanced between themselves. My point was that clearly having a very long “zero in” time wouldn’t actually make artillery as a whole balanced, because people complain about Hummels as much as about all the others.

Forums or game or both?

Both.

Ouch, sir.

They are a bit heavy handed there aren’t they? Found myself in a match with BigBad whatever his name is, the mod. Started threatening me with stuff when I would not move my Hetzer to go scouting with it.

I just didn’t reply, seems I escaped with my account intact.

Scouting? With a Hetzer? One of the slowest, least maneuverable vehicles in the game? Cripes, BigBadVuk (or whatever) is even worse than I thought.

Yeah, I’m not too upset about it.

I lost some nice tanks but I wasn’t playing with them much.

This definitely has me rethinking of whether I’d play the game when it goes live, though. I mean, if they treat beta testers like this for giving feedback (6 day ban, I know I made it worse with my mouth, but…), anyway, can anyone imagine Blizzard banning somebody because they mouthed off on the forums?

Even though the game is free if you want it to be, I’m not sure I want to invest that kind of time and effort if I’m going to get chat/forum bans for joking about the moderators in the game, or get banned from the game because I get into a discussion with a mod.

If Blizzard banned people for mouthing off on the forums, WoW would be out of business by now. Unless the forums have become a shiny happy place in the past year.

Yeah well, his IS-3 was down to 50%, which is obviously far too damaged to go looking for two rogue Pz4’s. Yeah I had a good eyeroll during that match.

So the T1 is basically the worst tank ever. Ludicrously slow, crappy gun; gets owned in every game.

I don’t remember the KV ever being this bad (only done the soviet heavy line)

@supper’s - I can try to grind up to the hummel again, I have a KT already so it would just take playing the pz4, which is a tank I like anyway.

@gambrinous - I love my T1. I kept it after moving on to the M6 because I think it’s one of the best tanks in that tier. It just needs some upgrades.

Unless you really want to, there’s really no need, as that thread has multiple videos from different people all showing the same thing.

The people who originally went to investigate thought it was a bug, not realizing it’s actually a balancing measure, to compensate for the different gun traverse ranges on artillery.

I think there was an idea posted here to balance artillery by reducing damage, increasing rate of fire and increasing splash radius, so it becomes an area suppression weapon. As long as this change comes with a reduction in the frequency with which arty tracks tanks, this would work. The damage has to come way down though. As being one-shot for 75-100% of one’s hitpoints, without the opportunity to adjust, is the primary source of frustration, at least for me.
