Please no. What makes a good cinematic would be terrible for anything feature-length, as well as hysterically expensive.
I think visually/technically, Blizzard cinematics are certainly good enough for TV, dunno about the big screen – they aren’t Pixar but then who is? Dollars-per-minute expense is another matter, beyond my ken, but the big issue is writing, of course. It’s a lot harder to write a feature-length script or a season of TV than a cool 3 minute teasuer.
Very nice trailer, as to be expected of Blizzard who excels at cutscenes.
Nehrinn: it is called watching all of the game’s movies on youtube instead of playing through it.
I’d assume in the near impossible event blizzard did decide to make a… for lack of a better term, “Cutscene Movie,” they would hire a professional writer. They certainly have not shown themselves to have any high degree writing talent. Blizzard is good at adding decent rpg elements to non rpgs beyond what non rpgs generally have, but if you looked at the stories/characters as if they were in an actual rpg, they wouldn’t be so great. Sort of a big fish in a small pond situation.

Sure, visually both they and the guys who did the Dawn of War cutscenes for Relic could do something very impressive… given limitless funds and a team of writers capable of making something not as braindead as cutscenes tend to be.
That’s a fairly major caveat after all, so I’ll say no thank you to a Blizzard movie :)
Well, I sort of meant that Blizzard should hire professional writers/studio in making a movie or something and take full advantage of the Warcraft license. I mean, they already have books, a card game, board games, a magazine, and whatever else, why not take it a step further into the mainstream? I think they’ve got plenty of lore to work with anyway.
I’m still waiting for a hellgate london movie from the intro movie.
Blizzard announced the live-action WoW movie back in 2006. Been in development since then.

Because it’s a monstrous expense and there’s no guarantee of quality? Have you ever read the Warcraft novels? They’re abysmal.

I thought the dialogue was a lot more humourously cheesy than in previous cinematics.
“Pain. Agony. My hatred burns through the cavernous deeps. The world heaves with my torment. Its wretched kingdoms quake beneath my rage. But at last, the whole of Azeroth will break, and all will burn beneath the shadow of my wings.”
I’m not asking for Shakespeare (it is WoW after all – writing’s not its strong suit), just don’t make me laugh.
Yet another dragon cinematic … with fire now instead of ice … I’m so excited … and I just can’t hide it …
Two more years of trying to log in before the annoying dragon roar! Hooray!
Yeah, they totally should’ve made it about someone besides the main villain for the upcoming expansion.

I kind of love how Deathwing sounds like a pissed of 15 year old. I kept expecting Linkin Park to start playing as he was getting his piercings done.
Which isn’t to say that I didn’t find the cinematic to be pretty fucking cool.
What isn’t nice though, is seeing the Alliance get shafted once again. Stupid Orgrimmar gets redone with dark iron while Stormwind gets shat upon by a huge ass dragon. I hope you’re having fun playing your stupid Horde main, Metzen.

The best part of the xpac will be this cinematic I bet. Just spent 10 minutes on the headless horsemen event crashing repeatedly every time my mouse accidentally went over the summoning pumpkin, then when zoning out it hung up again.
I often wonder if they ever test anything for glaring bugs like this to get through.

a dragon is being tortured, and it escape…
alternate interpretation, some dudes added armour to a dragon, then he escape.
seems this dragon is a slave of the hammered men.

Sadly, I suspect Teiman is worthless even while sober.
I admit I squee’d a little bit as I always do with Blizzard cinematics, but Sinnick is correct; it is a little cheesy. I’m also not convinced that standing by one of Deathwing’s rear legs will protect me from cleave or tail swipe.
Loved it. It may not be Shakespeare, but I don’t look to Blizzard for that. It did exactly what it was meant to do, get me frothing at the mouth for Cata. Between Cata and New Vegas the anticipation is killing me.
