If you have heirloom mail caster gear, elemental’s pretty competetive at the early levels. But enhancement, especially now that you dual-wield from the start and get stormstrike early on, is insanely powerful for leveling. Dual-spec only cost 100g now, though, so I’d recommend doing that as soon as possible.

Actually, now I’m thinking I may level a Dwarf Warlock. The new soul shard mechanic has me intrigued, and I like the idea of a Dwarf with a mephistopheles beard. Hopefully using cloth won’t bug me too much.

I leveled a warlock as Affliction, and you get enough self-healing from your DoTs that it doesn’t really matter. Though maybe as part of their “MANA MATTERS FOR HEALERS!” nerfage that will get reduced a bit. I know it was reduced for shadow priests.

Why on earth do they say the day before a major patch that the patching process will be done at 11:00 AM? I don’t remember them ever making that time. Why not just say 5pm and be done with it? <grr> :)

I haven’t played a low level warlock in a long time, but the 4.0.1 changes sure look like they would hurt drain tanking.

Sadly most Americans don’t even know what rye is and the reference will be lost. Nearly every time I’ve ordered it the bartender didn’t even know what it was. You have to ask for Canadian Club or Crown Royal. They also aren’t familiar with Bloody Caesars, again blank looks or “the salad?” type of responses are common.

Since I’ve got the Amazon pre-order issue…

For those that pre-ordered the CE, can you let me know the following:

Expected Arrival Date, Order Date, Amazon Prime Member (Yes/No)

For me:

December 10th, August 19th, Yes

As someone who has played WoW since vanilla beta when the level cap was 39, it is kinda weird to think that we’ll never see Azeroth the same way again. You really can develop a sentimental attachment to a virtual world.

Dec. 10th, Sept. 9, Yes

Fairly irritated about it.

Go change your shipping to Release Day Shipping. Mine was 12/10 until I fixed it.

I click “Change Shipping Speed” and I get an empty page.

I’m working on a theory here – the order was bolluxed up for Amazon Prime members. If so, that’s really irritating.

Oh… I got the Ginger part, but didn’t think of Ryan as “Rye and.” That’s very good. I blame it on a general ignorance of all things drink and drunkenness, ya… that’s it.

I used to get an error, then I got a blank page, now I can change my shipping but no release date. I can pick 1 day shipping if I want to pay for it.

I occasionally get kind of the same way about old EQ1 zones. They revamped a handful of them and replaced them with more detailed geometry, higher-res textures, etc., but they made significant changes to their layout as well, and it’s just not the same. It’s weird having zones I spent so much time in early on feel so unfamiliar now.

That’s why I really wished they’d saved one or two pre-cata servers. But then, they’d have two divergent code bases to support for class changes it seems. Even if they were stopped in time as far as class changes, I’d love for them to exist.

Pirate servers will probably be the only way.

I have an even harder time understanding why the players continue to believe it.

Every major content patch, players are actually fuming about the uptime getting pushed back. Just assume it’s going to be between 5pm and 9pm on patch day and go on with life. :)

I’m excited to see the changes but won’t miss the (majority) terribly designed old zones. Most of them only have nostalgia attached to them. There is no reason to keep pre-cata zones suspended somewhere.

One last addendum:

Did you get the “we have no release date, do you want to keep this order active” email?

(Answer for me: Yes)

Yeah. I long ago adopted the mindset that Tuesdays are a day to plan on not playing WoW. There’s plenty of other games on my plate to get me through. If the servers happen to come up sometime Tuesday evenings, then I consider it a bonus and happily log in.

Also, I agree with Gary that it’s sad to see the changes happening to some of the original zones. I’ve leveled at least 6 human toons, and am quite fond of the Elwyn Forest / Stormwind zones. To think I’ll never see them the same again is kind of sad.
