Yeah, I was surprised to see even Goldshire has a flight path now. There are faint blue and red winged shoe icons on the world maps that show where all the Alliance and Horde flight paths are. Very slick.

So, it has to be asked, where is Mankirk’s wife now?

Where do you think Naralex got the compost from for his little project?

Mankrik’s wife isn’t anywhere anymore. Where she was is part of the big fissure separating Northern and Southern Barrens.

Mankrik finally moved pass his wife to some younger hotter orc-chick.

For anyone who wanted a cheap way to get the game and expansions, Blizzard is offering $5/$10 sale prices in the WoW launcher.

For those considering a visit but not up to speed software-wise…

“Act now and get epic savings with $5 World of WarCraft, $5 The Burning Crusade, and $10 Wrath of the Lich King. Gift to a friend or upgrade your account in preparation for the launch of Cataclysm.”

Just visit the Blizzard store.

It looks like the WoW armory still isn’t updated with the Cataclysm changes. Is there something else I need to do, or is my character as equipmentless as he looks for you guys too?

All of the missing items have item numbers in the high 50,000s, so yeah, they’re probably new items still not in the Armory DB yet. (Back in Blizzard HQ, someone’s going “Oh shit, I knew we forgot something!”…)

Ahh, I see what you mean. When you hover on the error tool tips, it’s that url where you’re getting the item number. Thanks. :)

As she was located in a place where Deathwing breathed on she is probably ash now swept through the Barrens by the winds.

I think you look very handsome in your cloak and boots ;-)

Are you kidding, seven? That is one scary-ass looking Dwarf there. I do believe I’m now scarred for life (or until he gets some clothes on).

I spawned inside the Stockades tower upon logging in, despite logging out in the Park District the previous day. Was stuck in there and decided to run that dungeon just to see the new changes in there.

There’s now specific “Dungeon Quests”, which have a seperate achievement tied to them (I hadn’t heard anything about these before). Also, I accepted a quest to kill Hogger and there’s a new panel that pops up with the quest that shows what he looks like. Pretty neat.

EDIT: Oh, and of course: FREAKING DUNGEON MAPS. Blizzard may only be like 6 years late, but better late than never, right?

EDIT EDIT: I recommend you do the Hogger quest, as one of the rewards is a really nifty eyepatch!

When I first saw that, I instinctively wanted to zoom out and rotate the image with my mouse. Too bad it doesn’t let you.

As for my dwarf, he’s actually leveling without a shirt at the moment. He reminds me of a circus strong man and I think it would be funny to level him to 80 without a chest piece, shoulders, and gloves. I don’t think I can hold out though. Too bad you can’t make more than the helm and cloak invisible.

Yes, that’s because you died between logging out and logging back in. You wound up at the nearest graveyard.

As much as I dislike the implies “easy mode” of having the questgivers right inside the instance, it does make logical sense, both from a gameplay and story point of view. Gameplay-wise, you can still have breadcrumb quests that lead you TO the instance, while the questgivers are actually IN the instance. And story-wise, which makes more sense when you find an NPC in the instance?

New: “Oh hello! Could you help me find my friend in this dungeon?”

Old: “Um, do you have a quest to talk to me? No? Move along!”

@Mordrak: Mordroc looks like he’s part of the cast of “300”; cape and muscles, what else do you need?!

Also, finally got back into WoW… having loads of 80’s it’s… awkward. Everything is changed and everything is still the same, so to speak.

The new quest design and flow is another wonderful step forward for WoW. I’m bringing a newly created Blood Elf Pally through Silverpine currently, and the whole zone seems to play more like a single player RPG with some MMO flair rather than the old WoW quest design of “Go here, kill 60 random things.” I’m honesty less concerned about leveling and more concerned about seeing what happens next. That may well be a first for me in WoW.

Also, the way that quests will now automatically complete and give you the next step when it makes sense is great. No more needlessly running back to quest givers just so you can be told to kill the boss of the zone you were just in.

I absolutely love watching WoW evolve.

Honestly, this is what I don’t like their new design philosophy. As fancy as WoW’s phasing and scripting technology is, this is not what MMOs are good at. It pales in comparison to any halfway decent single player RPG. You basically go through the zones in stages (at least so far) and each stage once completed is useless.

While the old world wasn’t perfect, you saw the conscience effort to move players through zones in a back and forth pattern and with an eye toward virtual world building. The former means you’ll run into people doing different things and give you an opportunity to interact with them and more group oriented challenges and the latter creates a better sense of place.

I did a run through Baron-side Stratholme, trying to pick up some enchanting mats. Along the way I finished up all the new quests there, and was really impressed with how they tied it all together when you finish the instance. Not only is the whole experience streamlined, but you actually feel like you made some sort of progress in the dungeon.
