I bit on the discounted WoW expansion sales for Lich King, but haven’t played WoW in a couple of years, and never played much to begin with.
I have a lvl 19 Paladin Dwarf (Moonrunner). I logged in and discovered I had no quests! Where should a lvl 19 paladin go for some questing action? Is there a good noob friendly add-on/mod that’ll just tell me what to do and how best to do it?

Check the hero’s call boards in the capital cities, they’ll direct you where to go :)
Go to Ironforge and look for the big yellow “!”. There should be a bulletin board that will send you to the correct zone or zones for your level.

You don’t need a questing addon any more. Wowhead and other places has a list of zones at various levels, if you don’t want to fuss with the job board.
REDRIDGE!
You’ll be a little bit ahead of the level curve for the zone (it’s 15-20), but the newly re-designed Redridge quests are really awesome. After that, follow the breadcrumbs either to Duskwood, Wetlands, or Ashenvale.

Thanks all! I’ll check out the board in Ironforge as well as Redridge. :)
How can I wrangle a guild invite? Is Moonrunner still the Qt3 server?
I won’t have much time to play, with 2 little kids around the house, but when I can pop on, it’d be nice to ask the Dropbears for pointers.

Head on over to our forum, sign up, make a post, and then go from there!
So the MMO-Champ zone level map says Thousand Needles is a 40-45 zone, so I run my 42 paladin over there (hit 43 on the way). Almost die falling down the cliffs into the water, swim forever to the barge. There’s one quest on the whole thing, must start a great fucking chain, amirite?!
Quest tells me to go to Tanaris. (Turning on low-level quest tracking also shows no other quests on the barge.)
Fucking fail, Blizz. Fucking FAIL.
Edit - and to add insult to injury, the place with the innkeeper and all the beds isn’t an inn.
Maybe instead of a “fail”, Blizzard is actually smart enough to avoid making a starting quest hub requiring movement across a large expanse of water, without an easy way to get there…
From a quick search, it looks like they are that smart. Whether a character is Alliance or Horde, there are 3 breadcrumb quests that direct them to the proper spot in Thousand Needles (the north part of the zone, not the Speed Barge.) From there, the questline will take a level 38+ character through some quests and deliver them speedily to the barge, after which they get a River Boat item that provides fast movement across the water anywhere in Thousand Needles.
When in doubt, use the breadcrumb quests found on the boards in the major cities; there are always level-appropriate quests to lead to the next zone.

Speaking of Thousand Needles, I took my hunter there last night and tamed a seagull. One of the nifty things about my new buddy Kehaar is that, even at level 77, he is about half the size of a normal flying pet.
And he’s a seagull!
Shit, I gotta get one for myself!

The breadcrumb quests are tied to the city closest to them. So neither the IF nor SW boards offered a Thousand Needles quest.
Also, fuck Darn.

Actually, if you bind in Darnassus, it is a 2 minute flight to Stormwind, due to the Blasted Lands portal, and you have an instant port to the Exodar.
Rolled up a Troll Druid over the weekend. (How could you not?) The 1-10 quests are pretty damn cool, but it took a while for me to get them done as quest mobs were respawning so sloooooooooow. There are two in particular that are straight-up awful if even three people are doing them…and there were plenty of people doing them.
Heading to Azhara at level ten was a great choice, but I’m kind of bummed I won’t be seeing the new Barrens stuff. Unmitigated badassery. I’m jonesing to roll a Goblin now.
I am LOVING dungeon quest-givers right inside the entrance. So much better. Using the Dungeon Finder is crazy fast experience, even without Heirloom gear.

My new Human Warlock is lvl 22 now, and has just finished the Westfall and Redridge chains. So good. I was particularly impressed by the phasing used in Westfall, plus the big reveal near the end of that chain was absolutely awesome.
How do “phased” areas appear to different players? Because NPCs move around, and yet I’ve never seen another player in a different phase just standing in the middle of nowhere talking to some phantom quest giver who isn’t there for me.
I’m actually looking forward to doing Duskwood now.

You won’t see the players if they’re in a different phase to you.
I don’t know if it’s changed for Cataclysm, but the way it worked in Northrend is if you and another dude are in different phases, you could be standing in the same location and not see one another.
Did they fix it so phased resources don’t suddenly disappear out from under you too?
Too many times in icecrown I’d go down to mine a node only to have it miraculously disappear with nary a person in sight right before my mining would “go through”. In a non-phased zone I’d just see someone and move on. Very annoying.
