Really, your ghost should appear right in front of the instance entrance. Too many players see these instances for the first time through the dungeon finder and don’t know where the entrances are.

They changed it so that in most cases, there’s a graveyard right outside the instance.

If, you had pre-ordered on Amazon, and had not got release date shipping…

Go there NOW, and you should be able to change it to release date shipping.

I just did.

This was a wake up call.. I didn’t know what the hell that was.

Looting random drops and cash and stuff can stay how it is, I don’t mind at all. But I would really like Blizzard to catch up with games like EQ2 (and WAR to a slightly lesser degree) and make quest drops automatically looted, cloned per party member, and placed in a separate inventory or abstracted entirely.

My level 23 troll warlock just finished up Azshara, and it’s fantastic! It’s pretty amazing what they did with the zone, turning it from a pretty but empty wasteland into a fun goblin-themed zone that still calls back to the important stuff from old azshara. It feels a lot like a Lich zone, down to the occasional vehicle-related bug. Highly recommended over the still-very-boring northern barrens. Various people tell me the undead starting stuff is quite good so I will check that out on my next character.

Without even noticing it my sunwalker (tauren paladin for the uninformed) is now 40 and I now have THE MOST EPIC MOUNT IN THE GAME!
Desolace and Feralas have been great, can’t wait to jump into Thousand Needles, and all this without any heirlooms.

Can you play through the gnome starting zone as a dwarf?

Well, I don’t think you will get the first 3 levels or so as a dwarf, since the gnomes literally start in Gnomer…and by level 5 or so you are in Kharanos anyways, so… just run through it as a gnome preist like everyone else is, then delete =)

I’m actually kinda glad I don’t have heirlooms (on Moonrunner anyway, heh); I’m almost leveling too fast as it is. But it’s sooooo gooooooood.

As Horde, I’ve found the zone quality (revamped or not) for 1-20 to be something like this:

1~10: Troll Island > Tirisfal Glades > Durotar > Blood Elf Land
10~20: Silverpine Forest > Azshara > Ghostlands > North Barrens

Dungeons: Deadmines > SFK > Ragefire > Wailing Caverns

To miss out on the new Silverpine or Azshara would be criminal. Northern Barrens should be totally avoided – it feels like the only big change to the zone was the fact the titanic ultra-zone that was the old Barrens got cut in half and they added DAOC-style horses between quest hubs to help the mountless newbs. Quests, however, are too close to what they used to be with little twist on the original, poorly designed (by modern standards, I mean, it kicked EQ’s ass in 2004) content. Booorrrriiinnnng.

Also, doing Silverpine sets you up for Hillsbrad, which has the single greatest quest in WoW: “Welcome to the Machine.” The objective of the quest is to be a quest giver, shiny gold ! above your head and all. You’ll meet three different NPC “players” who come to get quests from you, each one a hilarious stereotype of (bad) WoW players. By the end of the quest you get the distinct sensation that Blizzard knows the (bad) type of players that populate their game and hates them just as much as we do – minus the obligatory total newb in grays who talks in all caps and has no clue where anything is, which is kind of a dig at oldschool Blizzard design.

It’s an absolutely fantastic quest, and you’re cheating yourself if you don’t get your ass there and do it ASAP. (Of course, like any good content, you must be Horde to enjoy this.)

Spoken like someone who hasn’t seen the new Westfall.

which is… the trike? or if not, then what?

Tauren paladins get a special kodo, and Draenei get a special Elekk.

Ah ok, I’m pretty out of the loop as I haven’t played WoW in a couple of months. But all this talk about how great it is now is going to suck me back in I think.

You missed that.

Cute snark, though.

I didn’t miss it. It’s not impossible for you to have an Alliance character, you know. Many of us around here have characters on both factions.

You (snarkily) implied that Horde has some sort of monopoly on good content. In Cataclysm, this is simply not true. Both sides have excellent quests now.

He didn’t imply anything of the sort, he was simply talking about the Horde side questing options, nothing else.

From his first post:

(Of course, like any good content, you must be Horde to enjoy this.)

It was a snark about the “oh em gosh blizz favers hoard” idiocy currently rocking every WoW forum/blog. Surely you’ve all been seeing this crap? It’s becoming some kind of meme.
