Regarding the 1-60 stuff: I won’t be getting Cataclysm right out of the gate (it is my “xmas gift”), and I don’t mind a bit. I’m having an absolute blast playing my alts at the moment so while I’ll be quite a bit behind in the end-game progression it shows just how good Blizz did on the 4.0 content, even without the Cata expansion itself. They gave us a LOT of things without absolutely needing the expansion right away. They know it is a sale, regardless of when.

What’s the hilarious lore retcon that makes nelf mages not ridiculous?
I have only dorked around very briefly since re-upping the other day, but the new lower zones are very nice, and it always amazes me when I come back to WoW how slick the game is, compared to other MMOs. I still can’t stand some of it–Org chat melts the brain–but it’s such a sophisticated, clean, and smooth-performing package comparative to so many other (all?) MMOs.
Of course, I have ZERO knowledge (again) of what to do. My 80 Forsaken Mage I just blindly respecced in full Frost and full Fire for the hell of it (two specs I’ve never gone all out in) but I haven’t been out of Duratar yet :). I am thinking of starting a level 1 character with my wife and just leveling up again, as that’s the most fun, even though I have a scad of other characters from like 6 to 59 (48 for the highest non-DK). I had a Dorf mage in beta but a Goblin mage sounds fun (then again, who needs two mages?).
The Highborne have come out of seclusion. I think that’s more acceptable than worgen druids.
Haha, Gary, I think one of the things I most anticipate about major new releases is the shot of you holding it.
It actually isn’t a retcon, oddly enough.
New night elf mages are young members of the Shendra’lar, that faction of night elves that used to hang out exclusively in Dire Maul. The word on the street concerning the Cataclysm made them break their self-imposed exile and renew ties with the rest of the night elves.
I am sorely disappointed. I thought that the team that brought us space goats could have done better than that ;)

Damn man, 3 hours of 10-man LK wipes and I couldn’t kill Lich King. Got him down to 34% was best I could do. Are they getting rid of Kingslayer title?

For our last night before the expansion, we finished off Firefighter tonight and I got my Algalon key. For fun, we took a whack at Algalon and got him to 60% before his Big Bang lolwiped us. That’s still one of the best-looking fights in the game, IMO.

They popped up a server message that you had to quit WoW completely & restart, and the login servers are now a fine dust on the floor of the server room.

Once I completely shut WoW down and then tried a second time I was in. Um, the Goblin starting area is just incredible.
