Are there any quests after the 2 Throne of Tides ones?
It was cool, but it went on for too long for me. My nod would have to go to the small little quest chain that begins with “The Day that Deathwing Came”.
Just picked up the digital upgrade. Downloading the entire thing is kind of non-exciting. It’s kind of cool that the launcher lets you play (sort of) while it’s still patching.
Logged my mage in and was apparently on a tall structure in Org that no longer exists, because I plummeted to my death during the loading screen.
Then I spent a half hour trying to figure out what the hell was going on before I logged out and decided to let the launcher download the rest of the game so I can at least see the textures while I wander around lost.
ABOUT TIME. This needs to happen with more quest NPCs.

That happens with a lot of quest NPCs in the 80-85 chain now, which I thought was a fantastic and long-overdue addition.

Seriously. Completely random NPCs in the new content do this (for instance the 3 elemental spirits late in deepholm work correctly) while others that obviously should don’t. There also doesn’t seem to be any relationship between the UI (some enemies health bars turn grey when tagged, some don’t) and reality. The biggest complaint I have about Cataclysm is that Blizzard apparently did not design this to be an actually MULTIPLAYER game. There’s been 0 inherent challenge to questing, but there’s been a lot of competition for spawns that should be group tag and aren’t.

Not as far as I was able to ascertain. But I still didn’t get my quest achievement for the zone, so I assume I managed to miss some sidequest(s) somewhere or other. People have mentioned a six-quest Budd chain that I don’t remember, so that’s probably at least part of what I’m missing.

Er…what’s wrong with that? If he’s keeping everyone alive with a good amount of mana left, why does that mean he hasn’t learned his revamped mechanic?
I think he meant that that Paladin did learn his revamped mechanic.
Adam, have you considered that that group might have just been uncommonly good at not standing in fire, metaphorically? HoO’s fights have a lot of that… the difference between a decent group and a great group might be the difference between the healer being totally oom at the end of a fight and the healer being at 60%.
There’s a Budd chain way back at the beginning of the zone where you help him with Gnaws… you’re missing quite a few I’d guess, since I hit the quest achievement well before the Throne of the Tides stuff.
All that being said, there’s nothing after the two quests that terminate in Throne of the Tides. The dungeon itself though is pretty spiffy.

I thought this zone was going to he horrible and although I’ve taken a break from it while I chase higher XP in the end I loved it. Being a Druid might have helped, doing the original, hideous, questline to get aquatic form almost seems worth it fir here alone.
As a previous grumpy old quest hater I’m loving cata so far. I’ve done one instance run and am turning them down at the moment in favour of just doing one more quest in the chain.
I keep waiting for a zone to be horrible and boring but so far only two quests, both in uldum have tried my patience.

The packs in stonecore can go to Hell. They can go to Hell and BURN!.. Or maybe we can get a DK that doesn’t break every Goddamn CC we throw up. Those packs are harder than the bosses themselves! Well, except for the last one.
It most certainly does! A druid friend of mine grouped with me in Vashj’ir and had to wait on me to catch up. Even on my underwater mount his speed far exceeded my own. But I still liked the zone better than Deepholm.
After today’s maintenance, I plan on checking out Mount Hyjal with my Paladin.
In the event it hasn’t been mentioned before, Wowhead lists the new high level areas as follows:
[ul]
[li]Mount Hyjal (78 - 82)[/li][li]Vashj’ir (78 - 83)[/li][li]Deepholm (82 - 84)[/li][li]Uldum (83 - 84)[/li][li]Twilight Highlands (84 - 85)[/li][li]Tol Barad (84 - 85)[/li][/ul]
I’m not sure I believe the 78 minimum. I don’t think you can pick up any quests until 80.

skipping Deepholm for now, it’s on my list to come back to.
Generally I’ve been quite surprised at just how much stuff you can interact with in Druid forms. Pretty much any “go collect 8 foozles” can be done in bird or aquatic form and the tolerance for being hit before you get dropped out of forms or you get interrupted on the interaction seems to have been greatly increased. funnily enough I like that. I did have a little play with the seahorse mount but I think it took me about 30 seconds to twig that aquatic form was just as fast, if not faster, and I could complete anything that didn’t require me hitting anything without changing form.
That and I never saw a Druid on a seahorse past the point where you initially get them.

Everything I’ve read has said that you have to be 80 for these zones.

The initial mobs in those areas are level 80, which means that at least in theory, level 78 characters will see them as yellow mobs instead of orange or red mobs. I’m sure this is what they mean.
Blizzard has said specifically that the new zones are for 80 and up, and that the whole going into a new expac 2 levels below the former level cap is out the window for Cata.
None of the breadcrumb quests start till 80

They switched over the starter zones to 80 from 78 fairly later in the beta, and the Wowhead page probably just wasn’t changed.

Also, I’m pretty sure you can’t go to Tol Barad until 85 now.
