There are only two classes in the game without CC (Warriors and DKs), so as long as you don’t have a group makeup like Priest/DK tank/DK DPS / Warrior / Warrior, then you should be fine! :)

Even allowing for the fact that my wife and I are playing a shaman duo, we seem to be getting a good amount of CC in the LFD. I think it is only DKs and warriors who don’t have any. I suppose it is possible that a group could wind up with no CC, but it doesn’t seem very likely. Sometimes a group my have to CC different mobs than usual due to group composition, or the healer may need to do some CCing at the start of the fight; but as long as the group remains flexible and coordinated, there shouldn’t be too much trouble.

I believe for rogue you just need 2% hit rating at 85 with precision talent to land all your yellow/poison attack, after that Hit rating becomes next to useless, white damage is so low now compare to poison and yellow.

Oh Mind Control is awesome now, in most instance except grim batol(nothing in there are MCable, in lost city, I mced a wanderer, he has an aoe scatter shot for like 27-30k plus he melees for 20k+.

It’s worth noting when talking about heroics that while you can only get in with itemlevel 329+, the game takes into account your best possible gear including unequipped items. So if you’re a hybrid you may find that your actual gear for a single spec is well below heroic standard.

If I can ever get a decent grasp of raiding, or find someone who really knows the raiding scene to lead the guild and get people outside of Qt3 to join, then perhaps we can get it going again. You can also cheese the ilevel system by buying rep rewards you can equip to get your ilevel up. Although I would recommend against going undergeared into heroics unless your guild is going to carry you.

Right after I hit 85, I was able to get a 329 ilevel. I then sold an item that was not an upgrade and my ilevel went down to 328 and locked me out of heroics!

I would definitely not do that as a tank or a healer. I’m at 339 (IIRC), all with stuff I’m currently equipping, and I still get my face kicked in by the harder-hitting bosses.

Warrior tanks, at least, don’t have much of a choice. I made a list of all warrior tank gear so I could plot out a wishlist and it turns out that just getting to 329 is a pain in the ass; there are several slots where you are stuck with a 318 or lower item until you hit Exalted with some faction or other. My warrior’s tank set is at 328 average now, there are a handful of items that might get me up to 333 average and then all my upgrades are from heroics. :(

Oh I’ll definately swap out regrowth crit for furor now, thats more mana there and regrowth is only worthwhile when you get a OOC proc for a free cast.

The problem with healing now exists and it is bullshit. All healers are roughly the same, all stuck with the same cheap slow heal that hits like a wet noodle with gimped aoe/quick/big heals (aka non efficient). Top that off in fights where you have too much aoe damage and you’re always playing catch up. Spending 6-10s topping off 2-4 players with 2s 7-12k nourish/heal/etc. spells is only viable when nothing else is going on. Oh how fun is that… but that is GC’s new form of “triage” and healing skill.

The numbers just don’t wash. Not with all the aoe dps/dots/poisons etc. getting tossed out there in some fights.

I’m sure you’re convinced by this but all I can offer is that my guild’s healers are making their first steps in heroics and are coping while recognising that their gear is the bare minimum for the content.

Buh? Warriors tank in the same equipment as DKs with the exception of weapon and ranged slot, and I’ve for sure disenchanted a bunch of those that a warrior would’ve loved. Remember that Honored with the Cataclysm reps gives you a decent 333, generally speaking, with a 346 at Revered. I had one heroic drop and two pieces of JP gear, and I only had a single 316 (which was my relic, which are super tough to get) left.

Since then I hit Hyjal exalted for the belt and the cloak (which are totally legit, btw), but still.

I made the switch from my resto shaman to holy priest, not disc but holy, which give me much more mana regen in combat, as well as cheap instant single target heal(holy word:serenity), also priest have access to some incredible AOE healing, COH/POH/POM/holy nova/Holy word:Sanc as well as divine hymn.

healing is a lot easier after I made the switch on top of switch my race from undead to blood elf for more mana regen.

so during boss fight, I use arcane torrent right away, then I use this I got from last boss from grim batol, that’s close another 15k mana every 2 minutes already, shadow fiend when I get to 80%, then once I hit 50% I use hymn of hope.

I just finished tanking my first heroic, H BRC. It was quite brutal. We wiped over and over on things. Fun, but tiring. The forge boss is pretty tricky to tank.

I just ran normal Vortex Pinnacle and the healing was much more reasonable there. Looks like I will be running those dungeons for a while before tackling the hard stuff.

I’ve always been a healer in MMO’s, from Asheron’s Call 2 to WoW, and always loved it. Today I messed up a GB pug and thinking back, I realize I was completely distracted because I was not enjoying it at all. Healing now consists of mostly spamming a slow and pitiful heal, and if you have to deviate from that more than a handful of times then you are oom; there’s very little room for tactical decisions and efficiency considerations.

I surely can “cope”, but I am starting to have doubts that I want to. I’m not surprised that healer queues have gone from 10 mins to instant.

whadja mean DK’s and Warriors have no CC?

Warrior stun the crap out of your chosen target and make sure its first to die. Yeah I know it won’t last long but -hopefully- there is someone else in the group that can take the second whatever out of rotation.

DK’s have silence, interrupt and then can use chains as CC. Spec into free interrupt your group will love you. Chains kiting is lovely, spec frost and get the slow … immobilized, fevered and slowed all for wrapping it in chains.

DPS may need to remember that old die for the team routine.

As for offhealing when not spec’d. Don’t heal the tank, when the healing, plus crap, plus fan have met you keep the -healer- alive.

That kinda ignores my point about gear, although obviously I have no idea about whether you are properly geared for the content. It’s also not just you - the rest of the group is probably going to have a few people who’ve managed to get past the 329 mark but are still massively undergeared for heroics.

I take your point about being railroaded into a particular style, that’s a fair comment.
