I have a guess which class you play, or have a partner that plays…
It is pretty common knowledge in the PvP community and Blues (if you check latest news on mmo-champ) or vids of 5 frost mage rated BG teams etc, that Frost is incredibly powerful right now.
Latest blue posts indicate they believe DKs are weak in mobility in PVP currently.
Its pretty much excepted that ferals, frost mages (damage or control), and warrior burst needs to be tuned down. Hell I play a warrior and just got my t1 weapon and it is unfair how quickly I can kill someone if RNG lines up.
Just thought I’d share and hopefully stop the my class isn’t OP you just suck argument from popping up on this forum as well.

Actually, scribes can craft some pretty sweet relics now. They have a whole set of ilevel 316 relics they can make at skill 480 or so, and a set of ilevel 346 ones they can make at skill 515. They also have some fairly decent offhands they can make.
My scribe has already sent some relics to my shaman, DK and paladin.

I’d earmark that gold for epic flying as soon as possible after you hit 60. You’ll need a fair bit more of it :)

On upcoming class changes:
On fights where there is a lot of area damage, Demonology warlocks, Frost DKs and possibly Survival hunters are all too high.
Emphasis mine. God damnit, that’s the one thing that makes us cool. We have to juggle a bajillion cool downs to maximize our single target boss dps (and we’re still the lowest tree), (unless it’s AOE) we’re the weakest of the locks on dps on trash, and now you want to nerf our AOE abilities? BLARGH!
We are probably going to remove Drain Mana from warlocks. It is incredibly situational in PvE but causes problems in PvP. This might mean we need to evaluate Mana Burn as well.
Inferno will no longer increase the radius of Hellfire.
Shadow and Flame can now proc from Incinerate in addition to Shadow Bolt.
We want to redesign Improved Soulfire.
That’s a welcome change though, but with the shadowbolt mana reduction glyph and the marginal difference between their cast times, I still don’t see people spamming incinerate rather than shadowbolt. I’m curious about what they will do with improved soulfire. It seems pretty awesome to me now, if a pain to juggle sometimes but at the end of fights it’s basically keep up immolate and spam soulfire. Maybe that’s what they want to change.
You’re cute, and no. I love how you can’t even try to make a substantiative comment, so you go for the “lol u play a mage” snipe. Why even try? I’ve posted what classes I play in WoW threads on Qt3 in the past, and it’s not Mage.
(And my partner in 3v3 is Arcane, because he only plays Arcane. Ever. He’s been Arcane since Karazhan, when he started raiding. Some people just like a spec.)

I was surprised by this as well. I had 1000 gold by level 50 and 2000 gold by level 60. To make matters worse, there was essentially nothing on the AH worth buying except about 400g in Glyphs.
I had a rude awakening once I got to the BC Outlands. It got grindy as hell. The mass of kill, collect, and deliver quests is just mind numbing. I am now finding myself so fatigued by this style of questing that I am considering canceling my sub again. I really wish Cataclysm included an update for the Outlands. At the very least these zones could do with some significant tweaks to reduce the grind.
Oh, I know that’s not much in the bigger term, but for a 40th level char, that’s much higher than I was at before. And I was really working the AH and Mining.
Save money for level 60 mounts, check. Do we get flying then?
- Make sure to import your nodes from Gatherer/Cartographer/etc into Carbonite, and it’ll light up for you. Options/Guide/Import… Once you have the guide up, you can do stuff like create routes for farming, use a Tracking HUD, and the like.[/QUOTE]
See, I tried all of this, no go. Not sure what’s up. I’m going to try Mapper, listed above, and try deleting all my saved settings for Carbonite, maybe it’s just got a bug or I did something dumb at some point.

You do. I wasn’t trying to make money and each of my mount upgrades put significant dents in my funds. It wasn’t really until I was midway through Cata (after I spent 4k on Artisan mount) that I started accumulating real spending money. Between my characters, I’m now at 10k, so I could get master flying if I want but that’d cut my available funds in half.

Don’t worry it only takes like 5 or 6 hours to level out of outland now and Northrend so far seems much funner.

If you’re not in heirloom gear, it takes a lot longer, at least it did for me. I still can’t imagine full heirloom gear bringing it down to 5 or 6 hours, but perhaps with all the heirloom pieces and guild perks.

Really? I don’t have any heirloom gear and I spent far less than a day out there, though I did level with a friend. At least it seems like far less than a day, I was gaining a level at least on average every hour and then moved to northrend around level 68. I did this 4 days ago. So maybe it took me 10 hours then.

Epic Flying is 5000g (4200g if you are exalted I think)
310% flying is another 5000g (4200g).
The motorcycle from WoTLK is 14500g at least (mats engineer has to buy from NPC).
The alchemy vial that makes you transform into a dragon and allows you to carry a 2nd player on your back is 27000g in mats.
There are a few money sinks in-game though apart from epic flying none is really needed.

Really, that’s amazing. Did you grind instances? I was gaining a level an hour from about 50-60, but once I hit outland that became a level every 2 hours at least. Maybe I’m just slow.

That can’t be right. We are in a duo and have put in 12-15 hours and are only level 64 (started at 58). We are also old school raiders and were the guild’s top DPS for years so we know what we are doing. I can’t remember a single MOB that stayed alive for more than two GCD’s. We even have the Paladin’s aura that gives us +20% flight speed.
We do, however, stop for herbalism and skinning. We also loot everything and vender/AH it all. Those two may account for 15-25% of our time, but we would need to be going at double the pace we are to reach the 10 hours Morberis is saying. That seems unlikely.

Actually, looting can take up a lot of time, especially if you kill mobs fast. And then if you loot, you have to deal with selling, organizing, and using that loot. Of course, there’s the quests where you have to loot to get the quest items.
I’m not sure how much that would reduce leveling time, but that old school leveling guide that was made recommended looting every third mob I think. If he didn’t loot, then that would account for at least a significant portion of our differences.
It’s already happening on several servers. I’m not the only one seeing it, I saw a reply on RPG.net that the server that they play on, the Horde had basically held TB for 99% of the time since Cata went live, but since the hot fix went in, its’ changed hands several times today alone.
And you don’t need to have everyone involved… just a good part (15-20%)… makes it a LOT harder… you fight in the middle (to get more HK) instead of on the flags, and all of a sudden, whoops! The other side wins! We’ll have to get those dirty rat bastards in 2 hours!

I might try that to speed things up a bit, but it still doesn’t help with the fact that the Outlands completely suck compared to everything else in the game now. :P

I guess my standards are different, as I still really enjoy outland. As I’m leveling my goblin, I’m getting sick of quests that don’t let me use my skills (or require any skill)… but instead amount to me going through some half-assed approximation of what activity it is they are trying to emulate that their MMO engine is obviously not meant to handle.
With the old quest design (especially when it was a bit harder) you made decisions about approach, pathing, dealing with groups. You actually used your class abilities. It wasn’t exactly hard, but at least it was gameplay. Now, it’s basically a sometimes clever, but mostly mediocre adventure game much of the time.
Edit: Somewhere between Outland and Northrend as far as the number of their anti-gameply gimmick quests would be preferable for me. I don’t mind the gimmick quests to break up the normal gameplay. That’s a pacing thing, but when it replaces the gameplay, it becomes more tiring.
