More like 40 minutes before they can votekick again. I suppose the server booted me for AFK before that, but it should be at least 20.

If it makes you feel slightly better, I believe in that instance because the tank manually joined a group already in progress, it doesn’t count as a random, and thus he won’t get valor points. But as you said, he probably just wanted loot off a boss and had to go milk his dog.

That’s not the way it works. In my guild, we have kicked the 2 pugs in our random in quick succession. We don’t do it often, since we rarely get both an incompetent tank and and incompetent DPS. But it has happened.

there is a lengthy delay between the kicks, I know when we had to kick 2 dps for sucking so badly, we had to wait atleast 20+ minutes.

Oh, so I guess that’s what happened to me last night. I was queued as a DPS on my Paladin, because I’m still trying to get some quest rewards to fill out my tanking set, and to familiarize myself more with the fights. We zone into regular HoO, and it’s me, a resto shaman, shadow priest, mage and fury warrior. The fury warrior is marked “Tank”, and I can tell he’s a fury warrior because he’s dual-wielding 2-handers.

So I’m thinking “Okay, I guess he was questing before the queue popped,” but he just goes and charges right into that first pack as is. Naturally it doesn’t go that well, especially since I’m pulling aggro on everything I attack, and that first pull is kind of nasty.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so I assume that he’s forgotten that he’s in his DPS spec, so let’s just give him a minute to swap out and whoops! There he goes again! Same thing - I’m pulling aggro off anything he’s “tanking”, so I say in chat “Am… I tanking?” the shaman says “you were during that fight” and the warrior says “whatever, let’s go fast” so I figure “fuck it”, switch to prot and start tanking. It’s pretty passive-aggressive, but the healer figures out what’s up, and we start making some actual progress. Clear the first boss with (mostly) no problems and we get to another of those tricky pulls. I start marking kill targets annnnnnd the warrior leaps heroically into the middle of them and starts attacking. I should mention at this point that he’s doing about 1200dps, which seems counter to his desire to “go fast”.

We almost wipe at the water elemental sub-boss, because the healer and the mage get bubbled, and nobody bothers to break them out - certainly not the warrior, because I can see him beside me at the boss. At this point I’ve had enough, so I vote to kick, which passes. The shadowpriest, who is second in dps behind me, also leaves. Possibly because I was not polite in my “reason for kicking”

Oh, and I just looked him up and it’s my mistake. He wasn’t dual-wielding two-handers. He had a 1H axe in mainhand, and a 2H Obsidium Executioner in his offhand. There are also a couple of other problems with his gear

Trying to resub after 6(?) years. I know my username but password not correct. Email and full name do no match records. Guess I’ve been hacked. Tried account recovery web, got caught in an endless loop of failure. Time to call…

Is it even worth calling? I only had the original WoW game and it’s only $10. Do I need all of the xpacks or does Cataclysm include everything? thx

Are you sure it’s $10? Last I recall it was $20. Cata doesn’t include any other expansions you have to buy them all separately, though you won’t need any until you reach level 60, unless there’s some specific expansion specific feature you want (I believe this would include some professions but can’t think of what else you might not have access to 1-60).

Whoa.

Buy everything - Cataclysm will only do unique things to you in character creation (it opens two races) and in the 81-5 range. Lich King brings one class and Burning Crusade brings two more races, so if you want to play a Death Knight, Dranei, or Blood Elf you’ll need those at creation time as well. If you just want to play a vanilla race with a vanilla class you can put off all the expansions until you hit 60 if cost is a point of concern.

Can’t roll a Deathknight until you have a level 55 first. So it’s really just races and possibly jewel crafting and archeology.

You missed the pre-Christmas sale where the xpacs were $5.

Wow that guy is really something else!
Did he have to drink often to replenish his mana?

Reminds me of a fury warrior we had in 40 man MC back then that had leather items because of the AP and used DKP on Vendorstrike…

There have been quite a few BiS leather items for warriors up to the patch that introduced the armor specialization STR bonus. Not quite at the same level as Mr. Onehand Twohand there. I really hope he’s just trying to be funny because…wow.

Leather on dps warriors was common practice back then due to awful itemization (let’s sprinkle spirit on EVERYTHING!) and the importance of agi for crit (because +crit% was extremely precious and rare).

Bummer. Blizzard stuff never seems to go on sale. :(

Where was this guy when we were trying to explain what we meant by “bad players”?! :)

That player is a king among men.

Why did the healer heal that guy? When we get a true idiot like that in our groups, our healer refuses to heal them. After about 10 deaths his +INT gear is broken and he leaves after some choice all-cap spellings of various racist and homophobic natures.

Actually, if you give some people the benefit of the doubt, there are actually people (kids, housewives, completely clueless casual players or …people who bought their characters on eBay?) out there that don’t play the statistical min-maxing game and have no real clue on how to “play their class” or optimize their gear.

There are some casual clueless players that go by whatever offers max armor/sta I guess?

Blizz really ought to add some backend metadata to these items that the LFG system uses to validate that you can perform your role. Just adding a “role” field and requiring that a player have like 80% of his items be appropriate for the role would help. adding an armor type check would help too; e.g. warriors need all plate.
